Elemental Light

Just curious, does the elemental Light Ki mean like, holy light or literally, as in I can't have Solar Flare without it?

I wondered about this as well. Again referring to pretty much any time I've given an opinion related to the Elemental Ki divisions.

If you have a serious opinion or something in regards to Elemental Ki you could say it here, since really it's the same section as Light Ki. The thread was closed, I think, because it had gotten off track and was done with.

The previous thread was indeed locked due to the derailing that happened towards the end. I failed to mention this in my last post in said thread, so I apologize for the confusion and will try to pay attention the next time I lock a thread to actually say so.

EDIT: What I meant to say in there was that I should have stated that I locked it for those reasons and that members were encouraged to start a new thread to continue said discussion in a new thread which goes against normal rules. Again, my apologies.

Alright, here're my thoughts/questions/whatever on the Elemental Ki abilities, main focus on Water/Ice and Light:

Fire, Lightning, Wind seem fine enough, Earth is a little weird and seems kind of weak, but I'm not all that creative so I'm probably missing things.

Water/Ice: Personally, I think these should be one and the same, since it's the same thing in a different state, which firstly brings to mind the third state, gaseous. If I wanted to create a field of mists for my character to hide in and attack form seemingly nowhere, which Element would be appropriate? In this case I'd say water would be the more obvious choice, simply heating it to the point that it becomes said mist, or dispersing the water some other way, but if you can heat water, why not the reverse? Does Water mean you can only employ/create lukewarm and warmer water?


From the Ice view, unless you can only manipulate ice that is already frozen, the very creation of Ice is changing/dealing with water, which could then be said that you have Warmer Water and Colder Water as abilities. Not sure I'm phrasing this too well, but hopefully the idea gets across.

Light Ki:
Is this Holy or literal light? The closest thing to an answer is that Light and Darkness are the same, meaning literal light, which is indirect so I won't say for sure, but for the rest of this I will assume it's the kind you blind people with. If so, firstly I think this is a somewhat weak ability due to limited applications. You get Solar Flare, or you could achieve pretty much the same effect and call it creating a circle darkness around somebody, which is fun, but not as flexible as, really, any of the other elements. Some parlor tricks, but not nearly as cool or interesting as, say, fire for the purpose of using more than once in a fight.

Also, pretty much everyone in DBZ could use Solar Flare. I didn't watch pre-Z when it was a significant ability much, but Tien, Krillin, and Goku had it at least, with no other real connection to the power of Light.

Just my own thoughts, awkwardly worded.

The decision regarding ice and water was, if I remember correctly, that while it is definitely the same thing in different states, they behave very differently. We figured giving someone the control of ice and water in the same tech made it unbalanced, and overly powerful in comparison to fire or lightning.

As for your mist question, I'm pretty sure either ice or water could both take advantage of it. Frozen mist exists, afterall, and like you said. It's gaseous, so it'd be difficult to favor one elemental ki over the other.

Combinations would be kinda cool, like someone with Fire and someone with Water creating a Steam Blast that could sear and dry out their opponent.

I have a character sheet with a character who used Fire and Ice to use steam-based attacks.

How awesome would it be to beat someone in a fight with steam?

I always sort of thought that beings the Elemental Kis were so rare, it gave you a little bit of creative license to spread out your spread how you saw it fit, and let the GMs say ye or nae to individual customs or whatever in context for your character.

I mean, I'd be pretty bummed if one person with Elemental Ki Fire had all the same powers as another... it takes the fun out of it if the lines aren't blurred.

I want somebody to do something with making it day at nighttime, or having like, light spectres that work as illusions/henchmen. Solar Flare is the obvious choice, but I wanna see some kinda Reflection Shot or something badass...
