On a roll here - Raz - 12-01-2005 An idea, a sport for Chubbs. Basic idea is a mix between FFX's Blitzball and the game based on a popular book of JK Rowling's, Quidditch. I'm really into starting this off, even if it would be something like a 'quest' I'd still want to follow through with it. Betting could be done through bookies for regular members, zeni earned by the alliances for participating is sent to a pool which can later be spent by members for items and such. S'only if would kick off bigger then a simple quest done by one. Speed, strength, and defense would all participate to how well you react in the game. Basically it'd be just like sparring as you'd get the crap beat out of you by either the other team or the balls in play themselves. There is more I could go on about, but as always I want to see other's views on this as well. Hope to get feedback from *everyone* who might be interested. On a roll here - Super Buu - 12-01-2005 A team sport would be awesome, IMO. We could even stage one-off tournaments with nice prizes. I think it would be cool to have some way to limit how powerful the combined force of a team was. Either have different leagues, where a combined ki limit would be set in place, or have just an overall limit on ki, so you wouldn't have teams made up of huge powers vs a team full of newbies. You could have a mix, instead. With some elaboration, this could be a great idea. On a roll here - Krillin - 12-02-2005 I had a very similar idea (which, actually, was not discussed on the public forums), though it was OOC (similar to Big Brother) instead of IC. I liked the idea then, and I like it now. On a roll here - Hellfighter 17 - 12-02-2005 Sounds cool, man. Flesh it out here for us. On a roll here - Raz - 12-02-2005 I'll type up the details tonight and post it up here then, that way people can get a feel for it before hand. On a roll here - Burter Jr - 12-02-2005 Could be cool for a side-game, but it would have to have an end. Like Big Brother. If you could get enough people to have enough teams, you could do seasons (Like BB1, BB2), ending with a championship match (Like a Super Bowl). It can't be continous, is my point, or it would die out. On a roll here - Raz - 12-02-2005 Quote:Originally posted by Burter Jr Exactly, it would be ran like how FoF is being done at the moment. Eliminating teams one by one till two are down to the finals. On a roll here - Hellfighter 17 - 12-02-2005 How many players on a team? I don't think you could have too many on a team by the sounds of it. Maybe have like three or four. On a roll here - Super Buu - 12-02-2005 That's what I meant by 'one-off tournaments', and I agree with what BJ is saying. It would no doubt be time-consuming, and we don't want to change to a sport RPG It really needs to be elaborated on first, though.
On a roll here - Raz - 12-02-2005 There'd be four. A goalkeeper, a fore offense, and two running as 'wingmen' for the fore offense. I'll write an Rp to explain it all up to a certain point, basically how everything I'm thinking of will look. On a roll here - Burter Jr - 12-02-2005 Don't just make a simple tournament. Do a league, ala NFL. =D On a roll here - Raz - 12-02-2005 xD Perfect. Also brings up another thing. If alliances want to participate, they could have their own colors. Just something to be proud of without any real meaning to it, people with PhotoShop could whip up a emblem for the alliance's team, make it as interesting as possible. On a roll here - Tobias - 12-02-2005 Awesome idea. I <3 it. Quote:people with PhotoShop could whip up a emblem for the alliance's teamThat sounds familiar... oh wait... thats right... >=( On a roll here - Raz - 12-02-2005 Flames erupted from multiple geysers about the massive arena as a fierce roar lifted from the crowds whom rumbled the stadium down to the very ground itself, stands rising like towers into the sky as inside they curved to form a deep bowl within their center. Hums coming from the force field generated sphere that enveloped the opened middle glistened with aquatic blue, lambent streaks of white running its surface from the vibrant energy coursing through it. Inside the orb, bodies clashed, two teams entangled in a battle to secure one of two globes darting about within the perimeter of the field. One of Katchin... sleek and small, its very presence from moving at such a velocity offered more danger then reward as its astounding speed was matched only by that of its incredible density. The Titanium sister to the metal of legend took heed of the fighter's abilities as a smooth and slick surface offered no help in getting hold of this fist sized rondure. Moving like a hawk down upon its prey the Fore Offense plummeted, cutting through the air as a glint of Katchin caught his eye only for but a moment. Years of experience told him that was all he required, yet luck always had a way of altering such situations. In a flash the opposing team's left Wingmen had taken heed of the Offensive leader's rush and now was on him... breaking away from his leader's side to kick a flash of aura to propel the athlete into direct contact with the other