May I switch to the now vacant Tapion?
I'm aware of the stat deductions and all that jazz, but simply put Pikkon is not working out for me, I was actually gonna switch to Tap a while ago but then the previous Tapion joined as him, but now that he's switched, I'm taking advantage of this second chance.

Soo.....what'd ya say? Big Grin

Purty Please help the Pikster out - Kaden - 12-11-2006

Is it anything more than "I don't like Pikkon"?

Purty Please help the Pikster out - Sol - 12-11-2006

It's not that I don't like Pikkon, I love Pikkon. But....I have lost almost all will to RP as him, I remember when I first joined Chubbs as Pik I got like 65 RP's in under 2 months, then in the last few months I've barely been able to write the bare minimum to say away from MIA. I just can't seem to dig my teeth into the green guy, then when I first considered changing characters I thought about Tapion and came up with a whole big plot for him that actually made me excited to RP again.

Purty Please help the Pikster out - Kaden - 12-11-2006

There can not be a single reason that the plot you came up for with Tapion can't be used for Pikkon.

Hell, Pikkon is of a completely undocumented alien race. How can you not find inspiration in that fact alone? Maybe he's the sole champion of an other-wise pacifistic race that's slowly dying out. Maybe he was cast away from his homeplanet as a child and is scouring the galaxy for clues about his homeworld and others like him. Maybe he encounters another member of his race of the opposite sex and lives every man's real dream: to single-handedly repopulate his race.

EDIT: Shit. I rule. Those are totally awesome story-lines.

Well I can't use this plot for Pikkon because I plan on having Tapion having a completely different personality from that of Pik, thus what I have planned for Tap couldn't possibly be carried over to Pikkon.

Basically I screwed up on Pikkon beyond belief. Yes, Pikkon was a great potential character, but I didn't really have a plot for him when I started so I just ended up throwing a bunch of shit against the wall to see what would stick, and unfortunately nothing stuck at all.

I had so many ideas, but I made quite a few rookie mistakes with the execution of my ideas which ended up taking away almost all of Pikkon's credibility, I flip flopped with this character so much I wouldn't even know where to start to fix him.

This goes along with what I just said, I had a bunch of ideas but unfortunately what I ended up going with, and the way I did it, made Pikkon seem pretty retarded.

I'll be blunt, I damaged the character of Pikkon to a point that resurrecting him would be a very hard task, and taking into account the lack of enthusiasm I have to RP as him any more I can't really see myself putting a ton of work into salvaging his credibility. If I continue to stay as Pikkon I feel that not only would I be denying someone else the right to a great potential character, I'd also be denying myself the right to enjoy myself here on chubbs because I got stuck with a dead end character(which is my fault) that I can't do poop with.

EDIT: Ya know what, if neccesary I'll go back to the bare minimun stats just to prove how serious I am about this. Trust me, it's not like I just woke up one morning and was like, "hmm...I think I'll change characters today." this was a decision that took me a while to come to and that I put a freaking ton of thought into.

Throw out all your out history. There's nothing that says you can't. Hit your head against a rock and forget everything and be forced to start over.

You're not being very creative.

Purty Please help the Pikster out - Grandpa Gohan - 12-11-2006

I probably shouldnt even be saying this as I've switch once before, and I want to agian, but I dont think its going to happen.

Anyways. Writing takes time, effort, and devotion. You say it cant be done by Pikkon... Why cant it? Build from what you have, use plot devices(Like for me, its DA:C). I was actually just reading some of Rei's old old work, back from '01, after whoever the hell hacked CDBZ. He had real life probs, no time, whatever, yet 6-7 years later, he's still here, still doing his thing, and simply owning at it.

No character is dead-end unless you want them to be, and then, well you're just being lazy. I like Waffuru's idea though, You could always just start over, Amnesia is a great way to do it.

Also, for the record, Those are kickass idea's Rad. =)

Purty Please help the Pikster out - Mal Nova - 12-11-2006

Amnesia? That's getting a bit cliche.

