Old FAQ and Rules by Tapion - Abel - 03-24-2005 Chubbs DBZ RPG FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)/Walkthrough This document has been written by a member of Chubbs, Tapion, and all credit goes to him (me). Also, this FAQ was created so that people who join Chubbs aren't as much newbs and they actually read instead of being little bitches... Ok, let's get started! ^_^ Disclaimer: This document was created by Tapion, as stated above, and is the public property to all who need to use it, and by the power invested in me...it's public property of Chubbs too =/ Updates: The latest update to the FAQ was April 18, 2005 - Added new information corrisponding with prefixes in boards such as roleplaying boards. - New information consisting of prefixes in OOC boards. - Added information of where not to post under OOC Posting. - New questions. March 24, 2005 - Editing section in - Switching Characters Section in - Things To Note Added - Minor Things - Two added questions to FAQ - Added Bardocks thread about roleplaying (The link) Quick Find: If you want to get to a certain part use ctrl+f to find what you want quickly... 1.0 Rules 1.1 Training and Stats 1.2 Spars/Fights 1.3 Shopping 1.3b Currency 1.4 Planets 1.5 Travelling 1.6 Sagas 1.7 Quests 1.8 Other Things 1.8b Terms 1.9 Techniques 2.0 Alliance 2.9b Squire 2.9c Alliance Money 3.0 Roleplaying 3.1 Posting 3.2 Editing 4.0 Characters 4.1 Switching Characters 5.0 Joining 6.0 Warnings and Bannings 7.0 Misc. 8.0 Things To Note 9.0 FAQ Walkthrough: 1.0 Rules When people usually join, they usually don't read the rules, go figure. It's because people who are joining, "newbies", are too lazy and think they know what they are doing. If you read the rules you would know exactly what to do. From the Help/Rules page: TRAINING: To train you login into your account here. Just put in how many points you want to add to what stats. You get to add 13 points a week, if you have weighted clothing you get an extra 1 so you will have 14 points to train with. If you are using a Headquarters (which lets you do more vigorous training), you get an extra 2 to your training-now you get 15 points to train with. If you have weighted clothing, and a HQ-you get 16 points to train with. When you go to train-add the points to what ever stat you wish to increase (ex. Strength or Defense). Notice: Only the physical stats will increase your Ki, not Luck, Intelligence or Determination. You should do your training each week. The staff aims to add your training points on Sundays but it is not exact, if you do not have your points on Sunday, just wait for a while, someone is getting it to as soon as they can. You can miss up to three weeks of training, as the program automatically remembers you. I suggest letting someone else do it for you if you think you won't be able to do your training for a extended period of time. You won't get any back if you forget to do your training in those three weeks. SPARS/FIGHTS: A spar is basically a fight where you can't die or seriously get hurt. You get 50-100 Zeni (DBZ money) per spar, and with a spar you get 1-2 to a stat of the Staff's choice. You must be on the same planet as your opponent to spar them. You can have NO MORE THEN 4 spars per week. When you want to spar, find someone to spar with. When you find a sparring opponent and write the spar up YOURSELF whenever you like (or have your sparring partner do it). You do not give yourself any rewards when you write the spar up. Every time you write a spar, post it on the Spar/Fight Board with Planet: member_name vs. member_name as the subject. Change 'Planet' for the planet you two spar on. A member of the staff will review your spar and award you stat and money bonuses. When your spar(s) have been approved by the staff, they immediately add it to your character. Note that you can not have more then 1 spars at the same time and you cannot spar in a saga unless you first roleplay getting off the scene in the saga, then have your spar, and then roleplay getting back. Your character can only be at one place at the same time after all. Note that you can spar with more then one opponents at the same time, as long as its in the same thread. To have a fight it is pretty much the same thing as a spar, except you don't get any money out of it or training. The only for a fight is to settle a dispute or fight for a Dragonball. Follow the same procedure on the forum as you would with a spar-just put 'Fight:' before the thread name. This is a good opportunity to settle things in a saga/storyline and you want to have your opponent out for a few days.Procedure of Fighting: 1. Find your victim/opponent In Character. So you can't just find him with Ki Sense unless he's close/etc. See the Techniques page if you doubt. This is done on the Roleplaying Boards. 2. Roleplay you attacking/challenging your opponent on the Spar/Fights Forum. Send your opponent a PM that you have challenged him. He then has 3 days to respond. 2.a. If your opponent does not respond, you win by default. Note that the Staff can interrupt in special cases when they know if the opponent is absent for a special reason. 3. The opponent can Run Away if he has the capabilities. That means a (1)higher Speed, (2)special Technique(eg. IT), (3)special Items(eg. Cloaking Device), (4)strong Friends nearby. 3.a. If deciding to face him, it counts as a normal Spar. Each person can reply ones, then the Staff decides the winner. 4. The Winner can take 3 things. An Dragonball, Zeni(200-1,000Max, depending on the Fight) or you could greatly harm your opponent.