If you're comfortable, I was wondering where some of you went to college, what your majors are, and what you plan on doing after your undergraduate degree.
Myself, I go to the College of Wooster in Ohio. It's a very small, Private, liberal arts college that is second in the nation (to Princeton) in its independent study program. In fact, I start my junior independent study here in a couple weeks, so that should really kick my ass. Chances are, I'll post tid bits of it here for you guys to check for those interested in Philosophy.
I'm a Pre-law / Philosophy major, communication minor. I just wrapped up an internship with the Philadelphia 76ers (Public Relations department). For those of you interested in any sort of internship for any type of field, I HIGHLY recommend you do it. There is nothing that looks better on a resume than an internship in the field in which you want to work. In fact, my experiences in Philly swayed me to wanting to get my masters in PR at Syracuse.
Other little college info about me: I played football for two years for the fighting Scots but I contracted something called recurring concussion syndrome. Essentially, my brain won't reattach itself inside my head and I can't take hits any more. It's ok though, I've been on the track team for the past two years now, and I'm going into my third as the unofficial long sprint captain.

I'm at the University of Arkansas. I'm undeclared.
I'll probably do business, or major in biology and be a doctor, or get a teaching degree.
Yeah. It's all different, I know.

Currently at community college, I'm so glad I didn't start off at a four year college because I changed my major four times. I finally settled with english and english education and will be done this summer.
I plan on transferring to a 4-year afterwards. J&W university or the Art Institute of NC. Don't know which one though. I might play football if I get the OK from my doctor about my knee.
But once I transfer I'll be majoring in culinary arts and my second will have to do with owning a resturant so it'll probably be business.

Went to University of Arizona for a year before being kick out due to poor grades. Went to Community College for a couple semesters before realizing I had no fucking clue what I wanted to do. Currently taking a break for a semester and heading back next spring with an actual major in mind...well business in general but something in the banking field.

How does that work? How you major in English at a com. college, and then major in something different at a 4 year. Doesn't everything transfer over? Or are you planning on doing an entrie set of 4 years in addition to your com. major?

Accounting perhaps?

See I was thinking accounting, but I might want to go more into lending. Im taking the semester off to actualy work (I work at a Credit Union) and figure out which part interests me the most. I know right now its something I am going to go into, I just don't know accounting or lending, or just basic managment. Im not sure at the moment right now, but what ever I do, all its gonna be is a steady paycheck so I can write my novel.

Yea it'll transfer over, more than likely I'll get my associates in english and english education, transfer the remaining credits to the 4 year and just get a associates degree in culinary arts from there.
If the com. college I attend now still had their culinary arts program I'd get it from there, but they got rid of it the year before I graduated from high school.

Well I suggest you stray away from management. Seemingly, the more specific your degree of field of knowledge is, the easier it is to get yourself employed. You'd think it would be the other way around, but from what I've seen there are billions of Communication majors, Business majors, Business Management Majors, etc. Specialization (accounting or better yet lending) is definately the way to go. If you ask me... which you didn't but I'm telling you anyway.

That's a tough break with the culinary arts program. It seems like you have a passion for it though, and that's always good.

Believe it or not, you are one of the members on this site I do really listen to, so your opinions are always welcome. I just got the basics of lending a week ago, so there are a few more classes I need to take before I will actualy start doing it but if its anything like the stuff in the training class it should be easy.

Just make sure it's something you can do day in and day out. There's nothing worse than working towards something, getting it, then kicking yourself for choosing something you have no intrest in. For me, that's why I chose PR. Even though a lot of the specific duties are similar, there is something new to deal with every day and that excites me.
Oh, and thanks for da' luv. Respect is always nice ^_^ I read your thoughts often as well. I find them to be coherent and, usually, ball bustingly funny.

Yea, my uncle loved to cook and my dad loved to cook too. He taught me much of everything I know. My mom and some of my other family members think I should just stick with with the english thing but like my dad always said 'It doesn't matter how much money a job pays, if you don't like it you're going to hate yourself in the future when it's too late to do the job that you loved.'.

That's a very wise way of looking at things. My dad always tells me that "Your time is worth something, and so is your happiness. You need to figure out how much your time is worth to you and how important it is for you to be happy during that time. The answer to that formula is your dream job."

My friends my has that above her work station in the back of their house. She sews, every day, and loves every minute of it. She has just started getting into other stuff...like making purses out of old cigar boxes.

That has to be the BEST fortune cookie saying, ever.
As for me, I still have 6 months of high school left. After that I'm going to MCTC(Minneapolis Technical and Community College). I'm going to be taking a lot of my generals there, but I wanna get a degree in something like web design. I'd go to the U of M, because they got a good art program, and I love to draw, but eh. Im not a university go-er.
I think i'll probably get some sort of degree in web design/animation. I love computers, and I love to draw. Who knows, one day I may work for Pixar. That'd be extremely cool xD

Then we're competing. I'm goign to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, just for that. 'Cept something like Pixar or a video game company is a long away and fancy dream. More likely I'll end up a disgruntled worker in a department store drawing all day just to keep me sane. It wont be for lack of trying though.
