I was given an offer by my manager, we've been chatting a lot and becoming friends, I suppose you could say. Anyway, she got approved to move to a condo, and will likely be out around the end of July. She and her bf live in an apartment now. She has to give away one of her cats because she can only have one at her condo...So...
Here's the deal, she suggested I move into her old appartment, which allowed pets:
Current Apartment:
Rent 700 (going up to 760 in september).
Comes with water/heat.
Has furnishings, though very old and poor.
2 Bedroom, top floor with balcony.
No Pets
The sucky things about my place is that I live RIGHT across the hall from my landlord. We aren't supposed to even have pets, and I own pets lol. I really want a cat. The space kind of small. There's always pigeon's hanging around cuz an ass in the bulding next to us feeds them.
The nice thing is that our washer and dryer only cost 75 cents each. The one's at the offered place are 1 doller each.
Offered Apartment:
Rent is 825, just went up.
Comes with Water/heat, and she says she never went above 50 for power.
No furnishing, but she said she might leave behind a leather recliner.
2 Bedroom, good space, middle floor with balcony. Comes with a dish washer.
All pets allowed except for dogs. I would be getting her siamise cat if I moved there.
This place is only 5 mins from work, and the mall. My place is 15 mins, next to a highschool too (so we hear the bell every morning).
So I'm trying to decide if it would be a good offer. It seems pretty good. I gotta talk to my bf about it tonight, see what he thinks. The fact that the other place has a dishwasher has me fucking stoked. We go through 10 dishes a day and I'm so lazy.

Yeah it looks like a really good deal. I would take it. The math adds up, because even though the price goes up, so do the benefits. GO FOR IT!

I have to agree. Considering all the advantages of the new location, a higher rent really seems like a small price to pay.
And I completely understand you about the dishwasher. There is seven of us in the house where I live and I do the dishes. I think I would consider harakiri if I had to wash most of it manually.

With gas as it is, you'll likely see a return on the difference between the two apartments solely from how much you'd save on driving (depending, of course, on how much you'd work).
I'd say go for it.

I dont drive, I walk 15 min to work. New apartment is 5 min to work. I'd be saving 10 min in walking.

So the apartment is officially ours. The guy just needs to move out, and when I went in there it looked pretty barren, so not much longer.
There was a big stress situation last week. See, our landlords were on vacation. We told the woman we'd give her the deposite so we can get processed on friday. Well, we realized that I signed a lease...and weren't sure how long it was for. Well they came back on saturday, and I found it it was 6 months, so it was up 2 months ago. So we got everything sent in, BUT, the lady gave away my managers apartment to a guy living upstairs. His roof was leaking and so she let him take #14. So I got to look at #5, which is identicle, just no balcony, and 25 dollars less. So we took it, it also has new carpet.
I bought my kitten today, and I'm so excited. I got a picture of him from the sheets I got. He's still at work until I can move in. I also get my managers cat, Mist, so they'll have each other when my bf and I are at work.
We may be short on some cash in the end. We couldn't get a notice in last month...I only started thinking about all of this at the begining of this month. So we have to pay 800 for the new place, and 700 for here, so 1500 by the first...plus bills and such. Hopefully we can pull through.
