Good times... - Raditzu - 10-28-2004 Yeah... ok... that was pretty funny. Good times... - Tobias - 10-28-2004 XD Wheeeeeee Good times... - Reijin - 10-28-2004 That was pretty funny. Nice little read while I cry over the fact that the Halloween festivals are going on on Final Fantasy XI and my computer is out of commision till I get a new one and I'm missing it AGAIN (NA release was just after the event last year.) Good times... - Old Selipa - 10-28-2004 That was fun to read, I?m actually going to take the time to send it to people because of it. lol Good times... - Reijin - 10-28-2004 /hijacks the thread HEY EVERYBODY! Let's take this thread completely off topic! Since all of my threads get done this way. Anyways... Yeah, I can't wait until I get a new computer... I keep looking at it eyes wide on Newegg and keep adding parts to it, increasing the cost, and thus wait time, to get it for. But... I'm willing to fight like hell to get a GOOD computer this time. So far the cost is 1500 for the parts, not including the combo drive I already have, mouse, keyboard, and speakers. I have those. Getting new monitor though. And later, I'll add to that cost by getting new speakers/soundcard and a new desk I'm looking at. And a chair. Then we begin working on my gf's comp. After we get a new TV. Saving like mad. I want. NOW. I'm at about the 1300 mark in savings... Just... a bit... more... probably after Christmas though (meaning I'll miss out on the Christmas events on FFXI also... again... Last year I was having comp problems during that and missed it.) due to Christmas shopping

Good times... - The Not Cool Not Tapion - 10-28-2004 I wanna be a game tester. Just so I can play new releases... Good times... - Raditzu - 10-28-2004 Quote:Originally posted by Tapion I wouldn't. I wanna play games for fun. If I did it day in and day out for a living (especially having to QT the shitty games) it would take all the fun out of it. Good times... - Vegeta - 10-29-2004 He doesn't know anything about computer hardware so he's buying whatever has the highest price tag. =D Good times... - Tobias - 10-29-2004 Speaking of computers I was thinkin' about nabbing on o' these My friednd says Im retarded and I could upgrade my current comp to run better for less. But I says to him " But It looks really cool =(" Good times... - Vegeta - 10-29-2004 alienware is not as good as they claim. you could do alot better for $1500. i bet you could probably find an as cool case if you looked around. Good times... - Tobias - 10-29-2004 Oh yea... Im poor... But I figure give me a couple decades and I could pay it off. Good times... - Tobias - 10-29-2004 My parents are poor... Good times... - Metal Koola - 10-29-2004 I've been considering getting FFXI for a long long time... I really don't know what's stopped me up to this point. Is it worth the monthly price tag? Good times... - Reijin - 10-29-2004 To me, yes, but I'm also wanting to play WoW. Anyways, Koola, actually I've been reading magazines and stuff trying to research it. Here's what I have listed. I don't want to just get "something that will work for now", I want something I want have to upgrade for a while, at least for a year. Case Decent tower, my friend has the non-windowed version of this. Motherboard Seems decent, but I'm willing to change it if I find something that better suits my needs. Memory As far as memory goes, I've always used Kingston b/c I've heard it was good durable RAM. And from what I've seen, yes, it's reliable. I have heard a lot about Corsair though, and while I'm a bit wide eyed at the price tag, I'll try it and see how they go. I've heard they are really fast good memory, and I want a gig for gaming. Processor Seems like a pretty good processor for the cost. I am not planning to overclock (since I have not had practice with that) but if I decide to in the future (after learning more about computers in general) I can. It's also cheaper to me than the Intel equivalent. I haven't had the overheating problems with AMD that I've heard about, nor have a couple of my friends that have run them for years, nor my dad. I think those problems won't really occur till you DO OC. I'd kill for one of the EE chips But yeah, whatever, this seems good enough to me.Powersupply With this, I'm pretty much assured I'll have enough power when I DO upgrade it and add stuff. Video Card My beautiful video card. I picked this looking through the various GeForce 6800GTs, and thought it had the best package. Later I picked up a magazine where they did an in depth look at that exact card, the XFX one, and gave it a 9/10. Plus it has Doom3 with it. I've heard that the X800 is better for D3, but this card appeals to me more for other gaming. Harddrive I've added this and dropped it, multiple times. It's expensive, but if I have the spare money for it, I'll go for it, just to see how the thing runs. Monitor I want a decent sized monitor. I don't want it taking an ass of room on my desk. If anyone has a better suggestion, feel free. In the future I'm planning on getting a decent sound card and some better speakers than these 10$ one's I have, but that's not really that important so for now I'll wait. I'm also probably getting a new DESK at some point. A friend of mine has this one, and I want a corner or L-Desk for 150 or lower. Preferably not glass. Good times... - Reijin - 10-29-2004 Wow, I do like that case. For the cost it's not bad. How does air flow go? |