(5-10 days of recovery, depending of the Fight) Note: You can not interfere with a Fight unless you were already near the victim IC or have something like IT and you notice their fight from afar. Fighting is usually finished in a few minutes, so there's no time to fly towards it. 5. If your target of a Fight escapes or wins the Fight, you have to wait at least 3 days(72h) before targetting again. MONEY: Our money hear is called zeni. You can buy stuff in the shop with a certain amount of zeni. You get 150 zeni a week standard and 50 per spar(or more, if it's a very large one). To find out what you can buy with it, go to the 'members' part on the left where it says SHOP. If you want to know how much money you have-look at your character on the roster. Note: If you and a different player are on the same planet, you can give Zeni to that other person. You need to Roleplay it just like you do when buying things, on the Shop forum. Note that you can not transfer money from your Alliance Zeni Pool to your personal Zeni Account. PLANETS: See the Backgrounds link on the left. MENTAL STATS: Intelligence, Luck and Determination don't have any influences to your powerlevel, but can have influences to a battle. Also, people who have their stats on about the same level have fewer chance to die. You can outsmart people, 'see trough their actions' or just have a lot of luck. With a high determination, you just keep pushing everything you got. - For every 100 points of luck you get an extra +50 Zeni. (Added automatically.) - For every 50 points of Intelligence you get an extra Best Move. When you reach the next 50, make a post on the Updates board saying what you want to be your new extra best skill/Move. It cannot be a Technique, and if the new Special Move is thought up, it will be judged by the Staff for balance reasons. Note that you have to make a thread on the roleplaying boards inventing your new special move. - For every 100 points of Determination, you get an extra training point. (Added automatically.) SAGAS: The staff will start sagas that often will span the entire CDBZ universe. In these staff-run sagas is where the most action takes place, we encourage you to jump into these whenever they pop up. These sagas are a good place to show off your skills as a writer and where the most powerful techniques are awarded. You can run your own saga, for character development, and for fun. Roleplaying with friends in group storylines is always encouraged, and sometimes storylines of the highest caliber are rewarded by staff. Although, asking for a reward will not help you to recieve one. QUESTS: You can choose the Quest link on the left and pick one of the storylines there. You will first have to travel to the designated planet and then post a thread starting with 'Q: ' and then the same name as the Quest on the right board.('Q: Save the Princess!') After you've met the requirements set in the descriptions, ask for guidence from the Staff on the Updates board. In the end, you can receive the Rewards set by the Quest. If you want to be in a quest someone else already has a thread started, use the same thread. Sometimes, it can happen that a Staff member replies to your Quest to make it a bit more complicated for you. Some other things: - Inactive characters or people who want to quit are NOT allowed to transfer their zeni and or equipment to other characters. This is for the fairness of the other players. You can however sell your items to another character for at least half the original price. - When you want something given out by a Special Character or something else, roleplay going to his place and ask him for it. After that ask the Staff on the Updates board. - The staff is not REQUIRED to give you a reward for roleplaying. (However, they will do this once in a while.. ) This is a RolePlayingGame, a game to have fun with, and you should enjoy the writing whether you receive a powerup or not. - Roleplay freely, and do anything reasonable in a saga you want (aside from PC deaths, and powerups/other gains). If you would like permission to give a death or reward, then post a request for it in the storyline request forum. This MAY be rejected, and not used. This is not a demand, but a request, and if you are told no, and why, then just comply without being unreasonable. TECHNIQUES: Techniques are special abilities, moves and skills you can obtain during your stay on the rpg. You will get them by first meeting some requirements and after that Staff approval. All time requirements, for example you need to stay on a planet for a certain amount of weeks, this need to be continuely. So if you have to stay on a planet for 2 weeks, you can't be there one week, then go somewhere else, then come back and then wait another one week. Also, all week requirements are for each Technique. So if you want to learn two Techniques that both cost 2 weeks, you have to wait 4 weeks in total before you can learn them both. Powerup Techniques: These are all the Techniques that give you a Ki multiplier. All powerup techniques are only given out in special occasions like staff run saga's, but not limited to. Just meeting the requirements only show that you can get it. They are usually given out as the ultimate RolePlaying reward. Note that all Powerup Techniques without a scene of rage are more easily given out then the ones with rage. A Ki multiplier basically multipliers all your physical stats. The rest: There are Techniques that say they are learned automatically. When you meat the requirements, ask for an update on the Updates Board. For Techniques that are learned from a certain person, first roleplay going to him, then ask for a Staff reply on the Updates Board. He will give you an assignment/quest to fullfil, and when you pass the test clearly, that NPC might learn you his Technique. Old FAQ and Rules by Tapion - Abel - 03-24-2005 Max Ki: On the Roster and Ki