Rap; Like it or Leave It? - Burter - 10-07-2005 My thoughts? I hate rap. Not the music, but the things inside it. Like pimps and ho's and bitchs and beating down cops in drug deals. That dumb shit. I like music with meaning, and there are some very good rap songs that have this, ala Cowboy Troy. Discuss. Do not flame, or insult, someone based off their opinion. This is your only warning. You'll get a real warning on first offense in this thread Rap; Like it or Leave It? - Hellfighter 17 - 10-07-2005 Although the lyrics I don't particularly like, I don't care either way. I don't listen to it, but if it's on TV or the radio or whatever, I won't be all "OMFG die music. =(" Rap; Like it or Leave It? - Old Dave - 10-07-2005 I don't like rap either, mainly for the same reason Burter stated. It stands for everything I don't, drugs, pimping, beating your women, killing other people. Not to mention it just sounds like a bunch of jumbled noise and hollering, like a sick donkey trying to mate. I like music that has people who can actually sing and play an instrument, and mainly shake the foundation you stand upon making you look at the aspects of your life. You want some good music, go listen to Hoobastank or Alter Bridge. Rap; Like it or Leave It? - Burter - 10-07-2005 I like the music itself, as it focuses around drumming and that's what I play. I like "hip hop" more then "rap" mainly because the former tends to have more tasteful lyrics Rap; Like it or Leave It? - Amadeus - 10-07-2005 I dont like Rap. At least for the most part, for the reasons stated above and beacuse most songs are just terrible. I do like a FEW songs from Eminem, but only those that have a deeper meaning (for exampleSing for the moment. Was Moby in that song? I think he was). There are probably a few other rap songs that I like, but other then that I dont like it. Rap; Like it or Leave It? - The Not Cool Not Tapion - 10-07-2005 I like all music and I enjoy rap. Rap is like music to pump you up. But the lyrics are distasteful but you don't just listen for the lyrics, that's why other people like it because it's something you can bob your head to and dance to. I agree the lyrics are usually distasteful but they are rapping about how some of them grew up and others follow that trend so they can sound cool. If it's really their life, whatever, let them do it. I like the whole rhythm to rap and hip-hop and all of the likes, but I hate hearing down the street a person blaring the bass just because they think that's cool...it annoys me. I have a lot of views on rap and rappers, don't get me started on 50 Cent (I despise him -_-), Mike Jones, Lil Jon, or others. I will rip them to shreds before your eyes verbally. =O But rap with meaning is always good to listen to. But I'm biased because I like rap, write rap, and have one song recorded O_o. If you wanna listen you can PM meh =O Rap; Like it or Leave It? - Ruhiel - 10-07-2005 Metal rap is probably one of the greatest musical ideas around. Combining rock with rap is a perfect combination. However, this was just about rap in general, and as rap in general is now about pimping and money, it's just terrible. I liked rap back when there was meaning behind the words, but now... just no. Rap; Like it or Leave It? - The Not Cool Not Tapion - 10-07-2005 I like rap even if they talk about killing, pimpin, etc, only if they have a large vocabulary and their lyrical range extends further than rhymes like "she he, it, tit, fit, etc" And it needs to flow together well, I believe rap is like an art because not anybody can walk up there and rap and make it flow and have good rhymes. Props to them. Rap; Like it or Leave It? - Banned Dana - 10-07-2005 Has anyone noticed that all rap is basically Techno music? Seriously, listen to the background beats! I like rap though, minus the cursing and blah blah bull crap, I think it's decent, kind of catchy too! But then again, I love Techno! Rap; Like it or Leave It? - Burter - 10-07-2005 Linkin Park is a good example of tasteful rap lyrics. Rap; Like it or Leave It? - Toshiro - 10-08-2005 Quote:Originally posted by Burter More like a combo mix of rap/metal. Mike does the rapping, whihc he is damn good at. Rap; Like