Pre-Liminary Round 1: Krillin's Group - Burter Jr - 06-26-2006 Krillin Cargo Bardock Toma Tapion Krillin will supply you with a team-based task. He will decide who advances into the second pre-lim stage based off your performance during the task. Pre-Liminary Round 1: Krillin's Group - Krillin - 06-26-2006 Each of you need to think up two new Techniques for Chubbs each, in 48 hours. If you do not have two Techs in 48 hours, you will be immediately disqualified. Be creative with it, but be realistic. Suggest something we'd want to actually use for the site. Post them in here when you're cool with it. Go. Pre-Liminary Round 1: Krillin's Group - OldYamcha - 06-27-2006 We can make up requirements and race reqs too right? For example, a Namek power-up and something like a ki sense tech. Is that okay? Pre-Liminary Round 1: Krillin's Group - Bardock - 06-27-2006 Here you go, chief: Short-circuit While most techniques are designed to either supplement the user?s fighting ability or hinder their opponent?s, this handy little ability can temporarily disable supportive electrical devices within a limited radius?similar to that of an EMP wave. Problematic tools such as scouters and Battle Chargers will be down for the count until they are able to reboot! The downside? This attack is impartial, meaning your items will be disabled as well! Unfortunately, this technique is restricted to simplistic machines: complex circuitry, such as that of androids, cyborgs, ships, headquarters, and any installable upgrades of the aforementioned are unaffected. Charging up this wave takes a long accumulation of energy and once expelled, another wave must be built. Hence, it cannot be used in rapid succession. (Affected Items: Cloaking Device, Dragon Radar, Battle Charger, Scouter (standard and L.E.N.S., excluding Solar Protection), Graviton Bracelet, Active Location Tracer/Upgrade, Ki Globe, Battle Visor) Body Swap This ability allows you to change places with another living body of energy. It is a limited variant of teleportation, as the object of exchange must be within visible sight. This can be extremely useful, in that it could be used to switch places with a long-range attacker so they are on the receiving end, or to be able to quickly save someone in the path of a devastating blast. In order for it to work, the user must be able to see the object of exchange and their precise location, and it requires a great deal of concentration. Body Swap is highly ineffective against fast bodies of energy, and nearly impossible against those which are constantly moving, as they are much harder to lock onto. Pre-Liminary Round 1: Krillin's Group - Krillin - 06-27-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Toma Whatever you want. Just make two Techs. Pre-Liminary Round 1: Krillin's Group - Jinpo - 06-27-2006 Here are my techs: The first one is a technique that was missing and I felt would lead for interesting RP in the afterlife. It also brings the Supreme Kai back into the fold a little bit. Mystic Power ? After Training with King Kai, those who are deemed exceptional are allowed to train with the Supreme Kai. The Supreme Kai holds the secret to unlock all of the potential in any person and unleash their ultimate power. The person and the Supreme Kai sit across from each other as the Kai works his magic. This is by no means a short process. When the procedure is complete, there is no physical change when the fighter activates this, but the power increase is obvious. Requirements: 2,000,000 Ki, 450 Determination, training with Supreme Kai Multiplier: x50 Ki Species: All Futuresight ? This technique, as the name suggests, allows the user to see a short time into the future. Baba is the only person who can teach this technique, and she doesn?t teach it to many. It takes two weeks of intense mental traning with her to fully master the technique. While this technique can be helpful in averting disasters, it is not perfect. If the user does not fully concentrate on this task, the vision that they see could be off or ended prematurely. Also, it takes almost a full minute of focus before any vision is seen. This leaves the user vulnerable to an attack. Pre-Liminary Round 1: Krillin's Group - Jinpo - 06-27-2006 I made two more techniques I like these techniques better and they are more original. You can replace the other ones with these . . . Astral Projection? The Astral Projection technique is the ability to separate one?s own spirit from their body. The spirit of the user can be sent where the user tells it to go. Can be used for scouting purposes or, if totally mastered, possession. The spirit cannot be sensed by a scouter, so it is a useful spying technique. However, this technique leaves the body vulnerable to an attack. If the body of the user is damaged or killed, then the spirit is damaged or killed as well. This technique can be learned from Baba. Level One? The user can send their spirit anywhere on the planet that they are currently on. The spirit can only be sensed by people who have telepathy or someone who has higher mentals than the user. The spirit can be away from the body for a small amount of time. Requirements ? 