Pre-Liminary Round 1: BJ's Group - Burter Jr - 06-26-2006 Burter Jr Bujin Android Twenty Gohan Zarbon Goku Junior Burter Jr will supply you with a team-based task. He will decide who advances into the second pre-lim stage based off your performance during the task. Pre-Liminary Round 1: BJ's Group - Burter Jr - 06-26-2006 Everybody rate yourself AND your group-mates out of 10 on how you believe you/they will do in this competition. Be honest. This isn't a task, it's something I personally want to know. Pre-Liminary Round 1: BJ's Group - Burter Jr - 06-26-2006 Rate the others, too. Pre-Liminary Round 1: BJ's Group - Ruhiel - 06-26-2006 Bujin: Alright, to be honest, when you joined, I really had no clue who you were, and figured you'd just be one of those people that was here for a month, and then left once they got bored. Well, you severely proved me wrong since that day. You're very clear-minded about a lot of things, and I've never seen you say something mean to another member, which due to the fact that some members here have been very idiotic at times, and a few members have flame-baited, is quite an impressive trait. You don't allow yourself to be drug into those sort of things, which shows you have either have self-control, or just don't let those things bug you. Very good qualities to have. To be honest, I don't know much more about you as a person beyond observation, as I haven't gotten to know you very well beyond that. However, I hope to be able to figure that out as this contest progresses. I think you stand a chance at being the winner out of this group. In group: 8 out of 10 In entire game: 8 out of 10 Me: I've gotten some experience under my belt since the Apprentice, mainly from being a staffer on FoF. I know now what qualities a leader has to have in order for the group to be a success. I know how Chubbs works, what to do, what not to do, and what is just plain stupid. I also like to think that I do come up with the occassional creative idea, as well. However, I know that I'm not online all that often, and that I am a bit lazy at times. I also am really busy in real life, and that can cause problems for trying to be active on here. In group: 8 out of 10 In entire game: 7 out of 10 Gohan: Well, I know one thing, you've been here quite a bit longer than I have, and you most certainly know the ropes. You're easy to get along with, have experience with being a staff, and just seem like someone who should've been staff earlier. True, you didn't do very well in the last Apprentice, but I think you've come a long way since then, and you'll do far better in this competition. In group: 9 out of 10 In entire game: 7 out of 10 Zarbon: Dude, I've known you for, like, ever. You're a creative genius when you want to be, and really think out of the box as well. It's good to see that. However, you do have a tendency to not follow through with things that you're planning. I'm not saying you will now, it's just in the past, at lot of the plans you had never pulled through for one reason or another. You're also a busy guy, and have had some trouble remaining active here in the past. However, I think you always have the chance of turning that around. Plus, you have experience from the Apprentice on your side, so you do still have a shot. In group: 7 out of 10 In entire game: 5 out of 10 Goku Jr: I'm sorry, but I know pretty much diddly-squat about you. I've read some of your writing, and it's been steadily improving ever since you joined. However, as with Bujin, I've never spoken with you before, nor do I really have much else to judge on you except by observation. Again, you seem to be a good guy, and a really up-and-coming new member. I don't know how much experience you may have as far as leading other people, or being in a position of responsibility you may have though, so I can't really give you a fair rating. I hope that I'll be able to give a more accurate rating once the game progresses. In group: 7 out of 10 In entire game: 6 out of 10 Pre-Liminary Round 1: BJ's Group - Zarbon - 06-26-2006 Bujin: 'Kay. I'm going to give you a 8 on this one. Personally, I think you've got a lot of promise and potential, and might go far if you have the drive that you say you have. But, there are a lot better candidates. If you work at it though, you can pull through, as you have the experience to pull it off. Then again, I haven't seen any of the sites in your application, so I wouldn't know what level you are at when it comes to experience, plus, you originally joined as a 'meh' person. But that's why you're 8, dude. =/ Android Twenty: Alright, I'm going to give you a nice big fat 9 here. You've helped with a site or two (Pine Valley) and have a ton of leadership skills (how you have managed to keep GMC alive this long is beyond me, even with Krillin's help, that's a challenge that requires a trophy.) There is only one little pitfall for you buddy, and that is that you