[File Island] The Soldier of Evil
#1
Xander and DemiDevimon had been traversing the plains of File Island for about an hour or so without saying anything to one another. Their escape from the snowy region via a new opening in the ground led them to a sunny, vacant savanna. Xander was starting to grow worried about the depressed look on his digital partner?s face. The floating bat kept starting vacantly ahead as his wings carried him on and one, and every few minutes, he would let out a dejected sigh. Xander had brushed it off as a negative effect of the hot weather of the open area, but now he was getting vexed about the state of his friend.

?What is the matter, DemiDevimon?? The youth asked, turning to glance at his low-lying partner but continuing forward nonetheless. Although the bat did not stop, it talked as it labouredly hovered alongside the human.

?I didn?t think I would digivolve like this, Xander. I thought I would be something similar to how I was before, but for some reason, my path is different then it should have been??

?What are you talking about?? Xander asked, genuinely concerned with what his small companion was talking about.

?I was a small ball of fire before, and now I?m a black, hateful bat. I shouldn?t have become this, but I have! I don?t want to digivolve again, Xander. I don?t want the evil to overwhelm me, because I have seen some of the minions of darkness that Digimon like me have turned into.?

?You are talking crazy,? Xander said softly. The youth plucked the weary creature from the sky and hugged him close to his heart, ?in the short time that I have known you, you have been nothing but valiant and kindhearted, so I-?

?But you haven?t seen the Digimon I have! DemiDevimon?s become the most foul, vile, and evil Digimon to exist! I don?t want to be evil!? Xander hushed his erratic friend, and then smiled at the small village he saw in the horizon.

?Listen, DemiDevimon. I have seen some real evil in my world, and trust me?you don?t fit the profile at all. We are what we allow ourselves to become. There are people in my world who have seen man at his worst, and somehow these victims have emerged benevolent, loving characters. They could have locked themselves up in their homes and let the hate consume them. No matter what happens to you, buddy, you will always be yourself. Even if you become what could be considered the pinnacle of evil, you must remember that it?s the inside that counts, not the outside. You are a good, fun loving little dude; so don?t allow your fear to change what you are. You have been bestowed a great meaning in life?you get to grow strong and beat the crap out of bad people!?

?I guess you have a point, Xander,? DemiDevimon muttered halfheartedly. The little bat finally noticed the small village they wear nearing and remarked accordingly, ?I want to hear all about your life when we get some food, because I am ridiculously hungry.?

?No problem, DemiDevimon, I will tell you all you wanna know after we get some sleep,? Both Xander and his partner were smiling now, tiny paths of saliva dripping down from the corner of their mouths? .

The duo of human and Digimon arrived at the small village half a minute after Xander?s motivational speech. Both were relieved that the village wasn?t something brought along by the heat they had been enduring for the last hour or so. Ten shacks filled the tiny community, and Digimon could be seen wandering around the shacks. Xander released his partner and the two started rushing towards the group of Digimon in plain sight. Luckily for them, the inhabitants were kind enough that they didn?t react negatively to two drooling, sweaty, wild-eyed characters rushing at them. In fact, they had smiles plastered across their identical visages. Xander, upon getting a clear look at the villagers, almost retracted in fear of them being more evil SnowAgumon; however, DemiDevimon quickly informed him that they were Agumon. Although he was confused at how a palate swap determined alignment, Xander brushed his doubts aside and was just glad they had somewhere to rest.

?Welcome, travelers!? An unseen Agumon said from behind the four other small dinosaurs. The quartet in front of the speaker parted, no doubt in a show of respect, and a decorated Agumon stepped forward. This tiny t-rex wore a necklace of bones and a headdress of flashy flowers. It was an interesting clash in clothing to say the least, but Xander?s thoughts were mainly about food and nothing more, ?this is Casa De Agumon! Can I offer you all some food and a place to sleep for the night?? Xander turned his gaze to the sky and noticed that the sun was, in fact, setting rather quickly. Both Homo sapiens and Digimon nodded and wiped the drool from their chins once again. The apparent leader of the bizarre little town led the duo into a nearby tent. Inside was an assortment of meat and varying mushrooms. Xander attacked the mushrooms, since he always had a unique respect of fungi since he was very young. DemiDevimon, on the other hand, darted towards the meat with rejuvenated spirit. With his feet, he picked up the bones from which the meat was still attached, and then he started devouring the raw steak like there was no tomorrow.

?So, enjoying the meal?? The overly enthusiastic voice was that of another Agumon, who had wandering into the tent amid the feeding frenzy. Xander and DemiDevimon nodded their heads, not bothering to turn away from the feast lying before them. The Agumon stepped forward and made sure Xander could see clearly what he was pointing to outside the tent, ?the cap?n said you two can spend the night there,? Xander glanced at the shack and returned to his food. The Agumon left the tent, and DemiDevimon placed another bleached, bare bone on the table.

