Audition: Super Buu (YES) - Super Buu - 06-20-2006 Real Name: Greg Age: 17 Education Level: A-Levels at College. Registration Date: 28-10-2005 You will be judged on your answer in the following: 1) First and foremost, why should you be selected to play? More than one person has asked me the question: "how the hell do you know that!?" when I come out with a random memorised fact about the site. It could have been years before I joined, but for some reason I know a lot about things I shouldn't logically know. There's a simple explanation - I'm addicted to Chubbs. When I'm bored and there's nobody around to talk to, I read everyone's character vaults, or I pore over the roster page and chuckle at little things like Gohan's 'to irritate staff' ability. I just tend to memorise little things like that. Why is this relevant? Two reasons: firstly, because I'm here pretty much all of my free time. Admittedly, that's a little unfair to people with lives, but it's still noteworthy. Secondly, I know the site I'm dealing with. I like to think reading over the whole main site is a prerequisite to joining, but in reality, not that many people actually do. On more than one occasion, new joiners have AIMed me asking questions about the site, and I've utilised my Chubbs database-esque knowledge to give ridiculously thorough answers. Just ask Cell Jr if you need a testimony, kekeke. 2) What qualities do you possess that will make you the Idol? I think things through, and I cannot stand hastiness. In essence, I'm the complete opposite of the guy I roleplay. Whenever I make decisions that will affect more than one person, I always run it through with whoever else is involved first. Those who were with me in DA06 can vouch for that. This is especially important when it comes to things like, 'omg why did you hand out the saga rewards without running it by the rest of the staff first?'I like to think I'm pretty creative. Ideas are constantly buzzing around in my head, many of which have made their way onto the suggestions board. Some roleplaying fodder, others more clerical. The RPG already has a great deal of stuff content-wise, but there are always ways of making things simpler and fairer for everybody. 3) Tell me any previous experience you have with running an RPG. Included should be the name of the RPG, the genre, and how long it lasted. Not much, really. I ran my WoW clan's site (Zarbon can tell you - he was/is a member) for over 2 years, though it wasn't an RPG as such. I'd still say it's relevant, however, since I'm familiar with being a forum admin. I won FoF's 'Who Wants to be Staff?' contest alongside Roy Mustang (Android 20 here). The rules on the front page of the site, here, are written by me. Ironically, after trudging weeks through the whole thing and spending hours on the tasks, I was in the contest longer than I was actually a staff member. Not long afterwards I quit the site for personal reasons. 4) Finally, you need to write a short essay/description (200+ words) of what you feel being a staff member of Chubbs is all about. What do you think is nessecary, what do you think has to be done. Be detailed, as much as you can. Don't kiss our asses, we arn't looking for compliments. Fairness and consistency. Say a member does a quest/saga, and you're unsure how much you should reward them for it. Many people, in this situation, would pile up the reward to make sure that person is happy. I understand that this is a very bad way to operate. Why? Because later on, when you give someone else a more appropriate reward that's smaller, that person will be understandably pissed. That person will feel they've been under-rewarded. It's important to give each piece of writing your full attention, and judge fairly - not too much or too little. I also think it's about understanding and accepting the role you've been given. Many moderators on sites say "I'm still just a member, I haven't changed," but that, unfortunately, isn't not entirely true. People will view you differently. Your opinion will often be taken as a collective 'staff opinion', and you will be looked to for reason. My opinion is that if you can't handle being polite towards people, you shouldn't be staffing. Sure, it's not a paid job, but you aren't forced into being staff. You have to take the responsibility, or leave it - there's no halfway "I want to remain staff, but I don't want to really ... staff" option. That's one of the most important things of taking responsibility - knowing when to give it up. I willingly passed on the Chieftain position to my WoW clan when I didn't have the time anymore to run it. If there's someone who you know could be doing your job better than you, why obstinately cling to it? It's easy to say that, but it's a lot harder in practice. I know. Audition: Super Buu (YES) - Burter Jr - 06-20-2006 My only arguement is on the last paragraph. Being a polite, you're right, is nessecary. But not to the point where you're a robot that puts on an act the whole time. Yes Audition: Super Buu (YES) - Super Buu - 06-20-2006 To explain the whole politeness thing - by that, I mean having patience with people, even if they really get on your nerves. If they're just being impatient, then they don't really deserve your patience, and if they're being disrespectful towards you, then there's no reason to do the same back. However, if someone's trying their best, but failing miserably (ala sub-par joining roleplays) then it's nice to explain to them politely what they're doing wrong and try to help them improve. In other words, it's a mutual thing - you should start off giving someone else the respect, and if they don't give it back ... well, they're a jerk. In a nutshell.
