Expanding Coola (Photoshop Project) - Super Buu - 08-16-2006 We've all wondered what Coola would look like if he ever reverted into his 1st/2nd/3rd forms, right? ... Okay, just me. But yeah, more recently I may be taking Coola over on DBA (as someone I've wanted on Chubbs for a long while, though when the opportunity arose I realised I was far too fond of SB to ever switch). So, in order to have his forms 'make make', I'm attempting to make pictures of Coola in his first, second and third forms, by editing pics of Frieza (I planned to do this if I ever took the character on Chubbs, so it's been an idea for some time). There's only one problem: I suck at Photoshop. So I need you guys to help me, either by giving it a try yourself, or giving me tips on how to edit certain things (more below). I set about comparing pictures of Cooler and Frieza's different forms, looked at the things which persisted between Frieza's forms, and changed them. In this pic of Frieza's first form, you can see the sides of his face are pink striped. Compare them to this picture of Cooler, where the bits on the side are completely red, and go further under his eyes. In addition, the skin surrounding Cooler's mouth is purple as opposed to Frieza's white. Let's not forget the big jewel is blueish, and narrower. Changing the light skin to purple is the easiest part. Changing the pink skin to red and elongating the red parts around his eyes is messy, but doable. Making his 'jewel' narrower is pretty friggin' hard. I attempted this in the picture below on first form Frieza. As I said, purple-ing the skin was easy, since the original skin is white you can just go over it with a mid-opacity purple painbrush. For the red skin I had to go 100% opacity, to cover the lines. As I said, it looks messy, but it's alright for my purposes. What I can't do is the friggin' jewel thing. PSD of the above pic I know we've got a bunch of Photoshopping experts out there, so I need some help doing the jewel. I've included a link to the PSD below the pic if you want to give it a go yourself. But if you don't feel like trying, any tips for how to go about editing the jewel would be much appreciated. Or anything you else you think I should change. Once I've got the first form down, I'll attempt the other two, and with any luck have a good reference to how Coola's first three forms should look. Any efforts to consume time while my leg is healing have ended in boredness. >.> Expanding Coola (Photoshop Project) - Super Buu - 08-16-2006 Looking over Coola more closely, I saw that his regular form actually looks a lot like what first-form Frieza would look like without the armour. He has the stripes on the side of his face which final form Frieza lacks, and the colour 'layout' almost exactly the same. So I tried a different approach: I chose that picture because the hoverchair is very reminiscent of how base Frieza travelled. Really, with the horns, all that I'd need to change to make it more 'accurate' would be to red-in his purple tail and arms, in order to match the sides of his face. Anyone want to give it a go, or should I? Only problem is that he has more of a properly-proportioned body, as opposed to the more 'chibi-styled' base form Frieza. He was always a bit bulker than Frieza anywho, though. >_> Dunno how I'll go about the next forms. Expanding Coola (Photoshop Project) - CoolSpice - 08-16-2006 I'll give it a go. Expanding Coola (Photoshop Project) - Super Buu - 08-18-2006 Attempting 'reddening': I tried to get the lines across his arms by using Gradient Overlay, but it was difficult to figure out. Expanding Coola (Photoshop Project) - Super Buu - 08-18-2006 Drastically improved with Violet's help, albeit still no arm-lines. Edit: Went a bit ew when it was saved as a gif. Got those dots on the left arm. Otherwise, it's still better.