list is shown a stat what includes the Maximum Ki you can reach. Things included are: SSJ/SSJ2/SNS/UNS/Transformation_x/Android Upgrade/Kaioken/SKK/Spiritken/Oozaru/Battle Charger/Upgrade #1/Enhanced Bio Armor/Elite Saiyin-jin Armor/Warrior Namek-sei-jin Armor. Only the Battle Charger and it's upgrade is compatible with transformations. ALLIANCES: In your Training section, you see a sub-section called 'Alliance Information'. There are many benifits from joining an Alliance, because you are stronger together then as one. Also, you can buy things together. I give a description for all the options. -Create Alliance - You can create your own alliance if you want. Make sure you use an original name. You will be Alliance Leader automatic with full administrator rights. -Join an Alliance - If someone from another alliance has recruited you, you can decide to Accept or Reject. A choicebox will show just below the Alliance Information words. You can only Accept joining an Alliance if you are not already in one. -Leave Alliance - You can choose to leave your Alliance. You have to vink the white box and then push the button to proceed. If you are the Administrator, the character that's next in line as a 'Supported Alliance Member' will become the new Leader. If you are the last person in the Alliance, the Alliance will be removed. That includes the Zeni Account, HQ and Alliance Stash. They don't transfer to your character, since they are Alliance only. You can ask the Staff to transfer them to another alliance though. -Rank - If you have been given an Alliance Rank, it shows here. -Give Alliance Zeni - You can transfer money from yourself to the Alliance Zeni Account with this. NOTE: Do not add money to the alliance zeni pool. The program is currently not working properly. Money added to the zeni pool can not be spent or returned. -Squire -You can train someone in your alliance that is weaker then you. You can give him a portion of your own Training Points in return that he has to obey your orders since you are his Master/Sensei. Note that you have to have this on during the Training Points giving out on Sunday. So you can change it during the week. -Supporting Leader -Aah.. The lovely back-stabbing option. The Alliance Leader/Administrator needs the majority of the Alliance members to support him or else the command is given to someone else. Note that the Leader can not see who of his members support him or not, not even how many. It's a matter of Trust. Administration Features: -Alliance Zeni -Here you can see how much you have in your Zeni Account. -Alliance HQ -Here you can see what kind of HQ you have. This determines the Training Points allowence of your members. Also, you only get Training Points from an HQ if you are on the same planet. As the Leader, you can pick the HQ up in a Capsule and transfer it to different planets. -Alliance Stash -Here shows up what kind of items you have that are bought with the whole Alliance. For example Ships and Teleportation tubes can show up here. -Alliance Relations -Here you can choose what kind of relation you have with other Alliances. Ranging from Good to Neutral to Bad. -Alliance Member-Rights -You can have your own Alliance 'moderators' and give them a right to do things. For example, you can give someone the alliance Rank of Captain and allow him to Recruit and Kick members to and from the Alliance. There are three rights to give. Giving alliance member a Rank, Recruiting new members and Kicking alliance members. Moderation Feautures: -Alliance Ranks -You can give an Alliance member a custom Rank in the alliance. -Alliance Recuiting -You can recruit any member from the RPG that is not already in your alliance. It's up to them to Accept or Reject your offer. Note that you can also take back your Recruiting by going to that person again and change the 'Yes' into the 'No' again. -Alliance Kicks -You can throw someone out of the Alliance. RULES: There aren't many rules, cause they hold you back-I do have a few though: If any of these rules are broken, you will receive a warning in the warning forum, and a Private Message (PM) stating what you did. After three Major warnings, you will be banned permanently. Warning Offense Minor: You will get two warnings before getting a ban warning if you break one of these rules as they are not that severe. * Do not post in the wrong forum: Many people try to post things in the roleplaying forum that are obviously not roleplays just because they claim it is important, and most of the time it is extremely frivolous and pointless. Do not do this. * Do not SPAM on the forums. The only exception is the Asylum. Everywhere else you will get a Warning for spamming. Do not do this. * You must roleplay: Many people join up, and then don't show up for very long, or they will be extremely active, and then vanish. If we notice that you haven't posted in a while, or only post on the Out of Character (OOC) boards, then we will issue a warning. * No IC acting while on the OOC boards, or using OOC knowledge: This means that we don't want evil characters making an ass of themselves OOC or over ICQ or in the chatroom, and then when asked why, claiming its because they are an evil character. While in the IC boards, you can be mean, though be reasonable. I don't think that Cell or Freeza would run around trying to steal other characters wives... which leads me to the next rule. * Respect other members: Don't start something OOC just because their character can't fight you over it, or refuse to fight someone while disrespecting a characters wife or something. In this case, an exception will be made, and you will be forced to fight if the character who is under the offense wishes it. This will be taken on a case by