Update - Aqua - 06-21-2007

Rl has been crazy for me and this... incident happened at a poor time of my availability. Could someone please give me a brief rundown of what all is going down with RPing, new features, etc? Or a link to a thread where all of this is?

EDIT: THANK GOD! WE CAN EDIT BEYOND TEN MINUTES NOW!!!

Update - Krillin - 06-21-2007

With any luck, they'll be fixing that shortly.

(Waits for the debate to spark up)

Thanks for reminding me. :)

RP as normal for now. For all IC purposes, no new features have been added to the RPG. We're in the process of getting the training program set up on the new site so people can continue their training.

As for new OOC features, well, there are lots of them. Just play around with the forums and see what you can find. There might be a list somewhere of what's new, but I certainly don't have it. Almost every time I've gotten onto these forums I've found something new to play with.

Update - Yamu - 06-21-2007

I would like to thank Krillin for testing out the 'report to moderator' feature.

It is up an running smoothly.

Update - Aqua - 06-22-2007

Why is chubbs opposed to letting people edit beyond 10 minutes after the original post? Most sites don't encounter many, if any, problems with it.

Update - Krillin - 06-22-2007

Tons of shit. It's been abused both IC and OOC, from what I've been told.

'Course, that's second-hand. There's been the 10-minute limit ever since I joined.

Update - Aqua - 06-22-2007

As far as I know, there should be membership masks for instances like that. If a person abuses their editing rights... revoke them. It's easier than having to double post or asking a moderator to edit something when you could have just clicked the edit button yourself. It also keeps staff threads tidier IMO. Just a suggestion/ opinion.

Update - Krillin - 06-22-2007

It's easier to just hold all the members to a specific rule than go about editing individual permission masks. Occam's razor.

Actually, occam's razor doesn't even apply. I just felt like using a philosophical/scientific term that sorta relates.

Update - Waffuru - 06-22-2007

It's 30 minutes now.

It caused a lot of problems and so it was changed, we haven't had those problems since.

EDIT: Especially when people enter their reasons for editing as "sadfa".

Update - Aqua - 06-22-2007

30 minutes is better at least.

Update - Krillin - 06-22-2007

*insert Final Fantasy victory music, in an ironic minor key*

Update - Aqua - 06-22-2007

Also, my sig and ava look smexy with this grey background. Though, and I know it's been said, this skin is pretty bad.

Update - Krillin - 06-22-2007

This skin is putrid.

But you're right, it compliments your sig and avi.

Ergo... =)

Update - Aqua - 06-22-2007

*Huggles dark teal skin option*

THIS is NICE!

The law of parsimony is exactly why we chose to limit all of the members. ns.

Anyway, yes, editting priviledges have been abused far too many times before. And, usually, it was by the members that you would consider "upstanding." There are also problems with people editting things into a post that then go unnoticed, and lots of he-said-she-said bullshit. Quite frankly, dealing with double posts is waaaaay less of a headache.

Update - Reijin - 06-22-2007

Also we had the whole "let me flame someone" then when someone responds they edit it out and go "Wtf where did that come from? Oh, why did I edit? To fix a spelling error, is that a crime?"

Update - Aqua - 06-22-2007

I don't see how any of that is an issue when it says when the post was last edited and, if there's an issue, you should be able to revoke someone's ability to edit posts by making a membership mask that can't edit and adding them to it. But it isn't a huge deal, just a minor inconveinance. 30 minutes is a vast improvement over 10 so I'll let it die.

That's what Reijin was talking about. People would "oh, i had to edit to fix spelling" when it was pointed out that their post was editted. They'd just lie about it and it turns into more he-said-she-said bullshit.

Update - Krillin - 06-22-2007

If there was a history for every post that showed the various points at which it had been edited, this wouldn't be an issue.
