Ugh. - Krillin - 03-16-2006 I blacked out today, just after taking a shower. I stood up, felt a little dizzy, and grabbed onto a towel rack. Next thing I know, I'm laying across the shower threshhold, shaking, and unable to really get myself up. After about a minute, my motor functions and all were good again. Damage assessment? My head felt very dull after that, though there was never any actual pain involved. Considering how I was laying, I assume I hit my head on the shower-floor, but luckily, it's plastic. Nothing incredibly hard. Mostly, it was my back that hurt. The shower threshhold is a dull piece of metal that extends about three inches off of the ground, and keeps the shower doors on the track. I totally bent this piece of metal back, to the point that the shower doors can no longer close. My back bled quite a bit. Back's fine now, though still tender. My head is still dull, and is keeping me from really focusing. I doubt it's anything serious, but a good night's sleep will tell the tale. Moral of the story: I need more sleep. Ugh. - Violet - 03-16-2006 Actually, Krillin, I had a similar thing happen to me about three times before. The last happened when i was going to donate blood, and just after they got the pint and were getting the little test tubes out, everything went black, noises sounded like they were coming through tunnels, everything felt cold. I believe low blood sugar was the cause of it, so you might want to check on that. ^_^ Ugh. - Krillin - 03-16-2006 Well, this happens sometimes when I just stand up too quickly after sitting down for a long time. I happen to sit in the shower. It's the only way to really get wet. And, this only happens in the mornings. Ugh. - Super Buu - 03-16-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Krillin That happens to pretty much everyone. Happens to me sometimes, it's just when you stand up too quickly, the blood can't get to your head (or something, I don't know the specifics, just what I've been told). It's normal, just get up slower
Ugh. - Krillin - 03-16-2006 Yeah, I figured it was something along those lines. Doesn't change the fact that I'm totally out of it. O.o <------ ME Ugh. - Hellfighter 17 - 03-16-2006 I guess I've never stood up quickly. o.O I have fallen asleep in the middle of the day after getting no sleep, but that's usually on the bus. Hope you feel better, man. I guess your luck on Chubbs doesn't count in real life. Ugh. - Tobias - 03-16-2006 I fall asleep in the shower in the mornings. Never fell over, though. You should get checked out though. None of us are doctors. Ugh. - Krillin - 03-17-2006 Well, I've had about 15 total hours of sleep over the last three days. Five hours per night, average. I'm writing it off as sleep deprivation. Regardless, a few people I've talked to on the Internet have related it to Iron deficiency. I just ate about four steaks. If nothing else, I'll never mind getting my daily dose of iron. Ugh. - Ruhiel - 03-17-2006 Yeah, I think it was a combination between lack of sleep and the whole thing about standing up too quickly. I've never passed out from standing up too quick, but I do lose all sense of direction, vision goes fuzzy, and I fall back down. But never actually blacked out before. Regardless, falling unconscious at any time is NOT a good thing, and you should probably go see a doctor. Ugh. - Old Selipa - 03-17-2006 I once had a black out while I was in the darkroom. Found that to be funny, cause I knew it was happening since I had had them before but just the fact that it was in a darkroom made it freaky?>_> yea just eat some more. That was my problem, I think. Ugh. - Krillin - 03-17-2006 Blood sugar was another possibility. I don't tend to eat sweets. Either way, I think I'm fine. It's happened before, and I've never had any mental or physical trauma from it or anything. Besides, everytime I go the doctor, he finds a reason for me to pull down my pants. I don't mind the urine sample, but having him do the rest of the stuff makes for awkward conversation. Ugh. - Tobias - 03-17-2006 I hate it when the rectal thermometer breaks and all the white stuff splurts out. Ugh. - Super Buu - 03-17-2006 I've never blacked out, though my brother and dad have huge problems with seeing blood (I've never experienced it myself). Though I have broken my leg. Ugh. - Whompt - 03-17-2006 Yeah. It's pretty normal. Hell, there's days when I'll get anemic and dizzy more several times. I just throw down some control and fight it. The mind's stronger than the body. ^_~ Ugh. - Krillin - 03-17-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Blue That might be, but no amount of determination will keep you alive if your heart has exploded. Ugh. - Whompt - 03-17-2006 I beg to differ. I bet I could do it. There's nuthin that water and Motrin can't fix. Atleast that's what they tell us in the Army.