case basis, to decide whether or not you were truly offended or just taking advantage of something. * Signatures: must comply to a size of 300 height by 600 width with a max size of 50kb to keep all pages fast loading. Warning Offense Major: If you break one of these rules, it will result in an warning. * Over use of profanity: Do not go overboard with pointless language. We do not encourage members to walk around testing out any new words that you've learned to make your parents mad. Sometimes, it may be appropriate in order to show character or such, but repeated use of F*** about five times a sentence is a bit too much. * Do not lie to a staff member: This will be taken harshly. If you lie to either an administrator or a moderator, you are committing an extreme sin. Not only has this caused problems in the past, but it also slows down the rpg. Instant Banning * No hentai, porno, lemons, etc; Do I really need to explain this? Some adult content may be used, if in a mature manner and for a good reason, but don't go overboard. If you have a question as to whether or not its suitable, send it to a staff member through private messages. * Playing as two Characters: Unless you can back your ass up with proof that you are not infact two people sharing a computer, you will be banned immediately. Note: If you are sharing a computer with someone, or using a public computer that others may use, immediately let the staff know BEFORE any problems arise, when you join. * Flaming: By this I do not mean arguing with another member and calling him stupid because of this (list a details and facts, the like). But of using an obscene amount of name calling like mother fucker, bitch, ass raper, gay. This also accounts for racial slurs and the like, making personal threats on the family, and making fun of disabilities. If you have a problem deal with the person you have a problem with. * Final Rule: The administration owns you. This means that what they say, goes. There is a reason behind their actions, normally. We will not abuse this power, but we will use it from time to time. Now, as you can see, this is long and some of it wont tell you everything you need to know. Let's break it down. 1.1 Training and Stats Training is the most important thing in the RPG. If you don't train, you wont gain any ki to make your character strong, So go out there and train. The training page is when you go the Chubbs main page and on the left, scroll down and on the last link on the left, it will say training. Click it and a new page will come up. This is the training page. Now, click the drop down arrow and a box will drop down, scroll down and find the character you have joined as. Once you do, put in the password you made for him/her. When you first start the RPG you get 14 TP. TP are training points. You divide these among the stats you want to upgrade. You gain Training Points every sunday when a staff member, Android 18, gets on and presses the button to do what the program needs to be done to give you your TP. There many things that will give you more TP too. Also, stats give you TP. Let me break it down for you. Physical Stats (Start at 240) Strength Defence Speed Recovery Stamina Attack Power Mental Stats (Start at 150) Intelligence Luck Determination Most of those are obvious, but Intelligence is how smart your character is so he/she can do unique tactics, also, for every 50 Intelligence, you get a new move. That's why you start with 3 moves at the beginning, because 150/50=3 moves. Luck is how lucky you are in fights. I never found a use for this but the good thing is, for every 100, you can get 50 extra zeni a week. Determination is how determined you are to win. This is important to me, as well. Only because for every 100 determination, you get 1 extra TP a week. Also, an important thing about Physical stats are that they rely on each other. You can't just tank on strength because it wouldn't work. If you want a lot of strength you need attack power. The stats go like so: Strength><Attack Power Defence><Recovery Speed><Stamina So if you are strong in speed but weak in stamina, you can't be very fast for a long time. So keeping these all as equal as possible is a good idea. Other ways to raise your TP are to buy weighted clothing because it gives 1 extra TP a week and then get an alliance and then an alliance HQ. Note: The password at default is qwerty. In the training program you can change it to whatever you like, though. 1.2 Spars/Fights Spars and fights are another important part to this RPG. First, to start a spar or a fight you need to go to the spar and fight board. Then from there, go to the spar request board. Then, ask for a request with the title stating what planet you are on and if it's a fight or a spar. So if I was on Earth and wanted a spar, in the spar request board, I would put: Earth Spar Then people can accept it if they want. Spars go until give up or knock out or whoever wants to finish. The winner is determined by the two fighters. There is no set limit for a number of posts but each person has to be equal in posts, it's not fair for one person to have 5 posts and the other have 3. So make it even! A fight is to the death. You can get items from a person when fighting too, such as dragonballs, money, and other items that you want to fight for. There is, again, no limit to how many posts but like I said before, make sure it is even. You do the same thing to request a fight as a spar but instead of Earth Spar, you would put Earth fight. Also, in a fight, staff decides who wins. When posting on the spar and fight board, and it was a spar on Earth, the subject should be: Earth Spar: (Person)vs(person) Obviously "person" would be the two fighting characters. After the spar or fight is completed, a staff member will give the rewards they think the fighters earned. 