?Don?t you think this is a bit weird, Xander?? The bat whispered, gazing outside at the group of Agumon that were standing a few feet outside the entrance flap of the tent, ?these guys are creeping me out, and how the hell did they get all this food ready for two completely spontaneous visitors??

?DemiDevimon, don?t be so ridiculous. These guys are just being good to their guests, now you?d better hurry or I?m going to eat all your meat!?

?No way!? DemiDevimon cried, darted forward to beat Xander to another pile of meat. The two continued to devour their feast silently for the next few minutes, until nothing remained by stems and bare bones. Xander patted his content stomach and pointed outside the flap of tent at their lodgings.

?Ready for some sleep?? He asked to DemiDevimon, who still wore an uneasy look across his visage. Nonetheless, the bat Digimon nodded his body and followed his companion across the village?s square toward their shack. Along the way, all the Agumon villagers smiled toothy grins and waved their hands. Although Xander was transfixed by their overwhelming kindness, DemiDevimon was bewildered at how synchronized their actions were. Shrugging his figure, he followed Xander into the door of the shack. Inside was an overly immaculate room, completely free of any dust or blemishes. DemiDevimon was sure he also smelled fresh wood stain when he crossed the threshold but brushed off the weirdness as paranoia. Xander let out a relieved sigh, stretched out his arms and legs, and then vanished beneath the sheets of the bed. Resurfacing, the human collapsed on the overstuffed, flawless pillow laid out for him. DemiDevimon descended and cuddled up beneath a bed that had been laid out for his own purposes.

Outside the window in the pitch black of the night, oblivious to either of the shack?s impromptu inhabitants, at least six pairs of shining, green eyes were watching them slumber.

Only a few hours had passed before DemiDevimon was awoken by the sounds of clawed feet scurrying around the shack that Xander and he were sleeping in. Shaking the cobwebs from his head accumulated during his relatively comfortable period of sleep, the bat slowly walked across the earth floor of the archaic structure. Eventually, he found walking too awkward and opted to hover a few inches above the ground instead. The bat Digimon glanced up at the shack?s windows, but at his height, the angle prevented him from seeing anything but the night sky. DemiDevimon was soon lost in the sea of stars, but the sound a squeaking hinges snapped the bat from his star-induced daze. Spinning around, the small bat let out a high-pitched shriek at the sight of the creature before him. A moment later, a bag engulfed his entire body, but not before he had alerted Xander of his dilemma. The human youth stood up the moment the distressed shouts of his partner filled the room.

?DemiDevimon, what ha-? Xander rubbed his eyes as he talked, but the moment he got a clear look at the creature standing near the shack entrance, he lost his current train of thought and started to babble incoherently. Even thought it was night, the human could clearly see the beast due to the light given off from the torches that the Agumon villagers held. In the flickering, dancing light of the multiple torches, Xander saw a dinosaur easily towering over the combined height of the villagers. His skin was black, with a small, white plastron, and the occasional jagged, primeval strip of blood red. Instead of three claws like the Agumon, this ebony dinosaur had two, lethal blades. Over the bones of his metacarpus, grayed fabric had been wrapped around several times for no apparent reason. Green scutes penetrated from the titan?s spine every so often, and his teeth were so massive they could not be contained within his mouth. Thus, like what could signify a crocodilian lineage, several of his fangs were outside his upper jaw. The tyrannosaurus rex?s blue eyes were filled to the brim with hatred.

?Apprehend him as well!? The monster roared, ordering the Agumon to attack Xander. The human tried to fight back against the little beasts, but he only managed to get tangled in his sheets and fall, face first to the ground. Temporarily overcome, Xander was soon tied up in the same blankets he had been sleeping in. The six Agumon grabbed him by the legs and arms and started dragging him over the ground as they followed the obsidian giant. The black beast, with a bagged DemiDevimon in tow, led the procession into a nearby shack. Xander, who was struggling desperately to escape the agony being bestowed upon his face, managed to turn his neck enough that he saw the interior of the shack. The small building was nothing but a fa?ade to conceal a long, stone stairway. Groaning loudly, Xander tried desperately to keep his face from being bashed against each and everyone of the steps, yet he failed miserably. By the time the Agumon pallbearers got the bottom of the stairs, Xander was suffering from a bloody nose and possibly a dislocated tooth or two.

?Throw the human into the cell,? the ebony monstrosity commanded, ?and deal with this cretin as you see fit,? the last thing Xander could make out before he was thrown into a pit, an action that left him unconscious, was the giant reptile releasing the bag which contained DemiDevimon.

