Quote:BioShock is an action-adventure, survival horror first-person shooter video game by 2K Boston/2K Australia (previously Irrational Games.) The game is an Xbox 360 and Games for Windows title. The release date is August 21, 2007 in North America and August 24, 2007 in Europe.

The game is based on exploring the dystopia of an isolated underwater city called Rapture in 1960 and surviving the mutated beings and mechanical drones within it. The architecture and society of Rapture was strongly inspired by the works of Ayn Rand, while the game itself is described by the developers as a "spiritual successor" to their previous PC title System Shock 2. BioShock has received several positive reviews and is currently listed as the highest rated 2007 video game by collective game rating sites GameRankings and MetaCritic.

It's Systems Shock's spiritual successor and oh my god Im just getting jizz all over my computer. Normally Im not all about the super popular mainstream titles but geeze, can you help but not be excited?

i wanna plays it

Bioshock! - Waffuru - 08-21-2007

oh sweet, it's not vista-only! not that i'd care but that's still cool since it's a "games for windows" title.

They are banking on nominal difference between DX10 and 9 for people who are upgrading their systems just for this game to win some Vista users.

Bioshock! - Waffuru - 08-21-2007

I played Lost Planet and it ran like shit on DX9 and amazingly smooth on DX10. So, we'll see..

Bioshock! - Tobias - 08-21-2007

It isn't from personal experience obviously but its what I hear on the tubes.

Bioshock! - Aero - 08-21-2007

Yeah. It's awesome. Planning to get it once I get my 360 back from teh shop.

This guy knows what he's talking about.

I think Rad wants to have sex with your gaming knowledge.

Bioshock! - Raditzu - 08-22-2007

I'm just glad I wasn't the first to say it. The System Shock games were very, very, very under-appreciated.

Bioshock! - Waffuru - 08-22-2007

I got it. It's sweet. If you're running an ATi card there's a small fix to clean up the water.

I was at wallmart staring at the case and the 30 dollars in my wallet.

;_;

It's pretty much fuckin' creepy though. The gene system is really cool, best upgrade I've got so far is electric wrench so you can disable machines with your melee attack. woot.

Bioshock! - Bra - 08-23-2007

It's fun, but the AI sucks.

If you can get past that, the visuals are monumental - like, totally absurdly good, you'll miss half the awesomeness of the game if you just play the game and don't take the time to look around - and, as usual, 2K brings a totally unique element to the FPS genre.

It's very neat. I wouldn't say creepy though. I mean, the Little Sisters are messed up, but the evil little girl cliche is pretty much standard fare, now.