Then again, what about everyone else that's met him? Do they just up and amnesia too? lol

Purty Please help the Pikster out - Treius - 12-11-2006

Get like an alternate-dimension thing going and switch Pikkons. You know what I mean? They meet and like fight or something and then the other dimension Pikkon comes to this dimension and replaces the old one?

That would be hilarious. Very comic-book, if you will.

Eh, ever see "The One" with Jet Li? Same principle, don't think that's been done here in Chubbs and your weekly Ki increase can be from finding other "Pikkon's" in other dimensions and killing them to get stronger heh

Purty Please help the Pikster out - Vegeta - 12-11-2006

We don't want people to switch around, we've never liked it and only allow it because people will quit and rejoin and sneak around until they're found and get in trouble. History shows if someone can't make their original character work then they'll just keep switching once they get into a rut.

Purty Please help the Pikster out - Vegeta - 12-11-2006

The problem with that is most people want to switch long before they've exhausted all of their options.

Purty Please help the Pikster out - Kaden - 12-11-2006

Its also not like anyone has said "no, Pikkon, you can't switch."

Purty Please help the Pikster out - Blue - 12-11-2006

I honestly hope this thread doesn't end up looking like the new Kolli's switch thread. I don't see how Pik's reasonings behind wanting to switch are any worse than "I want to be a saiyan." Now, I'm not saying that switching due to race is any worse than than switching because you simply don't want to backtrack on a character you've already worked on. I'm just saying that if he wants to switch, and he's ok with the stat reduction, then he should be allowed to. If he gets tired again and switches, he'll eventually run out of options anyway and have to stick with a character or leave. Really, it's the players loss if they switch, stats aside. They have to work their character back up from ground zero and build new relationships. So, if all these potential problems seem alright to him, just let the poor guy get what he wants. Please?

Edit: Oh, and I didn't mean to look like an ass in there. Sorry.

Purty Please help the Pikster out - Mal Nova - 12-11-2006

*sighs*

enroshia: you hsould be nice and just give Tapion to Pikkon =D
enroshia: make it a christmas present or something
Nezumi16: i might

Edit: Everyone's made valid points. Valid enough at least. Of course it's all become repeatitive in the end.

I'm sure I can see Pikkon as Tapion in Horsemen. Makes a bit o' sense to have Tapion in it kind of you know. Seeing as we're only having 10 people max in the alliance and I dont see anyone going anywhere anytime soon.

Purty Please help the Pikster out - Kaden - 12-11-2006

Its also possible that I'm just playing Devil's Advocate, Rec. If his desire to switch is so weak that it will be dissuaded in a couple of posts, how can he possibly give Tapion a better run than Pikkon?

We've been hearing the "I made mistakes with my character" complaint a lot lately. You know who's fault that is? Yours. (Speak in generalities now, not to a specific person) And the fact of the matter is that its a mistake you can change. I didn't like the way I had made Rad a few years ago. You know what I did? I changed him. I didn't like him after I made that change, so I did it again. You don't have to go a complete 180 in two posts. It can be a gradual change, incorporating various people, places, and events throughout the CDBZ universe. It gives you something to work with, challenges your roleplaying and abilities, and will make you a better writer for doing it nine times out of ten.

Switching characters, to me, is the same as saying "I'm not good enough, I give up."

Purty Please help the Pikster out - Banned Dana - 12-11-2006

Personally, I think that most switches are honestly due to character apperence. Sure we can adjust them a bit, but some characters honestly just look more appealing to roleplay as, as opposed to others.

For one, I changed from a Namekian to a female, because I wanted to play as a woman.

Sure I could have been someone else, like Chi Chi or Fan Fan, but I honestly like the way that Pan looks. I could care less about power ups, hell, I'm only using Kaioken right now, so if that says anything, then yeah...

I guess my whole thing is that the "main characters" of the Dragonball series just have more effort put towards them to make them "look better"...that and it's personally harder for me to rp someone if I haven't seen them in the series itself.

I'd also like to say that I like the new switch rules. >.>

Purty Please help the Pikster out - Downy Peach - 12-11-2006

If he ever decided that he came to a dead point with Tapion, that would be the time to worry. He'd have to take the hit again, and I'm pretty sure the one alone is enough to knock someone out of the idea completely.
