1. Roms are not illegal if you have the original game.
2. If you DON'T have the original game you can keep the ROM for a full twenty-four hours and then it becomes illegal.
It's true. But any part of government or law enforcement cannot download ROMs either. You can close this thread if need be now.

I don't think that is still the case, it was at one point, but I'm pretty sure that ROMs are considered to be illegal no matter what. Before, they were labeled as backups, but I think that they're now considered illegal copies.
Either way, it's not me who has the problem with them, but I have to protect us from any sort of TOS violation against our host, or even worse, the company who owns the games originally, which isn't usually a problem, until you get into things like psx isos.
Again, don't share rom sites, or send each other roms on the forums. I just have to keep our interests in mind.

Kurra is right while ROMs are legal the first 24 hours. hosts and such fear legal action from nitendo and the like, and get paranoid with these things so most dont allow it. If you have any questions go to me on AIM and ill set you straight. Im done, and wont talk about it anymore. ^x^

Nah that's BS too, ROM's are illegal period, when you buy a cartridge you also purchase a licence to use the game, you can lend it too friends, play it yourself, or sell it later on. However, your licence doesn't allow you to make copies or backups as that would be a violation of the games copyright.