team's Foremen. Screams issued up from all around as a goalkeeper garbed in green and gold spun about backwards before dipping low to send a kick heavy enough to catapult a Titanium trinket away from the shimmering silver sphere behind him. Lower to his right another smaller orb shined as well as an even smaller version to his far left, more barriers. Force fields inside force fields once thought an impossible feat given the complexity of energy serving as walls were now used in the alignment of this vicious sport. Suddenly from origins unknown came the shot again, down below the other team's right Wingmen had diverted the blocked Titanium piece down near the bottom of the playing sphere by grabbing a hold of it with a hand and using a bit of centripetal force to swing it around back at his target. Another rush of flames lit up about the monstrous stadium as the metal struck hard against the smallest force field generated globe, changing its normal ivory color to a pure crimson brilliance. The heavy blow causing a change in the barrier's energy flow, exciting ions to give it a flash of color for but a few moments before settled down into the pale white glow again. "Team Vegeta-sei, 5. Team Earth-sei, 8." Above boomed the voice from a spectator's box located near the midsection of the stadium seating where announcers coming as far as Mercy-sei sat to report back the events going on in this game to their home worlds. Within the energy field the combatants lined themselves up again for another round, the goalkeeper hovering in front of the largest of his guarded goals. In front of the squad the Fore Offense levitated, at either side his Wingmen kept tight as they were the heart and soul of the team. On the other side of the field Team Earth-sei gathered their offenses and prepared for war once again. In the direct middle floated the two orbs of different sizes and color for but a moment till... "Break!" The spheres let fly, the game begun, and two teams competing for the bragging rights of their planets. ---
Name of the game is known as 'Breakball', a mixture of both style and strength that pitts warriors against each other in a sport designed for the skilled. These games are held in stadiums designed to hold near a half million spectators as matches will sometimes turn out whole planets to view even if the arenas lack seating. In the 'Play Sphere' two teams of four battle it out as one another attempt to slam small metal objects into the opposing team's goals to gain points. Largest - 1 Point(s) Medium - 3 Point(s) Smallest - 5 Point(s) There are advantages to be held in the field of battle though, as this isn't just a skill of strength but a skill of determination and intelligence. Though both Katchin and Titanium offer the same amount of points when hit agianst the opposing team's goal, the two different metals hold specifics about them that would make the game all the more interesting... and sometimes, deadly. Katchin Sphere: A speeding bullet of pure unbreakable fury, this small item is as quick as it is fatal. Thanks to Arlia-sei technology of splitting air resistance, a slick coating about the metal's surface enables it to accelerate ten times as quick as a metal of it's type normally could. Titanium Sphere: Thicker and bolder in shape then it's Katchin counterpart, this orb is one of the more sought after in game. Though the speed is considerably decrease from its size, it takes quite the effort to bring it under control. Especially difficult to handle if you're attempting to throw this weighted beast. Rules, however, are still being judged upon by a council as this sport has just recently begun to festure itself throughout the galaxy. ---
Alright, that is the basic outline. I've left a lot of the main parts out, descriptions could've been a little better, but I promise a lot more depth when there's things actually rolling with this. I didn't state any rules because I thought that best hammered out later when there's more interest involved. Enjoy! On a roll here - Super Buu - 12-02-2005 That is so damn cool. I want Buu on offense, man. It would suit him.I'm assuming staff would create the actual scores at the end? On a roll here - Raz - 12-02-2005 Shots would be considered 'events' where the member of the team shoots in their post, then staff would write if the shot connected or not. Scores will be periodically called out after every connected shot in the staff's post. On a roll here - Raz - 12-14-2005 Offical Breakball Ruling Overview Known as 'Breakball', the game is a mixture of both style and strength that pits warriors against each other in a sport designed for the skilled. These games are held in stadiums designed to hold near a half million spectators as matches will sometimes turn out whole planets to view even if the arena has a lack seating. Within the battle sphere, or "Bol-Strijd" in Saiya-jin tongue, two teams or four compete against one another as either side attempts to collide small metal objects into the opposing team's goals. Scoring The small spheres that serve as goals are known as "Bol-Kleines" which are often referred to by game