Android 18-Progress - Kazuya - 01-31-2006 Ok, this one I will be doing a lil differently. I will show you the drawing process for this so you guys can see how I do this. Also, this gives me a chance to do like a mini tut while drawing 18's Pic. ![]() This is the outline. Notice, not too many details at this first stage, and sometimes I'll just skip over the whole stick figure frame. It just depends on how I feel about the layout of the picture. This one, I am basing off this pic: This one So, since it's already been laid out for me, the stick figure isn't necessary for me at this point. Step two next. Android 18-Progress - Kazuya - 01-31-2006 Step Two ![]() Here I flesh out the hair line, the points for the eyes, ears, nose and mouth. Also, I mark off the lines of the body that will be kept, and subtracting the lines that are unnnecessary. Here, even though it may look a little lobjawed, the beginning lines are only place holders, and will be changed in the next few steps. Android 18-Progress - Kazuya - 01-31-2006 Step Three Pencil Cleanup. Stage before Inking. ![]() Removed all extra lines and cleaned up the eyes and other features. This is the step directly before inking. Android 18-Progress - Kazuya - 01-31-2006 Step Four Inked ![]() So from being just a framework to a rough sketch to a finished ink, the next step in the coloring process would be to add layers, duplicate the original layer and set it to the uppermost spot. This will always be the top layer. Set this to multiply. Only the black will show through, allowing for color to be added underneath. I will not elaborate on my coloring process as it is sorta a secretive affair that I have developed. But this is the inked, and will be the basis of the colored product. On to the longest, time consuming part: Color! Android 18-Progress - Kazuya - 01-31-2006 Step Five: Basic flat color ![]() Flat color stage. At this point, i have all the different colors on different layers. Shruggining off previous techniques that I have done, I have decided that manually adding the shading and highlights to each color on new layers would be the best, more accurate way to go. Also, it just looks more flattering if I do it that way. I cannot stress enough the importance of layers here. Each color to a layer will prevent alot of mistakes, and is easier to edit. This is also applicable to backgrounds. each new color to a layer, and play around with different layer styles and opacities. Android 18-Progress - Vegeta Jr - 01-31-2006 Whats the thing below her eye? And dont you think her lips are too fat? ^^; Android 18-Progress - Kazuya - 01-31-2006 The thing below her eye is the scar that 18 wanted me to put on there for her. Her lips are supposed to be pouty, and somewhat sad. It'll all look alot different after i get the shading processes done. You'll see what I mean here in about an hour. ^_^ Android 18-Progress - Vegeta Jr - 01-31-2006 Hmm, a scar shouldnt be dark right? I would suggest a highlight of the skin thats a tad lighter of her skin color around the lines of the scar. imho Android 18-Progress - Kazuya - 01-31-2006 Already did that. I'm almost there on the shading pic. ^_^ Android 18-Progress - Kazuya - 01-31-2006 Step Six ![]() After some alterations to the line art, (lots of alterations, actually ^_^) This is what I have come to. There are several layers here, including the dark shading. Use a soft brush with a color a few shades darker from the flat color and blur to blend. Trust me, when I was doing this, it looked totally different. Of course, this won't be complete until we have the highlights and the background completed. Android 18-Progress - Kazuya - 01-31-2006 Step Seven: Highlights and the beginning of a background ![]() As you can see, I have made a few more alterations, moving the ear up as it wasn't congruent with the other side and just threw the whole thing off. Anyhoo, if you look closely between this version and the post above's version, you can see how the highlights add more depth to the picture, and now, the main part of the hard stuff is done. If I wanted, I can add texture to the clothing (Which I will do in the final step, which is next.) In the final step, I will polish everything up and add different textures, gleams and other nice things, and finish the background. Remember where your light source is coming from and add a shadow. Android 18-Progress - Kazuya - 01-31-2006 Step Eight: The Finished Project ![]() And here we have the finisher. Through all the layers, all the steps, and modifications, here we have 18- The finished product. 'Nuff said. ![]() Thanks for viewing Vi's drawing tutorial of 18's picture. Android 18-Progress - Android-18 - 02-01-2006 ;_; You were supposed to take it slow, there's some thing I have to point out >.> Android 18-Progress - Kazuya - 02-01-2006 I can do it again, 18, this was for illustrative purposes as well. ^_^ Just let me know. Android 18-Progress - Android-18 - 02-01-2006 Hehe, ok good ^^ so long as it's ok with you. My sister thinks you're good .

I think I'm going to head back to nap here in a few, so you can either email me or wait till I get back up and tell me what all you want the pic to look like. Android 18-Progress - Android-18 - 02-02-2006 I'll probablt PM it, what with my computer being dead and this being my brothers laptop, I can't get on AIM as much. Android 18-Progress - Kazuya - 02-02-2006 wow, that really sux about your computer, but if you want me to wait for you, I can do that, so if you want to monitor the pic while I'm drawing it, that would be coo.