1.3 Shopping Shopping is a very important in the CDBZ universe. If you don't shop, you wont get a lot of the items you may need later. You would also need to buy ships here to go to other planets. See backgrounds for more information on planets and travelling. There are a lot of things people don't know when it comes to shopping. All of the places you go are the Capsule Corp. Shops. All of the items are in capsules and are labeled. Different planets will have different things you can get. Like on Vegete-sei, there are illegal arms you can get. And on Arlia-sei, there are special armors and cloaks you can buy. One thing that seems to come up every now and then is if you can shop in Heaven/Hell/King Kai's. No. There are no CC shops on King Kai's so it is useless to ask. You are dead...so there =P There are many things that confuse some people. There are upgrades for your armors, as some people notice. This is like Bug Skin Plate and Saibashard. They are difficult to get because they are scattered across the CDBZ Universe on a few planets. There aren't many but as soon as you purchase the ugrades they will boost your stats with the armor instantly. 1.3b Currency (Money) Money here is like in the DBZ Anime, it's zeni. If you want items, you will need zeni to buy items for your character. As stated in 1.1, you get zeni every week and luck will increase how much you get a week. Also, if you want to, you can loan people money if they need extra cash to buy items. But you have to know them IC and it's best if you are friends or in an alliance, otherwise, it will make completely no sense in the long run. To earn money, you can do quests and sagas. Quests usually have zeni rewards, even if you do a personal storyline, you can get zeni for it. Old FAQ and Rules by Tapion - Abel - 03-24-2005 1.4 Planets There are many planets in Chubbs DBZ RPG. You can look at the information for them on the Backgrounds link on the left of the main page. The three planets you can start on, are Earth, Namek, and Vegeta. The rest you will have to fly to on a space ship, or if you want, you can use a tele tube which instantly tekeports you to a planet. 1.5 Travelling Travelling can play a big role on your character. If you travel from one planet to another, you can get special things. For example, if you went to Namek-sei you would be able to get Spiritkin there and if you went to Earth and stayed for two consecutive weeks, you would get Ki Sense. To travel you need either a teletube, or a personal/alliance ship. You can buy upgrades for these ships to go faster to the planets and where you can train while in them. 1.6 Sagas Sagas are storylines. They are usually much larger than a normal quest or personal story. Most sagas here at Chubbs are staff-run. They usually happen every six months or so for the major ones. Member sagas aren't usually as big but happen between the six months of the sagas, there are some exceptions to the six months though. Large rewards are given for the staff-run sagas. They decide rewards depending on how much effort you put into the saga and how long you stayed in. 1.7 Quests Quests can be found on the quests page, the link is on the left side of the main page. There are quests for every planet, the rewards are usually pre set so you can do whichever you want. Also, the description for the quest and what you need is located on their. If it says you need to protect somebody, then when you are roleplaying, you would find that person and fend off any people trying to hurt him/her. It's really quite simple. When it says Minimum (stat/ki) you will need that set amount of ki or whatever stat it is if you want to be able to do it. You can get in groups with other people to do quests too. You can also do personal storylines. These are very helpful and sometimes rewards are given, they are mostly made if there is nothing else to do or you want more character development. 1.8 Other Things Inactive Characters are characters who have not RPed in at least 2 weeks. This means, if you want to be in the RPG, you have to RP! Even if you are active OOC, you have to RP IC if you want to stay, Staff are an except =P When you want to get something for an Important Character such as Spiritkin from Guru, you have to RP a lot and then after you are done RPing, ask staff if you get it, they will tell you yes or no, if not, then try, try again. Rewards wont be given out all the time, this is mostly for personel things. For premade quests or sagas, they will though. 1.8b Other Things-Terms There are many terms use in this RPG. Such are IC and OOC. IC means in character. In character is mostly for RPing, if you are in an IC board that means you need to roleplay what you character does (except spar request). OOC means out of character. Out of character are places like the Legendary Asylum and the Questions/Updates/Suggestion boards. This is where you don't need to act out your character but instead, talk to other people however you want. PM means private message. This is the messaging system built into CDBZ where you can talk to others privately. 1.9 Techniques Techniques are different abilities you can learn in the RPG. They aren't the same as normal moves. They are things such as ki sense and Oozura. They are learned over time or rewarded by staff. There are also Power Up Techniques. Poower Up Techniques are used by a person when they want their character's max ki to go up. They range from x5 max ki to x40 max ki. These are like Spiritkin and Super Saiya-jin and Super Namek-jin and others. They are rewarded by staff usually for good RPing. They will not just be given to you like that, these take a long time to earn, also, all powerups are equal in their own ways. The powering up has limits to certain races and more than one power up technique may not be used at once. Many techniques may only be learned from certain NPCs, to get to those NPCs means good RPing and a lot of effort as well. Also, if the technique page doesn't say how to recieve a certain technique, then it is given out in staff-run sagas. 