Bases/Locations - Burter Jr - 09-16-2006 Bases of Operation Watch Towers - Used to see who is in the surrounding squares. Definetly a must have on the borders of any country. Village - A small civilan base. Used for supplies (3 Villages in one square make a city) Checkpoint - Just a military post with some stationed soldiers. Can be upgraded into a Supply Checkpoint in order to be used for supplies Fort - A military base made especially for keeping an area secure. Can be upgraded into a fortress, which can keep civilans safe as well as be extra defensive Castle - The big-daddy. Only one per army, located in the far corners of the continent. Bases/Locations - Bardock - 09-18-2006 I used to be a hardcore C&C player, so that's mostly where I can draw inspiration from. Are armies allowed to build things? Bases/Locations - Burter Jr - 09-18-2006 Yea. Armies start with two villages, a city and a castle. That's it. It's an absolutely nessecity to build things. Bases/Locations - Burter - 09-26-2006 How much each takes up. Towers - 1/4 Village - 1/4 (3 Villages = City) Checkpoint - 1/2 (3/4 w. Supply Checkpoint) Fort - 3/4 (Whole Square w. Fortress) City - 3/4 Castle - Whole Square Agreements? Anything I should add? EDIT: Adding City as an upgrade to Village Bases/Locations - Raditzu - 09-26-2006 So... can people make or place these locations? And if so, how do they go about doing it? Bases/Locations - Burter - 09-26-2006 They would have to remain in place as they set it up. The time they remain there will depend on what they are making. A village, for example, may take 2 days, but a fort would take at least 5. None of that is finalized, feel free to work on it and perfect it Bases/Locations - Raditzu - 09-26-2006 So Bob goes to square D7 and finds a village with his A Unit. He says "woot, i love villages" and parks A Unit there for a few days and tells his unit to capture the village and turn it into a City. That the gist of it? Bases/Locations - Burter - 09-26-2006 No, it's not finding a village. It's making one Bob goes to D7 and says "lets make da villag!" So they camp out and work on it. 3 days later, Bobland is born! Then civilans start moving on the next day or so. To make a city, Bob would have to two more villages, and they would all form Bobland Omega. Bases/Locations - Raditzu - 09-27-2006 And purposes do the various sites serve? Bases/Locations - Burter - 09-27-2006 ...Huh? Bases/Locations - Raditzu - 09-27-2006 What's the point of having a village or city? What do they do? Bases/Locations - Burter - 09-27-2006 I haven't got around to making a full post on it, but we're incorporating a supply line type feature. The village and cities help making your supply line and getting food/supplies to your units out on the field Bases/Locations - Raditzu - 09-27-2006 Then its kind of hard to form any real opinions on the system. Bases/Locations - Burter - 09-27-2006 Josh is on it Bases/Locations - Bardock - 09-27-2006 How about destruction/rebuilding? Materials/money for building? Stealing blueprints and being able to use other army technology? Or are they going to have similar technology? It would be fun to have cheat codes...like "Cheese Steak Jimmys" and "Black Sheep" EDIT: Speaking of "Black Sheep," is there going to be a form of radar? Since the other locations are blacked out to an army, it's kind of like a fog of war. I think it would be cool to have replenishing fog of war, when radar stops receiving feed from a particular square. This would keep an element of mystery in other troops' movements. Like, one day you see some soldiers grouped up in a square and the area is clear, and the next day, a fog of war covers the squares and you can't see what route they're taking. Good idea/bad idea? Bases/Locations - Burter - 09-27-2006 Scouts will able to see in all surrounding spaces. Watch towers will be able to see within two spaces. Destroying and rebuilding stuff is fine. Not so hot on the money idea. "Blueprints" and stuff might work if you beat an army who has earned better units then you Bases/Locations - Bardock - 10-01-2006 Do all bases/locations require supplies, i.e., watchtowers? Bases/Locations - Burter - 10-01-2006 No, just the units on the battlefield. They can't just make their own, where-as those at a building, with places to keep food/supplies can |
