[NO-SPAM] Income Inequality - Pinky - 01-19-2012 i hate people who still talk about income inequality as if it's a real issue. http://kudlowsmoneypolitics.blogspot.com/2011/12/slamming-economic-inequality-not-slam.html MODEDIT: This thread will be considered within the rules of the Kame House. No pointless posts. [NO-SPAM] Income Inequality - Super Buu - 01-19-2012 People whose names are Pinky, I ... find your posts to be an insightful window into the reasons why the world is so horribly fucked up. [NO-SPAM] Income Inequality - Pinky - 01-19-2012 we got an ol' sayin' where i come from: when you throw a rock over a fence, the dog that yelps is the one that got butthurt [NO-SPAM] Income Inequality - Super Buu - 01-19-2012 Do you have a blog? You should start a blog. [NO-SPAM] Income Inequality - Jonathan Meer - 01-20-2012 Person who argues passionately for the over-wealthy when people are starving on our streets, when entire classes of people are educationally and occupationally disadvantaged purely because of their parents' lack-of-financial-resources, I hate you. It is immoral to make and keep more than $100,000 a year. [NO-SPAM] Income Inequality - Jarka - 01-20-2012 Jonathan Meer Wrote:Person who argues passionately for the over-wealthy when people are starving on our streets, when entire classes of people are educationally and occupationally disadvantaged purely because of their parents' lack-of-financial-resources, I hate you. Agreed. I only keep $100,000 a year. Anything more than that, I use to purchase yachts. The bias just oozes out of that blogpost [NO-SPAM] Income Inequality - Pinky - 01-20-2012 Jonathan Meer Wrote:Person who argues passionately for the over-wealthy when people are starving on our streets, when entire classes of people are educationally and occupationally disadvantaged purely because of their parents' lack-of-financial-resources, I hate you. i loled. this reminded me of another internet class warrior that uses his latest igaget to protest the excesses of free markets. thx for the laugh [NO-SPAM] Income Inequality - Jarka - 01-20-2012 Pinky Wrote:i loled. this reminded me of another internet class warrior that uses his latest igaget to protest the excesses of free markets. thx for the laugh Meer is pretty far from the image of iHypocrite that you're picturing. In addition, it is possible to be using a system and still protest it. It's called privilege, and it's an important concept in any form of civil rights and social discussion today. A free person need not become a slave in a plantation to argue for emancipation. A man need not throw away his ability to vote in order to argue for women's suffrage. You can recognize the privilege your situation gives you and still say, "This is fucked up and we should find a way to change this." Ugh, why did I waste my time typing this? You'll just respond with something that kills about 3 braincells per character when reading it. [NO-SPAM] Income Inequality - Super Buu - 01-20-2012 Trying to use reason and logic with Pinky is like carefully and deliberately explaining the difference between DVD and VHS to a dog. I was actually considering starting a discussion about Financial Inequality before realising it would be 5 pages of carefully considered opinions vs. links to blogs that objectively prove that coffee farmers just need to buck up and go to college, DUH [NO-SPAM] Income Inequality - Pinky - 01-20-2012 Jarka Wrote:Meer is pretty far from the image of iHypocrite that you're picturing.pfft. peppering the body of his reply with strawmen and junk moralism and emoting left me no room or reason to put any effort beyond that. your own post here fits in nicely with his in those regards: i didnt say he was that guy (i mentioned the other candy-ass for a reason) i simply said he reminds me of him. [NO-SPAM] Income Inequality - Jonathan Meer - 01-20-2012 I'm not particularly angry at you, but I am frustrated at what you embody: complete desensitization to actual moral ills. I'm frustrated at it because I'm part of it too, and so is everyone I know. On this planet, right now, some people are starving to death and some people are flying around in private jets. The main reason you, in particular, annoy the fuck out of me is that you apparently revel in that disparity, dismissing it as 'junk moralism.' [NO-SPAM] Income Inequality - Pinky - 01-21-2012 simply saying that i am things does not, in fact, mean that i am those things. i am disgusted with the modern welfare state because of what i saw growing up on welfare. not that my household was the problem, our caseworker said that my mother was her favorite because she was honest, never took more than we needed even if she could, and didnt pull the janky bullshit that so many others did. we lived at the bottom, but we always had a roof, ultilities, food and clothes - not brand name junk food and $200 nikes and expensive cellphones, just cheap basic shit which is why we always had food and whatever. i do have a lot of expensive shit now because i was taught to be wise with my money by the example that my mother set. the real problem was how every other house dealt with the same situation. my friends, some of whom werent on welfare and had two working adults in the house, would get their water cut off, get kicked out of their rentals, and any number of other bullshit because they were dumb and wasteful. so yes, your blanket statements about the poor poor pitiful poor are just junk moralisms that pay no heed to what actually goes on in the real world i have plenty of sympathy for the truly poor who are better than their circumstances, but they are few and far between. i reserve the right to give no sympathy to idiots who engage in a LIFESTYLE that keeps them poor, and yet cry for more handouts as if thats what ails them. this includes idiots who dont get a decent education because they decided african american history was an interesting major but completely ignore that its not a marketable skill, and then take to the streets crying about the super rich keepin em down. its not my fault that people are increasingly sitting in ivory plastered funhouses to the tune of 20k a year. so fuck you guys, fuck your self involved ignorant bullshit, go to hell [NO-SPAM] Income Inequality - Tyr - 01-21-2012 Hokay, better not talk about who reminds me of who because holy shit. e: to clarify: you three are reading way too much into pinky saying meer reminds him of someone. Damn. [NO-SPAM] Income Inequality - Vad - 01-21-2012 Moving forward I'd like to keep this discussion civil. I don't see why Pinky became the target for aggression because he said Meer reminded him of someone. Nothing in what you've said here is inconsistent with what I've written, or believe. I believe there should be a safety net, provided by our society, to ensure people don't fall through the cracks. That safety net should be mapped to people who genuinely need it. People who don't need it shouldn't get it. There are places of genuine need in our world, and that need can be met with money, and it is immoral to be extravagantly wealthy in light of that need. EDIT: Not to sidetrack, since I think this is really a red herring, but when someone says 'You remind me of someone', they are implicitly making a comparison. That's how it works. Joe, you remind me of a bloated child rapist. [NO-SPAM] Income Inequality - Vad - 01-21-2012 Alright. Due to recent developments I want this topic back on track. The previous discussion involving Pinky is now over. Back to Jarka's original idea to vent over idiots you encounter in your day to day routine. Any further mention will result in warnings and infractions. Comprende? [NO-SPAM] Income Inequality - Jonathan Meer - 01-21-2012 Better yet, split and moved to the Kame House. Original topic is back on track, and this discussion can continue. [NO-SPAM] Income Inequality - Vad - 01-21-2012 Jonathan Meer Wrote:Better yet, split and moved to the Kame House. [NO-SPAM] Income Inequality - Jonathan Meer - 01-21-2012 While it's hard for me to judge, since I'm in the middle of it, there looks to be much less aggression and bashing than you seem to see. |
