Folktales - Violet - 07-17-2008
Anyone have any favorite folktales they'd like to share? I have a few, but this one that I'm researching for our current roleplay is really taking precedence over the favorites I had.
It's called The Princess and the Cowherd, but has several variations, the premise is still the same. link.
Other favorites I have are mostly Greek mythologies like Hades and Persephone.

Coincidentally, one of my favorites is Orpheus and Eurydice, which is a Greek mythology.

I've always enjoyed Greek mythology. A couple of months ago I read up on Norse mythology, that was really interesting too, the whole, Ragnarok thing, how the God's fates were sealed from the beginning, and how the God's weren't even actually immortal, but had to eat some magic apples to stop them from aging, and stuff. I forget the details.
One of my favourite tales is The story of Perseus.

Greek and Roman always kick ass.
I actually spent some time with a Native American tribe one Summer and learned some stories usually told around a camp fire and those kick eight kinds of ass. They are nice and short and have more complex morales then 'pride comes before the fall'.
The only one I can remember though is 'The Possum and the Snake' though.