DemiDevimon felt the oppressive grip release his leather prison and escaped accordingly. When he emerged from the bag, he saw the same group of Agumon from before standing around the rim of a hole, taunting and laughing at whatever was beneath them. Their mockery of their prisoner lasted for only a few more moments before they turned to face the bat Digimon. Each of the maniacal reptiles wore a crazed grin as they menacingly started towards DemiDevimon.

DemiDevimon cautiously eyed the six Agumon as they diverged from their initial, linear arrangement. The bat had already deduced that Xander had to be the quarry they had just finished jeering, and now these crazed Digimon intended to terminate him. DemiDevimon turned his attention to their leader?DarkTyrannomon?who sat in his throne of bone. The obsidian reptile was eating a massive chunk of sirloin and sneering at the defenseless bat.

?Ready for my vaccines to purge you from our world, Virus? Evil filth, it will be an honor to watch you be deleted by these fine champions of justice!? The monstrosity roared, discarding the naked bone whose meat he?d devoured in a single, grotesque bite. DemiDevimon took offense to that comment, but even more so, he was confused that the evil Digimon was acting so hypocritical. DarkTyrannomon was of the same digital basis as DemiDevimon, yet from the confidence in his voice, appeared to believe in the rhetoric he was spewing.

Accept the evil that lays dormant within you, DemiDevimon. The voice wasn?t a stranger to the Digimon. Among the recent fear of his fate, it was possible that DemiDevimon had subconsciously created the voice, but the truth he had come to accept without much of an argument was that it was his own evil, making its opinion known evident. Even with the trauma he had been enduring lately, beneath it all, the small bat was worried that he wasn?t going to survive this confrontation. DemiDevimon was also wondering whether or not the misguided tyrant was correct. After all, the bat Digimon was still uneasy about how he had shifted from being a humble Data type to the malignant, evil-base Virus type. Even with Xander?s words of wisdom, DemiDevimon was still uncertain about his destiny.

?I think he is afraid,? one of the Agumon hissed condescendingly. The first strike from one of the orange attackers sent the bat hurdling across the battleground-like chamber. DemiDevimon cried out in agony, but before he could retaliate, the others were upon him. Beneath a flurry of fists and blasts of fire, the bat started to cave to the malignant thoughts assimilating within the depths of his mind.

Embrace me, DemiDevimon! The cold, malicious voice rang throughout the small animal?s mind. It was becoming stronger and less resistible with each punch and blast of fire that punished the Digimon. Even worse, the bat-based, digital monster feared letting down his new friend. Xander had been the nicest person in the world to DemiDevimon, who had no friends at all up until the two had met.

If you continue on this path, he will die, DemiDevimon! Embrace the darkness within you and allow its power to guide you! Allow us to help you, and together we can save Xander! Then, amid the churning madness that his mind had degraded into, something snapped within the chiropteran creature. DemiDevimon?s eyes, which he had held shut to protect them from the never-ending onslaught of his crazed foes, suddenly shot open, consumed in a dark, hateful fire.

?I will show you all the meaning of Evil!? The bat shrieked, his voice strangely deep and holding an augmented intimidation factor. ?Demi Dart!? DemiDevimon unleashed the violet projectile upon the nearest Agumon, who was thrown off balance by the sudden counterattack. Seeing their ally knocked back triggered the five other dinosaurs to halt their brutal offensive and take a few steps away from their now seething adversary.

OOC: Breaktime, expect a few more later tonight.

DemiDevimon glared at the retreating Agumon with an unnatural loathing. The sextet of orange dinosaurs were trying to regain their bearings, but the unpredictable lashing out from their previously docile adversary had shaken them to the core. On the other side of the arena-like chamber, DarkTyrannomon discarded another piece of meat, but not because he had devoured it in a single bite. The ebony monstrosity gasped, the half eaten chunk of meat almost getting lodged in his throat because of his reaction to the bat?s outburst. Furthermore, his legion of loyal soldiers was now backing away from an enemy they outnumbered six to one.

?He is still only one opponent, kill him you idiots!? The tyrant shrieked, his voice slightly cracking near the end of his statement. Although they wore masks of fear across their visages, the reptilian minions adhered to their leaders orders and prepared to attack their bat-like adversary; however, the new rage of DemiDevimon seemed oblivious to the rules of engagement. The Virus Digimon exploded from the ground with renewed vigor, homing in on the nearest Agumon and sinking his teeth into the orange creature?s neck. Trails of digital coding started seeping from the bottom of the bat?s mouth, and then losing its gravitational pull and dispersing into the air, only to vanish completely split seconds later. The other Agumon spent a few moments reacting in disgust before one of them moved into attack the demented DemiDevimon. As the dinosaur positioned itself to send a blast of fire into the Virus Digimon?s face, it reacted with blinding expertise. Unlatching from its victim, the bits of coding still in DemiDevimon?s mouth evaporated, eclipsed by the surge of violet energy that ensued a moment later.