600 Mentals Level Two? A more advanced level of the technique. The user can send their spirit to any planet in the known universe. The spirit can only be sensed by people who have telepathy or someone who has higher mentals than the user. The spirit can be away from the body for around an hour IC. Requirements ? 750 Mentals Level Three? This is the highest level of Astral Projection. The user can send their spirit to any planet in the known universe or the Afterlife. The spirit can only be sensed by people who have telepathy or someone who has higher mentals than the user. Possession is possible when mastery of this technique has been achieved but it is very hard to keep control of it. The spirit can be away from the body as long as the user can keep his concentration. If the user chooses to possess someone, the time they can remain out of their body is cut a lot shorter. Requirements ? 1000 Mentals Teleportation Rift ? This is rather unique form of transportation. This is a technique that gives the user the ability to create a rift in the space-time continuum. When Teleportation Rift is used, the user opens up a portal that leads to another location. This can be used to teleport anything that enters the portal. (i.e. Ki Blasts). The user can also teleport himself to any location that he chooses. The major drawback to this technique is that it requires an enormous amount of ki to use. The farther away the user chooses to teleport something, the more ki is consumed. If one attempts to use Teleportation Rift without enough ki, he will be transported as far as their ki will take them and be completely drained. Pre-Liminary Round 1: Krillin's Group - The Not Cool Not Tapion - 06-27-2006 Teleportation Block - With this technique, a person can stop another from transporting himself. There are two levels of this. Level One- If the person using this technique can see the person attempting to teleport he can block it from happening, leaving them stranded on the planet unless they take a ship. This requires no distractions so if they get distracted then the block with be stopped and they can leave. This includes people trying to use Instant Transmission or Kai Kai teleportation or any other type. Level Two - The person using this technique has to be on the same planet and sense their energy. If they knew the energy they are currently sensing is able to teleport they can keep it blocked. The person using this technique doesn't have to sit and mediate and also if the person using this technique can see them, they can keep a block on them even when distracted. Energy Block - Like teleportation block, this technique will stop a creature from doing something. In this case it stops them from powering up, flying, or firing a simple ki blast. There are two levels to this. This does not stop bonuses from armors or cloaks. Level One - The person using this technique must be within fifteen feet and it stops them from powering up and from flying only. Ki blasts can be shot. You are able to move around and fight while doing this. Level Two - The person using this technique just has to be able to see the other person and stops the persons energy fully including ki blasts. But it also effects all people in a twenty foot radius including themselves. Pre-Liminary Round 1: Krillin's Group - OldYamcha - 06-28-2006 Mental Disguise - By focusing ki into telepathy, the user can project the image of another object onto himself, disguising him from other people. This can be either in the memories of the user, or a nearby object. This projection is broken however by the touch of an outsider. General Requirements - Telepathy. Level One - The user can diguise himself from one person, for a short period of time. In this time, the user can not concentrate on anything but this. In this first level, it takes quite enough ki to use. The item itself can not be very complex. Requirements - Mentals on 600. Level Two - The user can disguise himself from one person, in a little longer than Level Two, the user being able to stay under a disguise for about five minutes. The item can be more complex in this level. Requirements - Mentals on 700 Level Three - The user can disguise himself from a group of people, for a shorter period of time however. This can be up to 3 minutes. The user can concentrate on something else during that time and it requires less ki. The item can be as complex as the user wishes. Requirements - Mentals on 850 Level Four - The user can disguise himself from a group, for up to ten minutes. The ki cost is small, the technique coming natural at this level. The item can be as complex as the user wishes. The user doesn't need to concentrate a lot on projecting that image. Requirements - Mentals on 1000 Materialise - The user is able to create an item as he wishes, however this item has neither the resistance not the power of the real item. He is able to create a weapon, a