are insanely busy. I remember you are on up to 5 sites as of now. That, I think, is a couple too many. Going for this could make your head explode or something. Gohan: 9. You are a great guy, but I'm unsure about you being a staff member. Mostly because I never see you that often, and IC, while not as bad as me, it?s so-so when it comes to activity. However, going with MoA shows you?re in the game right now, so I think you?ll do well. Still uncertain, however. As you can see by the score, I'm leaning towards a certain side of the scale. A good side, I'm sure. Zarbon: Alright. Me. Here we go. 7. Right. I may be cool and all, am determined to do this, and have a bit of creativity on my side, but I know I have a long road to become a staff member. After all, I don't have any experience whatsoever, other than maybe being in the App for two rounds, but I know that?s nothing. Especially how I did both those rounds. Plus, I'm a pretty inactive guy IC, and I have to avoid that. Who wants to be a Broly? I'm going straighten myself out though. I'm too overcritical to let myself look like an ass. Otherwise, I'd give myself much lower than 7. Goku Junior: 7. I don?t know you at well, and I don?t think many people do. However, not many people saw Krillin through at first. So, I think you have a chance. You have a great application, and I believe in you. Well, as much as a fellow competitor can. Pre-Liminary Round 1: BJ's Group - Burter Jr - 06-26-2006 Goku Jr? Gohan? Pre-Liminary Round 1: BJ's Group - Toshiro - 06-26-2006 Gohan: Meh.. I'd say maybe a 8 Bujin: 6 Android Twenty: 8 Zarbon: 6 Goku Junior: 5 Btw, sorry for the delay, was meeting Bec's >.> Pre-Liminary Round 1: BJ's Group - Burter Jr - 06-27-2006 Alright, the task will be up tommorrow, likely. Android Twenty will be the "Admin" and will lead. Gohan will be the "Super Mod" and be second in charge. Everyone else is just the "Mods." The rankings ended up as: Android Twenty Gohan Bujin Goku Junior Zarbon Pre-Liminary Round 1: BJ's Group - Burter Jr - 06-27-2006 Alright, time for a familar task for some of you. You will be finding one thing wrong with Chubbs to needs to be fixed, and then go through the process of fixing it. Now it sounds simple, but you need to be very specific, very descriptive, and very professional. Everybody needs to contribute. This should not be a one-man show. Pre-Liminary Round 1: BJ's Group - Ruhiel - 06-27-2006 I'm assuming we can use this thread to discuss ideas and get organized? Or does all that need to be done through PMs, and the final product posted here? Pre-Liminary Round 1: BJ's Group - Burter Jr - 06-27-2006 Quote:All questions to the group leaders and communication to your group should go in the group thread Pre-Liminary Round 1: BJ's Group - Ruhiel - 06-27-2006 Alright, well, let's all point out one thing that we think needs to be changed, and then once everyone's put out their idea, or refrained from stating an idea, we vote on our options. And then run with it from there. Of course, if we run into a tie, or people start getting indecisive, I'll simply make the decision for us. I'm still thinking of what the most important thing to change would be is at the moment. I'll post mine as soon as I figure it out. Pre-Liminary Round 1: BJ's Group - Ruhiel - 06-27-2006 I'm leaning towards what Bujin said now. The main page info needs to be overhauled completely. But that's too broad, we need to narrow down exactly what it is that needs to be fixed, not the entire thing. Pre-Liminary Round 1: BJ's Group - Toshiro - 06-27-2006 I would change the Tech's. Mainly update them completely with not just some re-newed information, but with the new tech's added in. And thanks for the "SMod" posotion Reb. On a more on challenge note: I dunno exactly how to pinpoint a must needed selection of informotion. Pre-Liminary Round 1: BJ's Group - Ruhiel - 06-28-2006 Well, does everyone agree that we need to change the main site itself? Zarbon, GJ? I'm more than willing to listen to what your all's input on this, it just seems that at the moment, the general consesus is that the main site needs revamping. Also, Bujin, I'd prefer not to edit the ENTIRE main page. I already attempted to lead a group in completely redesigning Chubbs, and even the main page itself was impossible to complete. So, let's focus on one particular area, and then branch out from there as time allows us. We only have 72 hours. Pre-Liminary Round 1: BJ's Group - Toshiro - 06-28-2006 Might I note.. Charecter Changing will always be a problem. By altering the stat reducitions, your increasing the want for people to change chars. When all they are really doing is changing the looks of a person they can completely redisgn to the very soul of their fiber. The only think I know of that can not change with a person, is their blood ties. Simple as. So, kindly, why should charecter changing actully be allowed to be used when only the aformentioned