Loss of experienced cader - Tamsin - 12-14-2005 Is it just me or has the number of experienced RPers started to wane these last times? Pan, Recoome, Guldo, Videl...it just seems to me that those who had gained some experience in RPing are leaving, one after another. This is kinda worrying. Loss of experienced cader - Ashe - 12-14-2005 Videl's been on the verge of it and stubbornly refusing to give in for a few years now, haha, so I wouldn't play chicken little just yet Loss of experienced cader - Tamsin - 12-14-2005 This doesnt change the fact more and more experienced players are leaving the scene. This could have consenquences. Loss of experienced cader - Android-18 - 12-14-2005 I'm not leaving unless this place is shut down. Loss of experienced cader - Kaden - 12-14-2005 Everything could have consequences. Maybe VJ gets drunk tomorrow and deletes everything and Chubbs is gone forever. Maybe not. We can either worry every time someone quits, or we can enjoy what we still have. ^_^ I prefer the latter. Loss of experienced cader - Super Buu - 12-14-2005 Pssshhhh. From what it looks like to me the number of decent joiners is just as big if not higher than the number of decent leavers. The only difference is, they've built up a history and a reputation, and friends. So it's natural that it smarts when they leave. I've run a WoW clan for years now (before the game was out) and more times than I can count we thought the clan was dead because members starting leaving domino-style. It's happened so many times in our history and been rebuilt so many times, it's ridiculous. You can ask Zarbon, I am not exaggerating ![]() It's still alive because there were a few people that held onto it. The last time it happened people thought it was time to move away to a different guild. It was discussed, planned and thought out so that the leavers would stay together, though in a different guild. I (seeing as I've been leader for a couple years and a member for slightly longer) was invited, but decided not to come. I said even if I was the last member, I still wouldn't leave. I'd start recruiting again and build from scratch. Eventually, about 3 of the original clan stuck with their plan to leave, the rest stayed to help me 'rebuild' ![]() Sorry if that's only vaguely related to the topic at hand, but it's the best experience I've got with how communities work. Most important is to understand this - people won't stay forever. This is why recruiting is so important. The RPG will change over time, people will leave and so on. I don't think these people leaving are doing so as a 'domino-effect', they're just leaving naturally. I think Chubbs will have a long lifespan. Loss of experienced cader - Orion - 12-14-2005 When I first joined the RPG, I was one of the only active people here. It must've been in one of Chubbs' many waning times. When the new bunch of staff were introduced at the time (myself, Koola and Kami I believe) and about the time of the LMS, the site's activity grew to about what it is today. I wouldn't worry about it. Loss of experienced cader - Broli - 12-14-2005 Koola was modded before you, Goku, with me, 18, and Janemba. Jackie, the reason that experienced RPers tend to wane when it comes to activity is simply because they're exactly that - experienced. When you've been here a few years, it's easy to be burnt out for a bit, even extended times, simply because you've already put in so much effort previously. Loss of experienced cader - Burter Jr - 12-14-2005 Quote:Originally posted by Jackie Chun Videl is the only one I would say has gained experience, from the four people you named. Guldo was horrible. Pan and Recoome, though good roleplayers, weren't really here that long (I think Recoome has Pan beat, but he was only a year or a 1 1/2) Loss of experienced cader - Android-18 - 12-14-2005 The old Pan was from Assassins, so he had as much experience as myself, ad even Videl, it sucks that he left. I think Bra was in Assassins too...not sure, same with Bojack. Anyway, we'll be fine, there are still a lot of experienced people here. Loss of experienced cader - Piper Juunanagou - 12-14-2005 Quote:Originally posted by Nail A restart would never happen, or at least I hope it doesn't. I have only been here for about four months and I hate even the prospect of having to start over from scratch. The way I see it, It is fine for the veterans retire, as long as their is a fresh supply of decent roleplayers who join in their place. Loss of experienced cader - Burter Jr - 12-14-2005 I don't really see how this is anything to be worried about. Look at the ki list. That's a LOT of people still here. Count off talented roleplayers. You'll get about half of the list. Loss of experienced cader - Android-18 - 12-14-2005 Everyone who is on the Ki list is a decent RPer or above, consider yourselves complimented. Loss of experienced cader - Abel - 12-14-2005 I mean, look at me. I'm not the best and I contemplated leaving but I stuck it out because I had writers block and am just plain lazy. Plus my sould is pretty much here, literally. I love coming onto these boards for some odd reason. I finally got a roleplay up and even though it's short, I feel I've achieved something. And not just overcoming writer's block. I achieved myself from getting kicked out for inactivity. Yay for me =D But seriously, I will ride until the site dies, which will never happen, if it did die I would try to continue it. Like the Bad Boy's saying, "We ride together, we die together" Loss of experienced cader - Ashe - 12-14-2005 If the site closed, it would most like be due to the DBZ formula itself, creating too high of a power creep (DBZ had it happen obviously) and also a few other things, like staff differences, loss of interest, other minor things, and also the fact that DBZ itself puts the entire site in a bind through a series of rules that the universe places. Also the fact that a number of characters have had multiple players and that affects other people's writing. Also if some characters got so strong that by the rules and by their characters true strength, anything less than god moding would be completely nerfing yourself and make it to where your character really didn't matter. An example would be the severe nerfing I did of my character in the Kid Buu and Retane fight, along with the rest of that tournament. Loss of experienced cader - Orion - 12-15-2005 Quote:Originally posted by Broli Half true. He was, but then he was demodded (differences with VJ at the time I believe) and then was reintroduced into staff when myself and Kami were. |
