Complete Engine Optimization

Cost: 2,000

By far the most cost-effective propulsion modification, this is the only one to actually keep the stock engines. Instead of replacing the existing engines, the technicians who install this upgrade replace essential parts. Seals and gaskets, along with a fuel stabilization unit. Heavier-duty parts are utilized in several areas, along with a complete propulsion control swap. In addition, the core draw is optimized for maximum thrust versus efficiency.

Rheem Aeromotive Systems Drive Swap

Cost: 3,000

In order to further increase a vessel's speed, a complete set of engines swaps must be made. These new engines are made to be the same size as the ship's original engines, but are made of materials built to a far higher standard and produce much, much more thrust than the stock engines are capable of. In addition, these engines respond faster. To facilitate the integration of these engines into the ship's main computers, a new self-diagnosing computer complete with onboard telemetry is installed, along with a fuel stabilization unit.

Propulsion: +50

Cete'el High-Thrust Drive Swap

Cost: 4,000

Deviating from normal procedure, Cete'el Industries has created a set of oversized engines for the medium ship. These engines come complete with all the necessary hardware and electronics for them to run at optimal performance. The result is outstanding speed for the heavy vessel.

Propulsion: +75

Quote: Scram Jets

Cost: 2,000

Available only on the small and medium ships, scram jets are a set of boosters that, when activated, launch the ship forward at incredible speed. The downside is that they overheat very quickly, and require a 'cool-down' period in between uses. These scram jets have an internalized power supply, and therefore drain nothing from the main core.

Propulsion (Temporary - About 15 seconds): +100 (For small ships), +50 (For medium ships)

Small/Medium ships and fighters only

A must have for most ships if they wish to go undetected through uncharted space. While this device doesn?t actually make your ship invisible it affects light around it to not reflect off. Giving the feeling of being invisible. While this technology is not completely perfected it does give you the element of surprise if that is what you are looking for. The field that refracts the light however is vulnerable to fire as it sits on the outside of your ship. One hit from any blaster type weapon and your ship is once again in plain view. Due to the sheer size of larger ships, a cloaking field can not be maintained.

Not a lot of 'medium only' but there are some. It all depends in the customization of the ships really so there isn't really anything wrong with how it is in my opinion.

It should also be noted that medium ships have the fewest limitations.

What I mean is that there are several things the Medium ships can use that a Small ship could not. A Medium ship also has more Core, giving it more diversibility. A Medium ship also has more armor. Something that should not just be ignored.

If you think a small ship is better, then go with a small ship. No one's going to force you to do one over the other. Moreover, there is no 'pefect' ship. The whole point of the ship system is that you can customize it to fit your character. A ship built and customized by Raditzu will always be different than a ship built and customized by Vegeta, for example. They all have their strong and weak points.

I understand perfectly what you're saying. I did read your post.

The things a Medium ship can use that a Small ship can not are the CMLP, the Shot Put, and the Gravity Well.

The Gravity Well is the big difference here. Your ship can be faster than a bat out of hell and it doesn't matter if the Medium ship you're fighting turns on one of those bad boys. And, in a situation like that, the ship with better armor (Medium) and more weaponry (probably the Medium ship), will probably be the one to win.

If you think Small ships are better, period, that's fine. No one's going to say your opinion is wrong (since its an opinion), but we're going to change things just because you think they're unbalanced. Its not like we've never balanced an RPG before.

However, we'll be adding new stuff to ships as we think of them, and your opinions and ideas very well may help shape what kinds of upgrades we add.

But this is what i would get on a Small/Medium ship

That was my whole initial point. That's not what I would get on a ship. Those ships aren't "maxed out" they're what you think are maxed out. You could easily sacrifice armor or accessories for more weapons, or give up weapons for different accessories. You also stacked those builds to favor the Small ship. Good example: if you're trying to max out stats, ditch the Heavy Blaster Turrent in favor of two Heavy Assault Cannons. You'll get more armament for less Core and gain a small boost to your propulsion. Or ditch the HE Nailer in a similar fashion. You could also get rid of some of the propulsion drain to try and keep up with faster ships. Your small ships also lacks any customizations. No Grapplers, no cloaking, so on and so forth.

This has gone full circle now. What you think is "best" is nothing more than your own take on the situation. I would never build either of those ships, and if you're going to dump that much money on nothing but weapons, then you deserve to be able to pack one helluva punch.

I will admit, though, that I think the Small ships are a bit over-balanced after having this little... convo.

Over-balanced means unbalanced in its favor.