is not taken in to account? Pre-Liminary Round 1: BJ's Group - Zarbon - 06-28-2006 Sorry I'm late. Personally, I agree with Buijin and Goku Jr. on this one. The main page is far too general. We are supposed to be changing something about Chubbs. A little outdated page not changing something. Its more like fixing it up. Character Changing has known to be a problem for sometime, with various ideas coming in the form of suggestions in the Q/S/U. It's a really good idea to get a solid idea to fix it. While Gohan is right, it will always be a problem, just like dolphins dying from product waste, a better system would be better to stop newer people from changing before getting used to their character, but also allowing an easy change if it gets to the point where the person really wants to change. GJ, your idea is not bad, as it encourages getting it right the first time, but I think you should go farther then just a 10 point increase each time. Keep the score 10 as a base, as that would be good. Think of 10 as the first change. So, it would go like this. 10 + 10 = 20 20 + 15 = 35 35 + 20 = 55 Now, this may seem a tad extreme, so, we could change the starting interval just a tad. 10 + 5 = 15 15 + 10 = 25 25 + 15 = 40 And etc. That seems alot less, no? It isn't really, but it still maintains the effect I'm going for, to get it people to change right the first few times if they are going too, and from there, well, too bad so sad. As for Bujin. 2. Personally, I disagree with tightening joining requirements just to stop a person from changing later on. Joining is already brutal enough on some joinees. Its a pretty high bar to jump. Just forcing them to think about it more could draw them away. We don't want to draw people away from Chubbs, even if they are Great Saiyaman back there, as they could improve over years here if they manage to get past their joining request. At our current settings, the bar is low enough to let some people that tried so they can improve. Any higher, and they wouldn't bother trying. So, no. I disagree on this one. 3. I agree with the first part. That would be great to help see the bright side of their character, and also them to say 'sexay' towards a non-transformer, instead of being blinded by the idea that DBZ basically presented: 'zomg!!1!1 saayins are teh uberr!!1!'. However, on the second, I disagree. You shouldn't force someone to take a certain character, or to keep it. You can, however, present the plus and minuses of the character and let him decide from there. That would make you seem less 'bossy.' Think of it as a 'are you sure you want to quit?' 4. See two for the part about the stricter join rules part. A part about joining's seriousness could be put on the join page however, as a bold warning. 5. Good idea. I agree completely. However, the list would be very hard to maintain. One or two staff members would have to maintain it on top of their own jobs, and keep track of who's joining, leaving, and etc. It's not impossible, easy in fact. But, its a time waster. I suggest having a list of all characters, with a quickly changable A or NA. Zarbon = NA Bujin = NA Some Guy Who Went Inactive = A That would be alot easier, and still effective with a legend at the top. A = Available N = Not Available 6. We should at least give them a chance to switch. Look at what I commented on GJ for an idea. One that became larger in the long run would be good. It gives a chance just in case, but is a threat if it goes on, which gives people, if they haven't got the right character after all these percautions, a chance or two to correct their problem. 7. I don't get what you mean here. Peer pressure? Ya. I think this would help the character problem quite a bit Bujin. Good ideas. For Gohan's question: could you rephrase that? Because, I have no idea what you are trying to say there. Pre-Liminary Round 1: BJ's Group - Toshiro - 06-28-2006 I think the one thing that I would change/remove from Chubbs.. Is the fact that people CAN change char's. I'd say it can only be acceptable under cases where the person can't actully write with them, and not just a simpel case of "I wanna change to him because I like him more". crap. And the question was: why allow them to actully change at all? Pre-Liminary Round 1: BJ's Group - Zarbon - 06-28-2006 Because, we have no right to stop a writer's path, no matter where it leads. Including a new character. No matter what the reason too. Otherwise, it will cause people to leave. And no one wants a person to really leave. They could be Chubbs' next saga winner. Pre-Liminary Round 1: BJ's Group - Burter Jr - 06-28-2006 You guys need to have a decision on what your topic will be by evening USA EST time tonight (which is like, 8-9 hours). Failure to do so will result in someone being eliminated. If Admin is not on to make the call, the SM will do it. If neither SM or Admin are on to do it, a Mod will have to take charge. |
