Consoles named after body parts - Whompt - 11-19-2006 So, my roommate went ahead and bought a Wii today. Once I got over my hangover, I checked it out. Gotta say I'm impressed. Twilight Princess ftw! Though, the fact that the controller makes it own sounds is kinda annoying. And the gay sound it makes when the "cursor" moves over the screen. Consoles named after body parts - Super Buu - 11-19-2006 Damn it, don't make the waiting worse! I'm currently organising my money and the pre-ordering of my stuff (it doesn't come out here until the 8th). I might have to cut out Marvel: Ultimate Alliance until christmas, and ditch any extras like the Retro controller/Wii Points Card/SCART cable/extra remotes and nunchuks. Yeah, you can tell I'm overthinking this. =( Consoles named after body parts - Whompt - 11-19-2006 What's that? I wasn't paying attention, SB. I'm just too busy playing with my Wii. [/flaunt] Consoles named after body parts - Super Buu - 11-19-2006 ;( ... How is it? Consoles named after body parts - Tapion - 11-19-2006 I hate you Spopovich....
Consoles named after body parts - Super Buu - 11-19-2006 Gamespot seems to be the minority, as far as scores go. IGN gave it a 9.5, citing it as 'the greatest Zelda game ever created', and Metacritic gave this. What I'm glad of is that, apparently, the nunchuk controls actually complement the game and make it better, making aiming much more quick and intuitive, as well as making horseriding combat easy. I had been worrying that, since it was originally designed for the Cube, the Wii controls might just be tacked on and Cube controller might actually be superior. Now I can sleep easy. XD Red Steel's getting mixed scores. Some magazines are giving it 9, others are giving it 5. Personally I'd go with Far Cry - it's not out yet for the US, but it's going to be a EU launch title and should be out for you guys by Christmas. Mainly I just want to punch people into the air using the Wiimote. >_> Consoles named after body parts - Whompt - 11-19-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Super Buu I can't even think of a word that would convey how great the game plays. The little nunchuck thing? Best controller idea ever. Consoles named after body parts - Raditzu - 11-19-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Vegeta Well that's a dumb argument. I'm excited as hell for Zelda and I didn't even know GameSpot rated games. Consoles named after body parts - Metal Koola - 11-20-2006 Zelda: TP is the one that's a remake of the original, isn't it? Wasn't it supposed to be released on both the GC and Wii, or am I just listening to false rumors? Consoles named after body parts - Raditzu - 11-20-2006 Its being released on both. Consoles named after body parts - Whompt - 11-20-2006 I just talked to a friend about the Wii, who's convinced that it will die out in less than a year. He claims they just don't have enough backing to make it, whereas Sony and Microsoft do. Honestly, I think he's underestimating just how great the system plays. Personally, I believe Nintendo just made it's great comeback with this system. What do you guys think? Will Nintendo be able to compete with the PS3 and 360 until the next gen of systems come out? Consoles named after body parts - Metal Koola - 11-20-2006 It's hard to say. I thought Gamecube was a great system, but it bombed horribly (in my eyes). They had maybe 2 or 3 good games, but when they were competing with the online capabilities of Xbox and the amazing library of the PS2, including all the RPG's (which is what was the major seller in japan) they didn't stand a chance. If the Wii comes out with a decent RPG, maybe even a NEW rpg franchise, I think that'll definitely get them a lot of backing. Consoles named after body parts - Krillin - 11-20-2006 Wii > PS3/Xbox360 It's still too early to tell who will win between PS3 and Xbox360 for second place, but I think it's pretty safe to say that Nintendo will win this gen. Easily. They're using the strategy that made the DS such a success: Target those who would not normally buy a system. They're the only ones doing this. Nintendo realized a long time ago that there's this large demographic that lays untapped. DS tapped that demographic. The Wii will try (and probably will) do the same. It's appeal to hardcore gamers is obvious as well. Take a glance at the GameFAQs polls. GameFAQs is known for being hardcore, and anti-Nintendo. Yet, according to the polls, Nintendo has roughly twice as much support as the PS3. Twice. That's quite a jump. The Wii wins, hands down. It's launch is spectacular, by Zelda alone. I've heard nothing but good reports about this game. With MP3, Super Mario Galaxies, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the way, with countless other great games that haven't been mentioned, this will be THE system of the future. The only two games I'll be missing from other systems is Halo 3 for the Xbox 360, and Final Fantasy XIII on the PS3. Consoles named after body parts - Downy Peach - 11-20-2006 Off-topic, but worth the ask. Anyone here, come christmas, going to get Gears of War from the Xbox 360? I don't think it's that bad, but maybe just a little overrated. Consoles named after body parts - Super Buu - 11-20-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Metal KoolaTP is completely new. =D Though it does bear similarity to OOT. Consoles named after body parts - Metal Koola - 11-20-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Tapion It's a fun game, but my roommate beat it in 2 days. Yet to see the online play yet though. Renting it seems like a surefire way to save some cash. Consoles named after body parts - Raditzu - 11-20-2006 Will you guys stop saying who is and isn't the best? Its just gotten to the point of annoyance now. X-Box 360 is winning. That's the only fact that can be said of next gen consoles right now. Frankly, its all a matter of taste. Everyone says the GameCube bombed and was horrible and I would disagree with every one of them. There were a lot of games I liked for the the GameCube and I still play it. Everyone raves about X-Box Live like its the newest thing around. Christ, ever heard of a computer? And, just so y'all know, the North American market is not the only one people are targetting. Don't take quotes about US sales to be final. They're not. Not even close. Seriously, there is absolutely no way to tell who will "win," so stop talking in definitives just because you want your favorite console to do the best. Consoles named after body parts - Metal Koola - 11-20-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Metal Koola And he's not a big gamer, so saying it took 2 days is something. edit - well I quoted myself when I meant to edit, woops. Consoles named after body parts - Raditzu - 11-20-2006 Quote:Originally posted by Metal Koola Waff and I beat the co-op in one night. Its very pretty and incredibly immersive, but not hard to play through. When everyone was totting it as "the next Halo" I assumed they were talking about the online play, which I also have not seen. Consoles named after body parts - Vegeta - 11-20-2006 and adding to Rad's post the sales figures are based on units sold to retailers, not to consumers. in effect, they tell you nothing. seriously, Krillin, go play your Wii and i'll go play my PS3 and we can agree to not post about either. edit: the co-op was really fun actually. but low replay value for the story at least. knowing who made it I bet the multiplayer is awesome. |