vehicle, or any device he wishes. These items however, do not have any ability the real one has. A scouter created with this ability does not have the power to read power-levels, it is an empty case. This is mostly used for decoys, and for psychological war. The user can also create trees, images of persons, almost anything. The more ki is put in it, the more resistant is the item. At early stages, this ability uses up almost all ki, the cost being reduced through training. These are my two techniques. Pre-Liminary Round 1: Krillin's Group - Krillin - 06-28-2006 Alright. Each of you made two Techs. And now, I'm supposed to rate each of them, tell you how well/poorly you did, and make judgments based upon that, right? That'd be pretty boring, I say. Only three of these Techs will be accepted onto the site (fictionally). Decide amongst yourselves which three of these eight are worthy enough to be implemented onto the site. These means at least one person will not have any of his Techs accepted. You have two days to reach a conclusion. Remember, this is a team effort. All four of you need to discuss this with one another for the decision. Go. Pre-Liminary Round 1: Krillin's Group - OldYamcha - 06-28-2006 I guess we'll have to talk here, seeing as how I don't have AIM and I'm not allowed to install it. I think a shoe-in is Bardock Short-Circuit and Cargo's Astral Projection. I suggest everyone posts what they think the best two are, choose two in a team out of the ones we chosen. Then we choose another one out of the two members who are left. Possibly me and Tapion, or me and someone else. ...Yes, I'm pessimist >.> I can't get far without AIM ![]() Anyway those are my two choices, posted above. Pre-Liminary Round 1: Krillin's Group - The Not Cool Not Tapion - 06-28-2006 Well since this is a team effort I think we should all put our three favorites based on our opinion and see if we all have a common one maybe. Give reasons behind each too. First for short circuit would this shut down a whole android? That would be sweet. Or maybe the android core is too complicated. We need to decide that. But other than that my three are Short Circuit based on the fact it's something new and original and can actually be useful and isn't too powerful. I don't know if it really had to mess with your own items as well, I think you could choose one at a time and stop it or something. Energy Block I am trying to be the least unbiased but I like this. When perfected it will just leave it to an all out brawl between you and your opponent as your energy will both be down. Mental Disguise I picked this one because no others really interested me and this could end up being interesting except Telepathy isn't the most common technique right now. I didn't choose the others because thinking on a chubbs standpoint, they aren't needed. I can't see Body Swap actually being used often, my Teleportation Block really may be useless because who cares if one person is teleporting. Maybe if it was an alliance or something, but I'm not sure. Materialize, well, we have metal binding where you can make weapons when you get it better. Astral Projection I do really like, though, except I don't know what it would be used for. Spying? Woowee. Maybe to get in an alliance's bunker but I don't think it is really necessary but I did like it. Teleportation rift I was considering but I don't think another teleportation is needed. There is IT and Kai Kai and teletubes and ships. I think that's all we need. Any other opinions? Pre-Liminary Round 1: Krillin's Group - Bardock - 06-28-2006 Okay, let's take a step back for a second. Bardock: - Short Circuit - Body Swap Cargo: - Astral Projection - Teleportation Rift Tapion: - Teleportation Block - Energy Block Toma: - Mental Disguise - Materialize Three of the techniques on that list (Body Swap, Teleportation Rift, Teleportation Block) involve teleportation in some way or another: one that teleports bodies, one that teleports attacks/user, and one that blocks teleportation. Idealistically, only one of those should be picked, versus redundancy and thus giving a wider array of ability types. Or, should the decision be made to pick more than one, they could be incorporated as some sort of degree of teleportation mastery. I am in favor of the first option. Now, my personal analysis: Cargo: Astral Projection is cool. I would rather have it in place of Possession, because it has a wider range of uses (in the hypothetical instance of replacement, the third level could be trained for in Hell, versus learning on your own or from Baba). Teleportation Rift appears to be Instant Transmission with an added bonus, of which I think could be just a normal combo move or something rather than a trainable technique. Tapion: I like Teleportation Block. It's balanced enough so that it's hard to abuse, and would be very useful in that you could level the playing field with an obnoxious teleporter. Energy Block, however, seems a little god-modey, even with the restrictions put on it. Toma: Mental Disguise = glorified version of Shapechange, something we already have. Materialize has potential as an illusory ability, because instead of changing yourself, you can change something else. That's just me. I think it would be a good idea for everyone to voice their opinions on the options, and then we can come to a concensus on the desired three. Is there all a time where we can be on for a chat or something within the next two days? Pre-Liminary Round 1: Krillin's Group - Bardock - 06-28-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Tapion Pre-Liminary Round 1: Krillin's Group - OldYamcha - 06-28-2006 @Bardock We will never be all at the same time online, I'm in a tottaly different time-zone, I don't have AIM/IRC. So, we'll dicuss it here. I think we've all got Short-Circuit as a common choice. Also, Bardock...what are your choices. Unless I'm mistaken, you just commented on all of them. :-\ I think the best idea is to list what you think should go in, almost all did that now, the common one is a shoe-in, then choose between the other ones, talking here. We'll need to wait for Cargo. Pre-Liminary Round 1: Krillin's Group - Hellfighter 17 - 06-28-2006 I thought Krillin meant two techniques from each individual person, not two techniques for the collective group. It sounded as though you are trying to tie it down to just two, but if you are just trying to help, cool. Pre-Liminary Round 1: Krillin's Group - Jinpo - 06-28-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Bardock Ok. Well I think that we all agree that Short Circuit is one of the techniques that we are selecting. It is unique and something that we could use. Now, to pick two from the other nine is tougher. So I'll list the pros and cons I'll see with each Body Swap - Useful for fighting but not much else. Astral Projection - You can see what is going on anywhere without being seen. More useful than a scouter because a scouter shows power levels while with this technique you can see the whole situtation. Possession is a bonus, but the possession that this provides is not as good as the other one. You can only stay in the body for a limited amount of time and your body is vulnerable to anything. However, that is not the main use of this technique. Teleportation Rift - You can teleport with it. Useful in fighting. Uses up energy. With this there would be a lot of ways to teleport and could make teleportation a common technique that requires less to be earned. Teleportation Block - Would nullify the many ways to teleport. Useful when someone wants to kill someone else in rp. However, it is vague. They can't teleport until they get a ship? Why and how does that happen? The person should be able to transport after a certain amount of time. It's good but the description needs to be refined. Energy Block - Interesting technique. Useful is an opponent is well versed in energy attacks. Allows for interesting rp. We don't have any techs like this. However, if this is used, the person with a higher ki would most always win the fight. It doesn't allow for any surprises. Also, there should be a way to counter this technique to make it. Mental Disguise - Useful evasion technique. However, it seems to me that this is too much like Shapechange. Materialize - Um . . . there is nothing really wrong with this technique but it seems too much like FMA to me. I think DBZ is about ki fighting, not fighting with weapons or creating vehicles. Based on this, the techs that I would choose are: Short Circuit, Astral Projection, and Energy Block/Teleportation Block I can't decide between the two Tapion techniques. Pre-Liminary Round 1: Krillin's Group - OldYamcha - 06-28-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Krillin @HF : Look above >.> Oh and Cargo, I forgot to mention in the details, but after Level 1 (meaning Lvl2 and so on) you can actually modify and existing object to look like that. Modifying it is like Shapechange on another object, rather than oyurself. It won't be able to do the stuff the newer one do, but acts as a decoy. For example, touch your opponents wrist-watch and modify it into a bomb. Make them think it really is a bomb, and make them give in. That's called psychological war. Also, my three are: Short-Circuit, Astral Projection, Materialise. Pre-Liminary Round 1: Krillin's Group - Hellfighter 17 - 06-28-2006 Krillin should totally send me a memo of every decision he make sbefore he thinks it. Sorry about that, guys. =\ Pre-Liminary Round 1: Krillin's Group - Krillin - 06-28-2006 Remember guys, you aren't obligated to spread out the chosen Techs amongst you. If someone has two Techs you think are kickass, pick both of them, and leave the other two contestants wallowing behind. Just wanted to make that known. To this point, it sounded like you were trying to spread them out and meet some sort of quota. If you guys could start finalizing your selections by midnight tonight (my time. In other words, in twelve hours), then we could roll along. That's not a super stone-set deadline, but it'd be nice. |