enthusiasts as "BKs" for a smaller term. Sizes of the BKs break down into three categories that define the points scored upon contact of one, they are as follows... Largest - 1 Point(s) Medium - 3 Point(s) Smallest - 5 Point(s) In the field of battle there are many advantages to be taken hold of as the tournament itself isn't based alone upon skill of strength, determination, and intelligence. The metallics used in the tournament provides a mass amount of variation in strategy, though both score equally there is alterations that can be exploit in benefit for either team. Made of both the metals Katchin and Titanium, the two spheres hold specific differences about them that make this game all the more interesting as well as deadly. Bol-Katchin (Katchin Sphere): A small metal projectile of pure unbreakable fury which is as fatal upon contact as it is quick to sight. Thanks are to Arlia-sei technology for their recent breakthrough in splitting air resistance, a slick coating has been doused upon the metal's surface to enable lightening fast acceleration ten times its normal pace. Though sonic booms from the small orb are almost regular there has been fable that a force much greater has been released from bypassing the speed of light for a second under perfect conditions. Bol-Titanium (Titanium Sphere): Bulkier in size and broader in shape then its Katchin counterpart, this orb is one of the more sought after spheres while in play. A decrease in speed from the larger diameter has brought the sphere to a little less than forty miles per hour yet that doesn't divert from the extreme amount of force needed to alter its course. If brought up to speed, it has been known to plow through two or three competitors before coming to a reasonable alacrity. Field Layout The Bol-Strijd, in a simple appellation, is a massive globe of energy generated from two flux compasitors positioned at either end of the large stadium bowl to provide a constant flow to keep participants and audience separated from each other. Inside, the battle sphere is divided typically into two separate parts indicated by a crimson line drawn upon the ground below which the Bol-Strijd hovers over. One side belongs to the home team while the opposite to the visiting team. Before the game begins, members must be within their respective sides; only then will the playing orbs be released and the game initiated by the word "Break" coming from one of the game's administration viewing the tournament. Nanotechnology has provided the ability to produce small levitating orbs that serve as goals within the game. Consisting of three main sizes, the Bol-Kleines are aligned in a triangle shape behind the goalkeeper. There has also been a slight alteration to the electrical makeup of the force fields as now contact with any sort of metal will excite ions within the barriers, altering their color from a light blue to a deep crimson indicating a scored goal. After each scored goal the game will halted as the Bol-Strijd will pull all metallic objects into its center to signify the end of the round. When this occurs, both teams return to their specific sides till the beginning of the next round begins. Ruling Ground Rules 1. Teams consist of only four people, an optional two can remain on sidelines till needed. 2. Two second maximum charged ki restriction 3. Max restriction on ki set to 1,188,000 at all times 4. No communication between teammates outside with ones inside the Bol-Strijd 5. Absolutely no metal objects on any inside the battle sphere Instant Disqualification 1. Killing any of the opposing team 2. Any uses of Metal Binding 3. Any techniques to alter/multiplying appearance 4. Concealed or foreign items on player 5. Surpassing ki level or charged ki restriction 6. Outside interferences by reserve players 7. Discovery of physical altering substances Keep in mind that posts relating to scoring shots will be taken and judged amongst a selective group then voted upon so that there are no biased calls or unfair decisions. Because of the wider group of reviewers for shot calls, the reviewers themselves may participate in the tournament till it is time for their own team to play; only then will their vote cease to count towards the call. Teams should begin finding their players as the tournament sign ups begin on the 31st of December and will last two weeks before the initial ceremonies to start the games begin. As one of this tournament?s main sponsors happens to be the ever generous Capsule Corporation, transportation between arenas will be done by teleportation tubes that can only be used by players coming to the match. Any other use will install a 900 zeni service charge upon use. As with any tournament, there will be prizes to follow the victors. The final match of the games will reveil the winnings as well as this year's champions. Get hyped, get amped, get ready for Breakball Season 06!!! On a roll here - Burter Jr - 12-14-2005 If an admin approves, I'll make a board. On a roll here - Raz - 12-14-2005 Beautiful. On a roll here - Raditzu - 12-14-2005 I'll give it the approval. At the very least, it won't cause any harm. |
