XP and Training

XP

Experience points, or more commonly known as “XP,” are a very important aspect of this RPG, as it is through XP that your character grows and learns new things. XP is earned solely by role-playing in our In Character (IC) forums, thus, if you do not role-play, you’ll never be able to rise in the ranks of greatness! Everyone automatically starts off with 10 XP.

There are two primary functions of XP: the first is to bolster your Combat Ability, and the second is as a type of currency used to “purchase” things, which will be one of two options: learning Techniques, which are a pre-set list of moves we’ve provided; or Custom Techniques, personal moves that you create. As you role-play, you will steadily accumulate XP through an automatic code built into our forums, and your points will be deposited in an individual “bank,” which is displayed beneath your username and Private Messages link in the top right-hand corner of the forums. Beyond this method, XP may be given by staff members for exceptional role-playing, although this is rare and should not be expected.

As you accrue XP, your Combat Ability will automatically go up according to a preset formula. No spending required. Your Combat Ability is not determined by the amount of XP in your bank, but rather, it will steadily increase as you continue to earn the XP. The more often you role-play, the faster your warrior will become stronger. Activity will be key to how competitive you are able to be!

The second function is for spending purposes. Once you have collected a number of XP, you choose what you want to do with it by Training, which is explained below. You can pick which Techniques better fit your playing style, or you can learn them all. You could have a variety of different Techniques, or you can choose to skip them entirely and play by your strength alone. That’s the beauty of XP: you earn it, and you choose what to do with it!

A word of caution, however: XP may be deducted as disciplinary action for those who break the role-playing rules. Beyond the minimum requirements, staff will also have guidelines for what constitutes as an acceptable role-play. Also, anyone who is found abusing or tampering with the XP system, which is frequently monitored, will be harshly dealt with. You will receive an automatic Infraction and XP deduction that will be equivalent to your offense. Repeated offense of XP system abuse may lead to a ban.

Training

So now you have your XP, and you definitely want to spend it. Any XP purchases are dealt with in the Training forum, and are treated much like updates. Each character is given their own individual “account thread,” which will be titled under their name. So if I have a character named “Bob,” my account thread will be listed as “Bob.” All of a character’s XP transactions are dealt with in this single thread. You are allowed to post your in your thread and your thread only; you are not allowed to train for someone else, either. Non-compliance will be subject to disciplinary action. If you need to bring something to a staff member’s attention regarding another account thread, use the PM system.

To learn a new Technique, you must meet the required XP cost, which is specifically listed and varies from Technique to Technique. Some Techniques will have other requirements, such as Ki Control being a prerequisite to any Techniques that use an externalization of energy. Once you fulfill the XP cost and any other potential requirement, you post in your account thread that you are “purchasing” the Technique to learn it. The Technique will be added to your roster and the XP deducted from your bank.

To learn a new Custom Technique, it must first be approved by staff in the Custom Technique Approval thread and given an XP cost. Then, you must meet that XP cost, and once you do, follow the procedure mentioned above for purchasing regular Techniques.

All Training accounts will follow the 72-hour update rule. Once you post your XP request, staff members will respond to it within a 72-hour period (3 days), after which you are allowed one “bump” per 72 hours (3 days). Anyone who bumps their thread before 72 hours will receive a verbal warning, and then Infractions for continued non-compliance. Manners are appreciated; so don’t forget “please” and “thank you.”

_=So wake me when it's through
I don't want to feel the things that you do
Don't worry, I'll be fine
I just don't want this dream, wake me up inside=_