2.0 Alliances An alliance means a lot of things. Friends, safety and protection, and TP. But you can't just start an alliance or enter an alliance out of nowhere. If you're going to start one with other people, it's best to meet them in character before anything big happens, that way, it will make more sense and be more realistic. When in an alliance, you can do everything together and mess around. You can also squire other people. 2.0b Squire A squire is part of an alliance tool. This tool is for stronger characters to give weaker ones in their alliance their TP. So if a person is weaker than me, I can give them my TP a week (You can pick how much) as long as they are in my alliance. 2.0c Alliance Money Alliance money really means nothing in this RPG. It's just a gimmic to make everything seem realistic and what not, nothing special. You can use it to buy an alliance HQ though, but you don't need it since you can already give other people money to help pay for things... 3.0 Roleplaying Roleplaying is the MOST important thing in this RPG currently. Roleplaying is just like writing a story about you character. Examples are written all over on the forums at Chubbs. We only do third person which is he, she, they, etc. We also do past tense such as, said, went, etc. When RPing you are your character and you put what your character feels and you develop your character into the way you want that person to be. It doesn't matter how they are in the anime, you can make Goku evil and Dr. Gero nice. It's YOUR choice. If you would like to further enhance your skills at roleplaying, read this thread created by Bardock: http://cdbzrpg.dracondev.com/forum/thread.php?threadid=9775&sid= A new feature are the prefix options. They are in the drop down box next to the topic name. Put what corrisponds with what you are doing. If you are doing a Personal Storyline, pick that one, if you are doing a Quest, do that one. But do NOT do staff run saga or anything of that sort. That is for, obviously, staff run sagas. 3.1 OOC Posting Posting in OOC (Out of Character) is also important. If you post something with a title "(Quest Title) Guidance" we don't know what you want. Remember, if you are asking a question, use the [Question] button in the drop down, [Update] for an update, and [Suggestion] for a suggestion.. We can't read minds so you need to tell us what you need. We don't like when people talk about illegal things either. So don't talk about how much you do drugs, pirate games/movies, or anything illegal. Don't bring in anything racial because we accept all races and don't talk about religion or politics. These threads are locked because debates go too far on these topics. Also, don't be a post whore OOC and not RP. You will be kicked out. Also, to avoid confusion, being bitched at, and other things, it is advised to use correct spelling and grammar. Sentance Structure is one of the most important things in this RPG, only because it's the only thing we really can bitch and moan about. If you use bad grammar, you will be looked down upon, so try your best with that. And if you are from a different country and your English is rusty, just explain it and you should be good to go and nobody else has a reason to bitch at you. and don't say it's because you are young because I am only thirteen and I try to keep the best grammar and spelling I can. One major thing that staff try to let you all know is to not post in the wrong place. For example, you don't post in the Warnings board. If the staff edit the prefences to keep you from posting in specific boards, there's a reason. Such as, you may not post in the Joining boards unless you are staff because of the way the forums are set up. You would have to log out and post but if you do this, you will get warned because you have no place there. 3.2 Editing There has been some controversy over editing before. The edit button is very helpful when needed so that people don't double post. Staff and members look down upon double posting unless it's been longer than about 24 hours. The time that you were allowed to edit was five minutes, now it's ten. Anybody that has trouble with it anyway, should still be grateful it's at ten minutes. Editing will never have an infinite amount of time. That's because back when it was, it was abused and people would change their roleplays in spars and other things to catch an edge. In OOC, people edited to get out of being warned, which is being dishonest and lying to the staff. I suggest nobody complains about the edit button ever again... 