it or Leave It? - Burter - 10-08-2005 Quote:Originally posted by Janemba Uh, yea, I wasn't talking about the style. I was talking about the lyrics. You know, the words in the song. Rap; Like it or Leave It? - Old Dave - 10-08-2005 yeah linkin park is my only exception, because not everything they do is crap. Rap; Like it or Leave It? - Sammah - 10-08-2005 I love Rap, just like others, I guess I grew up with it. So that's just me. Sure I listen to Rock too, like when i'm RPing and need that motivation, I need to listen to some sort of rock to put me in the mood, but Rap is deffinately something I listen to every day. Linkin Park is also a prime example of badass Rock/Rap, much props to them for succesfully combining the two. Rap; Like it or Leave It? - The Terminator - 10-08-2005 Linkin Park is awesome, used to be one of my favorite bands. They still kinda are but i'm pissed at them cause they haven't made an original album in a while. (Not including remixes and that one with Jay-Z. For the most part I hate rap for the same reasons previously stated, anyone can rhyme 'fuck' or 'dope' or 'gangsta' it takes real talent to make good rap. Its kinda like poetry, you need skill and talent to do it right. There are a few select songs that I like. Mosh by Eminem is the only song by eminem that I like, all his others in my opinion blow. Overall thoughts: Rap = Crap - C Theres my opinion, i hope I haven't offended anyone. Rap; Like it or Leave It? - Bra - 10-08-2005 Rap used to be a fantastic medium, decent vocals and great beats. But all that changed when anyone with any self respect retired/quit/whatever. I can name like, three or four current rap artists who I don't consider mentally challenged, but none of them have done anything in a while. =\ Like Tap said, I can listen to any genre, as long as the song has talent. Unfortunately all rap's been 'blessed' with as of late are idiots like 50 Cent and his G-Unit, who don't ever rap about real life, it's always shooting/stealing/my-car-is-better-than-your-car/etc. I really don't mean to be offensive. I was a rap fan before, really, I was. Jay-Z was my favorite artist, regardless of genre, 'till he 'retired'. The benefit, though, (I guess) is the lack of any good rap got me into some amazingly good lesser-known rock bands and stuff. I even listen to hardcore now, and I used to think it was dumb.
Rap; Like it or Leave It? - Raditzu - 10-08-2005 I dislike rap and definitely do not consider it music to any degree. Rap; Like it or Leave It? - Burter - 10-08-2005 Quote:Originally posted by Bujin P.I.M.P is about his life? In that case... I still hate him. Rap; Like it or Leave It? - Bra - 10-08-2005 Quote:Originally posted by Bujin That's not what I meant. I mean, he never talks about the everyday. Yeah, I'm sure he's wound up in a gunfight before, but I know that's not the only thing he's ever done. He just... lacks depth, I guess. Rap; Like it or Leave It? - The Not Cool Not Tapion - 10-08-2005 Okay, don't get angry with this post but since you talkin about 50... He should be dead. Anybody shot nine times should be killed. The person who shot him nine times should shoot himself for sucking so badly. Also, his voice when he raps is retarded because of him being shot in the mouth and because of that he changes the sounds of words and makes them sound like they rhyme when they don't. He has the intelligence of a eight year old when it comes to depth, and lyrical content. It's the same thing, over and over. He doesn't rap about his life, at all. Maybe a couple songs, but then he goes into his money, how he hates Game and Fat Joe, and others. He's in so much beef now and talks so much shit it's rediculous. He's in it for money, that's all, his rhymes suck with a passion, and he is annoying. And he said he raps about his "life" in an "interview with BET"...that is a lie. You can lie on TV, he has been in struggles but do you know of his childhood? He lived with his grandmother for a few years and never shot anybody but he was around gangs and stuff, but he was never the bad guy but he started selling drugs for his own money. He didn't shoot back when he got shot nine times. He.Is.Retarded. I hate fifty cent. |
