Windows is the boss

I built a new system. If windows was installed on a previous hard drive can I run that hard drive as primary and still have my active copy of windows legally?

Also, if I delete the windows partition on the old drive containing windows will it make windows activateable on this hard drive?

Got the guts to just hook my old hard drive up to run together with this one. No more questions about activation code. :-D
