Quote:We are happy to announce that we will soon be accepting applicants for the World of Warcraft Open Beta Test for North America.

In other news: Scientists say that the sun will burn off all of its fuel "soon." When asked if they could provide a more accurate estimate, they responded "quite some time."

Hmpf - Metal Koola - 10-24-2004

?

Hmpf - Broli - 10-24-2004

o.o

*feels the thread failing miserably*

Hmpf - Kami - 10-24-2004

BLIZZARD IS NOTORIOUS FOR LYING ABOUT RELEASE DATES!!! IT'S LIKE SCIENTISTS SAYIING THAT THE SUN IS GOING TO BURN OUT AND THE ONLY DATE THEY GIVE YOU IS "EVENTUALLY" MUCH LIKE BLIZZARD WHO SAYS A GAME WILL BE OUT "EVENTUALLY" BUT THEY NEVER GIVE YOU AN ACCURATE DATE.

Hmpf - The Not Cool Not Tapion - 10-24-2004

n00bs if you don't understand that then you should all die a miserable death.

I know Broli, they say the realease date is in 3 weeks too! I don't know how they are going to put the beta in that time period unless it's next week. I hate them for this...

Edit: Agree with Kami...Blizz sucks and they go from D3 to Ghost to WoW. Now they are putting most staff on WoW and they still don't give a release day. Ironic that they put the scientist thing there...

Hmpf - Broli - 10-24-2004

Whoa now. Let's not make rash statements such as "blizzard sucks."

D3? Don't recall that ever being mentioned.

And the Blizzard company is split into different projects. This is done so that Blizzard can always have a game to release after the release of one of their products. For example, they're working on Ghost AND WoW, so that when WoW is released, Ghost can be released months later to fill that time gap. It's good business ethics.

And Kami, you couldn't be more right. As I recall, D2 was pushed back MONTHS after the scheduled release date.

Hmpf - The Not Cool Not Tapion - 10-24-2004

D3 is being worked on. I forgot where I read it but it was some official blizzard site. D3 is going to have some cool storyline. Not much is said but they don't have much staff on it. They also switch to tft and d2 to give patches. For the longest time they only worked on tft and ghost was supposed to be out I thought. I heard about it years ago...

No, my younger friend. They have been planning it for quite some time but they are waiting until after the other newest releases I guess. So it will be like 5 years ;_;

That runs right along with "My friend who has a friend who has a brother that works at Blizzard said..."

While I'm sure they are indeed plans for a new game (Diablo universe or not), I think it unfathomable that any official news could be found on the Blizzard site. Please, enlighten me.

Edit: And no, those fansites you just gave to me on AIM are NOT official blizzard sites. There's a difference between a Blizzard Exec saying, "We are shooting for starting a D3 project in the end of 2004," and a fan saying "Hey guys, what do you think D3 would be like? What would the story be?"

Hmpf - Kami - 10-24-2004

They killed the three terrors, Diablo, Baal and Mephisto, soooooo no story there. Soulstones smashed yeah...D3 would just be another bullshit rumor the internet spreads.

Seems like all compaines do now a days is push release dates back, D2 for example like you said Broli. HL 2 anyone? Yeah, delay after delay after delay. I would rather not hear a damn word about a game untli it came out and everyone was like "OH SHIT THIS RULES!!!"

Hmpf - Broli - 10-24-2004

Oh, don't even get me started on HL 2.

I heard something about a November launch (actually, I believe it was an EARLY November launch). Yeah right.

Oh, and in the world of Diablo, there's still some of the Lesser Evils that must be dealt with. Even so, you can't really call a game "Diablo" if Big Red's been long dead since the previous game.

Hmpf - Raditzu - 10-24-2004

I don't even bother following game release dates. There's no point. I could sit around waiting for something to come out, or I could just do something else until I'm in a store and see whatever game I was interested in.

Well there's Diablo Clone that you can make walk the Earth so they can interpret that. And they brought Diablo back again after he dies but that's from the soulstone. And the angel dude at the end of D2 talks about how there is stuff going on other places. There are a lot of demons and stuff still around so they can do something.

Hmpf - Raditzu - 10-24-2004

I wouldn't really care what they would pull out of their asses if they did another Diablo game. No one plays it for the story. They play it for the mindless hacking through unending hordes of enemies.

They don't hack...they bot and use map...hack....and ZPickit....not that bad.

I try to get to the top of the ladder.

Hmpf - Broli - 10-24-2004

Did you even play the game? =(

1) The Diablo Clone is nothing more than special endgame content.

2) Diablo was never brought back from the dead. In the original Diablo, the person who kills D wasn't protected by angelic forces, and so Diablo took control and forced the character to plunge the soulstone into his/her head. Thus, Diablo inhabitated the body of that character, and eventually transformed into his real form at the end of Act 3.

3) What "stuff" was Tyrael talking about? Yes; there is stuff going on, but Tyrael only mentions the possibilities of what can occur if the Worldstone is not destroyed. Since it is corrupted, the Worldstone had the potential to allow the plane of Hell to spill over into the mortal world, and so he destroyed it to prevent such a thing from happening. He did, however, mention that he was unsure of what the destruction of the Worldstone would bring about - one such possibility being the reincarnation of Diablo without the use of a soulstone. Just a thought. Other than jumping to far into the imagination... As I said before, there are still the Lesser Evils who banished Diablo from Hell. They fight to win the war against Tyrael and the angels, and this is the only thing that I could see a plot coming from in Diablo 3.

4) I think Rad's wording of "hacking" meant the literal sense of cutting through baddies with a sword.

Hmpf - Raditzu - 10-24-2004

Err... I don't play Diablo online. I actually enjoy games more when I don't get to experience the "depth" and "realism" of playing with other people. Having to play with other people is what ruins games like Gunbound and Day of Defeat.

Hmpf - Broli - 10-24-2004

Oh, I was referring to Tapion. >.>

Hmpf - Raditzu - 10-24-2004

I figured as much, but

was that totally missed?

Hmpf - The Not Cool Not Tapion - 10-24-2004

You suck. I hope you die. You make me look bad...
