He attempted to kill you. Maybe that wasn't his true intent, but throwing an f'ing axe at someone is enough for me. If he's insane, and has done this before, then he should be in an insane aslyum, not out on the streets. If he's considered too sane to be put in an asylum, then he should be tried for second-degree murder. You don't do something like that and get off easy because you're medically insane.
