Why am I sad over this? - Android-18 - 05-03-2005

I put mature because in my opinion this can be a sensitive subject, and I'd honestly like it if people don't spam up this topic.

I donated blood today. Why? I don't even know. I keep telling myself it's right, it's a good thing, I might save a life by doing this. The blood drive was at my school, and woman asked my last class of the day if anyone 17 and older would like to sign up. It kind of hit me like a train. I saw the flyers, I knew it was there, and I thought to just walk past it. Only two of us could in my classs, and when I looked uncertain I swore my teacher (whom I admire) give me a disapproving look. So I took some time to think about it.

People would respect me, right? I'd be doing a good deed, I wouldn't be selfish. So I did do it...I gave my blood...and I feel depressed about it. I always used to tell myself I would never give blood, I don't want anyone having my blood in them. I'd laugh at those comercials that said "Blood, it's in you to give." and say "Blood, it's in you to live." and now it's not so funny.

Shouldn't I be proud, happy, mellow? I feel neaseas and down right sad. I don't know what to think, no one helped me decide, I had no support. Maybe I made the wrong choice...I don't know.

Have any of you hit this crossroad before? I just need to talk about it...

Yeah I asked for no spam...

I am not diseased, I just am unsure what I did was right or not.

Wow, 18. Don't treat yourself so hard. If you think your teacher gave you a look then it could be a small bit of peer pressure. What you did is your choice, there is no right or wrong in your choice. We know you well enough that you do make good choices though, and donating blood could save somebody someday. We are all humans, it's ok that you share your blood, isn't it? You shouldn't think that it's wrong or think that it's bad. You did nothing wrong.

Almost all of my friends gave blood at one point or another. I, personally, would never even think about faulting someone for doing something to help other people. Giving blood is a very charitable thing to do.

I don't give blood because needles scare the shit out of me.

I've given blood three or four times. I think it's a fantastic thing to do. I've never really felt any side effects or stuff like that when I did it, although one time my arm was all tingling feeling for a while but it was fine. Driving home after giving blood is always an adventure. I wouldn't feel bad about it at all, hell it probably got you out class for a little while didn't it? I'm O pos, so the blood bank calls me when ever they have a drive and know I'm eligible to donate.

It is up to you to decide if it is right or not, 18. They had the blood drive in my school yesterday, too, and I am not old enough (obviously?), but I would have like dot do it. I, personally, could think of many reasons to do it, but also not to do it.

My guess is that you feel bad that you didn't come to the conclusion yourself, since you were pressured, or felt like it. That is just my guess, a bit uneducated, but you can take it how you would like.

Just remember: it is you who deciddes what is right or wrong in your decisions.

Exactly what he said, plus the fact that I only weigh 115 lbs. Yes, I eat a lot, but still only weigh that -_- Annoying. My gf tried to donate blood, but they brought up her anemia, so she can't Undecided Well, sometimes she can, and other times she can't, its weird. But when you do it, you feel weak for a while due to losing a large amount of blood, but then you feel so fresh and great afterwards, due to the rush from having fresh clean blood cells in your stream, and all the dead cells being removed.

My secret...I don't look at the fucking needle. Ignorance is bliss.

The little finger prick hurts worse then the big needle...

I'm no psych major but most likely you are feeling down because you feel you were forced into a decision you did not want to make.

Think of this way, blood cell die, what every 28 days? Sorry, that Bio chapter was months ago. Treat it as cutting off your fingernails for someone who doesn't have them. It's like LockofLove for a wider range of people.

No, they suck out of the ass.

Recoome, I love you.

MY Opition: You should feel happy. You probably just saved some kid who got hit by a car, or something like that. You should feel great. You may feel bad at first, but think of it this way: Your a hero. Think about it, you may have saved someone's life.

Actually, 18, you saved three lives. The blood gets split into three parts: red blood cells, platelets, and plasma. They all get sent to different people. I can't tell you what you're feeling, and I won't tell you how you should feel. Everybody has a different reaction to different things. There isn't a specific way you're supposed to feel; you think how you think. Be sad. Let yourself be confused. It's okay to feel what comes naturally. What I recommend is that you let the event sort of simmer and wait to see if things will sort themselves out. I don't know how helpful that is, but I believe you'll figure it all out. =)

What else can i say then what was already said?

But I get blood drawn like it's kewl, they make us do it. But i don't feel bad about it, like everyone says, it goes to a good cause....

I just think about all the marines that are losing limbs and blood just by doing their job to protect us, and it makes it all worth while.

Why am I sad over this? - Bra - 05-04-2005

Someone a while back called you a hero for donating blood.

Fact is, it's true. Though you have every right to feel bad about it, you are a hero for going out of your way to do something for others. Even if it wasn't difficult, you probably contributed to saving someone's life.

...Is there perhaps any reason you decided you weren't going to give blood? It's understandable if you decide not to answer.

Sorry I'm a little late on this 18, But when I had surgery I needed blood, if people had never given blood, I would have died on the table, and died soon after getting hit by that damn Truck. But you gave blood, now someone that needs just a little blood to restore what they have lost will be given a second chance at a life that other wise would have been lost. What you did was a wonderful thing that someone out there will receive one day, and on that day their life could be saved on the operating table. I thank you personaly 18 for giving blood, because if people like you even if they had their doubts about doing what they did had not given blood, I would not be here to type this response to sooth your troubled mind, or to watch my two little brothers grow up to become men.

Much Love

Uub