4.0 Characters The characters in the RPG are on the roster page. When you first go there it shows the active roster, the people who are taken. On the link there are the top, click Inactive characters. This shows what characters aren't taken. But remember, staff are lazy here sometimes and sometimes the roster isn't updated. So they will have characters already taken on the inactive roster sometimes. NPCs are Non Playable Characters, so don't ask if you can be Vegeta or anything like that. They are there for reference, really. There are a lot of characters in the RPG so when it comes to picking a character, it shouldn't be hard. You can not be any NPC (Non playable Characters, they are listed there), Hildergarn, or any of the dragons. If you don't find a character you want then don't worry. We have found a website that has, what we think, is all of the characters in DB/Z/GT http://www.myfavoritegames.com/dragonbal...character-a.htm Also, remember, in this RPG ALL races are equal. Saiya-jin are NOT in ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM the strongest race. 4.1 Changing Characters Some people who join the Chubbs DBZ RPG tend to get bored of their characters. This does happen every now and then, but it is possible. Let's say you don't like being Krillen or just can't RP being him, then in the Questions/Updates/Suggestion board, tell them you are changing characters. There is one downside to switching characters, though. You will lose 25 points from ALL stats, including your mentals. That will lower your ki a LOT and you will lose one move if you change when you first start as well. That's because you start with 150 intellegence and you lose 25, making 125. More information on stats is in the Stats section. But just remember, if you want to switch characters, you better know the consequences and staff will remind you of them, but you are allowed to change to any open character. 5.0 Joining Joining this RPG requires you to know the rules and read this, the FAQ/Walkthrough, which already has the Rules on it =/. The information you gather from these two sources will tell you what you have to do to join the RPG, also look at the sticky on the joining board on the forums. Joining requires this information (Taken from the join page of Chubbs, on the left it is linked on the main page): Before you join, I suggest looking under HELP, since all the rules are there. To join you must go to the forums by clicking on the ROLEPLAY link. Go to the Joining Board and make a post there as a Guest. (So don't register on the forums yet!) # First, you must tell me the character you wish to be. The character must not be chosen, if he isn't on the roster. If it says he is open on the roster-you can be him. He also can't be one of the special characters (look in other to find out the special characters). Any character from Dragonball, Dragonball Z or Dragonball GT. That means no self-thought characters. And NO fused characters. # After that, give me the personality of the character {ex. Ruthless (never gives up and may be cheap just to win), Courageous (will keep battling, no matter what the odds are), Kind-Hearted (shows deep mercy for the opponent and won't kill someone-unless something causes them to do so), Clever (Could be good or bad, will wait for the perfect time to attack and study the opponent, also finds ways to cheaply defeat the opponent.), etc... You just choose the personality and explain it if it isn't listed here. # After all of that, tell me what planet you wish to start on. You may start on Earth, Vegeta, or Namek. There are more planets, but you may only start on these for now. # Tell me your e-mail address, AIM (if you have it) and/or your ICQ number (if you have it). # Also, send in a roleplay example. # After all of that, wait for a reply to start Roleplaying. YOU CAN'T START PLAYING UNTIL YOU GET A REPLY STATING WHO YOU ARE!!! Just remember, first come first serve so join soon!!! What all of this means is, don't register on the boards yet, but you should post on the joining board and it should look like this: Topic of Thread: Joining as (You character) Body paragraph: CharacterL (Whoever you want, no made up characters) Personality: (If you want him kind hearted, etc) Planet: (Out of Earth, Vegeta, and Namek) Email: (Your email here) AIM/ICQ/MSN: (Your screen name, etc here) Roleplay: (Your RP example) That's it. But for a roleplay example make it how you would RP when you are registered and accepted into the RPG. This means, make it past tense, third person, use spell check, split paragraphs using a "buisness letter" style of writing. "Business Letter" style of writing is when you have a paragraph then press enter two times making a gap between paragraphs, this is only because the boards don't have indents. Also, make your RP a little length, 300 words+ is always good and people usually get in with that. Then, after all of that, remember to pick three moves you want for your character. These aren't the techniques from the techniques page, but actual moves from the anime show. You can also create your own moves as long as you limit them and not have them super strong where you could god mode with them. Now, don't register yet! Wait for a staff member to look at it and when s/he says "Accepted, register and someone will activate you." do as told. Register an account for the forums and they will accept it. Make sure it's the same as your character name. If it's taken, reply back in the joining thread you made as a guest again and tell them the problem, they will fix it for you. Then have fun RPing! Note: You can not make up characters. Only characters from the anime/manga are allowed. 6.0 Warnings and Bannings When you are OOC or IC and don't follow a rule, you can get warned. Staff are sometimes leniant on warnings but that means nothing. If you post just OOC in an IC forum, you can get warned, if you post mindless spam in the Q/S/U you will get warned, This is very important because it's like baseball, three strikes and your out. Please be cautious and think before you do any actions and if you have a problem with somebody or they have done anything bad or sent you something bad in PM or email, tell a staff member. Warnings are obviously given for obvious reasons. Don't be an idiot =/ 7.0 Miscellanious There are a lot of things people keep asking or talking about and since they aren't previously located in the FAQ, I will make a whole new part to the FAQ for them. There are a lot of things people need help on, so let me try my best. At the bottom of the shop page, it says for reference and lists items. These are items that have been taken out of the RPG. They are there because NPCs or some characters may have them because they never traded them in. So, don't ask. 8.0 Things to Note 1. Don't bug staff 2. Don't ask for updates for anything until 24+ hours after the RPing is finished if nothing has happened. 