WARNING: Rated R. The following includes some graphic imagery/violence. And if your eyes get tired, the first two paragraphs and the last paragraph might suffice, with some obvious plot holes.
Oliver was born into 'the service', which was a term for police and upholders of the law in the urban stretches of Earth. His father was a detective, and his father before him, so it was only natural that Oliver would continue to write the Nash Narrative. And he without being a braggart he could honestly say he had a knack for it.
It wasn't long before he climbed the ranks of the CPD and when he was 20 he earned his detective's badge, the 'silver shield'. Over the course of his youth, he tagged and bagged (or at least assisted in the arrest of) roughly three thousand criminals, a record for anyone in the CPD that got him attention from the other major cities. Soon he found himself serving the streets of South City and even some small cities. But it all came to an abrupt halt with one case: the case of the South City Ripper.
South City had known several legendary cereal killers, but none quite like the Ripper. He had given himself a variety of names, the most popular being Moebius or Demogorge, but since he was not a citizen of Earth nor of the human species, it was impossible to truly identify him ... or it.
The Ripper sometimes slashed or hacked victims, but it wasn't these killings that made him infamous. It was the more unconventional methods he used that earned him his status, which included the shattering of the skull and ripping of brain tissue from the victim's cranium, followed by its consumption. Also, the monster could possess a large number of individuals so he had eyes and ears abroad, which made him nigh-invincible in the criminal world. And this was why Oliver was given the very unstable case to deal with. He pursued the killer with undying persistence, one of the few to keep up the pursuit, and many of his partners died over the nine years he chased the South City Ripper.
One day, Detective Nash was on the verge of finding the Ripper, as he had discovered an abnormal energy pattern in the killer's main victims. But as usual, the nameless beast was one step ahead of him. It kidnapped Oliver's close friend and lover, Marion West--but it wasn't long before Nash found her.
He had pinpointed the Ripper's hideout only hours earlier and that’s where he went. When he arrived, he busted through the doors of the complex. In the distance, he heard his lover's scream and some sort of crude language. Oliver stepped forward to start his blitz toward the Ripper when suddenly he felt his legs lock up, and then his arms, and neck. His spine tightened as he entered a strange paralysis. And then a tug.
Oliver Nash's body was pulled across the room and up a flight of stares by a some unknown force; well, it wasn't unknown for long. After being dragged on the rooftop, he saw the mystic responsible for his current condition. It was an old man, easily ninety years old, whom carried a staff. The elder's left arm was extended, his palm open and his digits twitching. Then Oliver noticed. Very fine strings were coming from the mysterious figure's fingers, and he realized he was entangled by these barely-visible fibres.
His head was forcibly moved to his left, where he saw the beast himself--the South City Ripper--emerge from the shadows, dragging Marion behind him. "You will watch this, Justiciar," hissed the very being Oliver had spent a fifth of his life chasing. The beast's head turned to face the girl, when his gelatinous hand started to glow yellow. He moved it over her skull, just as she looked up at Oliver.
Abruptly, the top of Marion's head burst open as an energy vacuum connected her to the Ripper. Tissue was torn from her cranium and dragged into the skin of the killer, a visible process as its body was somewhat transparent. Smirking, the creature absorbed the glowing brain matter into his body, and it floated around for a few seconds before dissolving into his blue frame. In mere seconds, two beings had become one being, and Oliver was witness to it all.
"This has gone on far too long, Oliver Nash. You have lost and now you must suffer. The world will abandon you..." The South City Ripper said to the detective. The alien creature turned on his heel before his last utterance, "...and you will die alone."
With that said, the demon tossed Marion off the rootop, and vanished into a portal with his mystical ally. The hold on Oliver was removed. Desperate and struck with trauma, he lept off the building to save her. And though he caught her, and sheltered her landing (resulting in a fractured spine and broken leg), she was long gone.
Roaring in pain, he struggled to his knees and screamed into the skies--why her? Why wasn't he the one bleeding out into the streets? What kind of God would let this happen? And the skies responded.
From the heavens, a crack of lightning fell, and struck the old and agonized figure. His eyes widened, and the energy pulsed through his veins. It burned his insides and boiled his brain; it was overwhelming. The energy spalshed out of his chest and right shoulder blade, like his body was an overflowing glass of water. His eyes glowed blue before he fell unconscious, atop his felled maiden.
After nine years of pursuit, nine bloody years of struggle and sacrifice, Oliver Nash had nothing of the South City Ripper to show for it... except the mysterious mark left by the Gods, whatever it meant. The creature had defeated him. When he awoke from his last confrontation with the Ripper, he wasn't on the streets of South City, nor was he even on the continent any longer. He was behind the reinforced glass of a cell, in the dark halls of 'Deep Blue', a jail that slept at the bottom of the ocean. Imprisoned.
For killing Marion West, the love of his life. Oliver Nash had been framed.
General Description:
For a human, Oliver Nash is tall, standing at six foot two. However, his posture has become more slouched in his age bringing him down to about an even six feet. His skin shows both seasoning and aging but more the former than the latter, as is apparent in his plentiful scars from past gunfights and few wrinkles from the test of time.
His hair has started to fade into a silvery white, where it once was a vibrant blonde. His eyes might have been dark brown at one point, but they too have been dulled by the years, and are now closer to a soft auburn.
Even though he edges toward 60 with each passing day, Oliver manages to keep his physique in cheque and its rather impressive for someone with his count of 'years in service', breaking the stereotype associated with most police officers. He has always suggested that "the day he can't keep up with the criminals anymore will be the day he turns in the badge".
Across his bulky chest, which has been carved through years of hard work and exercise, is a massive scar/mark that vaguely resembles a lightning bolt. The mark was recently acquired when he was struck by a bolt of lightning, and it glows blue when he summons any amount of chi.

Quote:In doing this, I realize I am breaking an unwritten rule. I'm sure the consensus will be: "Switching characters after only one post? I doubt he's going to stick around, if he can't stick to one idea for two weeks." And I would understand that reaction. But I do this expecting the walk of shame that will follow. The fact is, I had long-term loosely-inspired goals for Master Cosmos (very long-term) as I have a habit of writing endings before beginnings.
I'm already disliking writing this character because I use the same character at other RPGs, and I want to write a character thats fresh (writing a beginning first and rolling with it, writing more "in the now"); one that is more adaptable to the fact that in this RPG, as many, things won't always fall according to what I've planned for the character. I want to commit myself to this RPG, but I feel like I'm running on recycled fuel. Thus the switch.
If anything, this is helping me engrave my place here; but I'm sure you've heard this all before, and seen negative results. I'll do my best to prove them wrong.