3. Don't discuss politics or religion, staff will lock these threads because they tend to grow into much larger arguements than they should be. 4. Don't discuss other RPG's, just like above, it will make people insult other RPGs and we don't want that kind of rep. here. Old FAQ and Rules by Tapion - Abel - 03-24-2005 8.0 FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) Q: I don't know how to join, what do I do!? A: Then read the site, everything is on this site, if you don't think you need to or don't want to, then this site is not for you. Q: I put my join thread up and nobody has responded, do they see me? A: Yes. Sometimes staff are tooo busy but they should see it, if it has been 24 hours or more, then reply again and that will get somebody's attention, don't make numerous threads about it. Q: What do I do if I have a question about joining or anything else? A: Then we want to hear it, you can post on the Questions/Updates/Suggestions board as a guest and tell them what you need. Q: What's an RP example? A: Go away, this site isn't for you because you havn't read anything on the site. Q: Can I be (Whoever) shenron? A: No, no dragons allowed, no NPC's, and no Hildergarn. Q: What if staff hasn't updated my (Spar, Fight, quest, etc)? A: Wait at least 24 hours. If nobody has updated it by then, then go ahead and post on the questions board for an update. Q: Are you staff? A: No, not yet =P. Don't worry, though, I know what I'm talking about and I will be staff, one day. Q: j00 giv teh butseckz? A: Whenever you want. Q: Who is staff? A: Staff are located on the contact us page under staff on the left of the main page. They Are Burter, Reijin, Vegeta Jr. Goku, Krillin, Lord Slug, Broli, Kami, Android 18, Raditzu, Vegeta, Koola, and Trunks. Q: Why does it say I'm hacking the system when trying to get into my training? A: Make sure you entered your password correct. There have been occasions as well where Fifrefox has problems with the training program. Make sure you except all cookies and turn any firewall you have on off. If that doesn't work, check if you use Norten Antivirus. If so, turn it off and it should work. Q: What the hell is a newb? A: A newb is a shortened version for the word newbie. This means you are new and is used to flame, or insult, somebody. Q: (This person) has sent me a private message with a (threat, insult, harrassment, anything that would be wrong to post on normal boards), what do I do? A: PM (private message) a staff member. That or get ahold of a staff member over IM, there is no reason to tell it to the public and the person will get warned. Q: Is there SSj3 or SSj4? A: No. Nobody is powerful enough to even get that high in a power level, this also keeps everything fair for all people, it will be a few years before there is SSj3. Q: There are no more saiya-jin! Can I make up a character or do you know any other saiya-jin not listed? A: No. If there are no more saiya-jin on the inactive list and you truely want to be a saiya-jin then go here: http://www.myfavoritegames.com/dragonbal...character-a.htm Other than that, all races are equal so if you want to be a saiya-jin for power, then there is no need. Q: Can I have (this staffer's) AIM sn? A: No. If it has not been posted then there is a high chance that they don't want members IMing them. This is because staff have lives too and don't want to think about the RPG all the time. Q: What if what I need to know can't be found here? A: Then go to the Questions/Suggestions/Updates board and ask a question, or IM/Email me anything you need to know. Q: Everybody on the site have cool banner/sigs, can I have one? A: Yeah, ask one of the people that make signatures. A good idea would to go to the Workshop subforum in the Questions/Updates/Suggestion forum. Q: Can my character have (this ability)? He/She did in the (show/movie/manga) A: Yeah, if it's like when Buu can stretch out or when Janemba can stretch out. Or if it's a teleportation like Janemba could do, then no unless you put restrictions on it and ask staff. Q: Can I have my (brother/sister) join? A: Your friends and relatives can join anytime. You just need to give us supporting information that it is two different people, also, if you are thought to be acting as somebody else and just trying to get points, you will get banned. Q: What if I'm on a public computer (such as a library) and other people log in too? A: Just put that it's a public computer and we may cut you some slack. Q: How do you know all of this information? A: I read a lot. I read the rules and just being at the website, you learn a lot about it. It's all simple really, people just don't read anything on the site and think they know what they're doing. Q: How old are you? A: Just turned 14! ^_^ Q: Can we make the edit time be infinite: A: No! Information on this is in the Editing section. Q: How can I improve my roleplaying? A: Read this: http://cdbzrpg.dracondev.com/forum/thread.php?threadid=9775&sid= Q: What are the new prefixes infront of topic titles? A: These are new things set to the board, red in Posting and Roleplaying for information. Q: Why can't I post in joining board while logged in? A: Staff set the controls so only guests and staff members can post in the joining boards, do NOT log out just to post there. Any other questions? Have anything you might want to add to this FAQ?