?Demi Dart!? The bat shrieked, his voice deep and hate-filled. DemiDevimon launched the jagged projectile straight into the dinosaur?s defenseless eyes. Yelping in agony, the Agumon dropped to his knees, shielding his destroyed eyes with his clawed hands. DemiDevimon uttered a completely diabolical chuckle and blasted his former prey in the eyes as well. With two of his and Xander?s would-be assassins out of picture at least temporarily, the bat beat his wings with a scary fervor and vanished into the black shadows that blanketed the roof of the arena. From the ground below, the four enduring Agumon found themselves constantly shifting their gazes from their lamenting, defeated associates, to the intimidating darkness above them. Every few seconds, they could see the yellow, hate-consumed eyes of their former punching bag. One of the Agumon followed one of the apparent leads over to one of the corners of the cavern. When he examined the area and found nothing, he spun around to face his partners.

The dinosaur started waving to the other three Agumon, who had their backs turned to him. Before he could garner their attention, however, a black form plunged from the darkness overhead. Two crimson claws latched around his shoulders as the wet sound of punctured flesh filled the area. The other three Agumon turned around in time to watch the black shade drag their partner into the shadows above them.

DarkTyrannomon sat upon his throne made from bone and dried flesh and felt his rage build. In front of him, two of his Agumon servants had been reduced to bawling, battered masses. Near the other end of the chamber, a third member of his legion was dropped from the shadowy ceiling of the arena. The dinosaur hit the ground and shattered like an icicle when it hits the concrete some two stories beneath its point of origin. Although his men, like all other Digimon inhabiting the Digital World, could not be truly slain, the process it took to restore a disrupted Digimon to a usable state of digivolution was a long and arduous one.

?Why are you afraid of that vermin!? DarkTyrannomon screamed, leaping from his throne and advancing a few paces. One of the blinding Agumon stumbled in his direction, trying to follow the sound of his voice.

?We can?t contend with that creature,? the wounded servant said sadly, ?my lordship, he has to be on some kind of illegal substance,? DarkTyrannomon took in a deep, agitated breath and expelled a gust of fire that made the ?Pepper Breath? of the Agumon?s look child?s play. The inferno consumed the blubbering Agumon, reducing his body to charred flesh, then coding, and then nothing but a black spot on the cave floor. DarkTyrannomon, not wanting to deal with any more weakness, eliminated the other wounded Agumon and turned to face the two enduring miniature tyrannosaurs.

?You will suffer the same fate as those two did if you do not deal with this vermin right this moment. The bat is simply trying to use your fears against you, and you can?t allow the dirty tactics of a Virus Digimon to cloud you stalwart valor,? the obsidian tyrant looked down at the triumvirate of Agumon, and when he realized they were still quivering in fear, he immolated them as well, ?it is so hard to find good help these days,? the black dinosaur roared as he walked over to the holding pit. At the bottom of the well, the human was lying, still unconscious and oblivious to the carnage unfolding in the arena above him, ?I will deal with you accordingly,? the ebony monstrosity growled, taking in a deep breath in preparation for the deathblow; however, he never got the time to exhale. A jagged concentration of violet plasma tore into the side of his head, staggering the mighty beast.

?Leave Xander the fuck alone,? DemiDevimon rasped as he fluttered above the ground some dozen feet away from DarkTyrannomon. The massive, black dinosaur began to chuckle, in fact the laughter that followed drove the titan to his knees for a few moments.

?You are going to regret that design, Virus,? the pitch-black tyrannosaurus said gleefully as he regained his composure, ?the meat I eat for snacks is larger then you are.?

?Shut the hell up and fight, fuck face,? DemiDevimon said in his newly acquired, guttural tone. DarkTyrannomon kicked off the ground, his large form landing behind the bat with a surprising swiftness. The floating creature evaded the first few jabs, but even the wind that the movement of each arm created was enough to throw around DemiDevimon. Understanding that Xander would be safe for the time being since he was the new target, the bat started towards the chamber?s sole exit. DarkTyrannomon pursued his victim slowly, putting an extra force into each of his steps so that the chamber reverberated with each drop of one of his feet. Ignoring the chauvinistic display, DemiDevimon darted up the stairwell, hoping that there was no more Agumon lying dormant inside the pseudo-village.

Behind him, DarkTyrannomon was thundering up the stone stairs, laughing ever so egotistically. Unbeknownst to both of the combating Digimon, Xander, who had been stirred from the realm of the unconscious by the obsidian tyrant?s loud display of his size, had escaped from his relatively shallow prison. The human youth peered out from the door to the stairwell and slowly followed after DarkTyrannomon as the monstrosity chased his digital ally.

DemiDevimon escaped into the night air and breathed in a mouthful of refreshing, nighttime air. Behind him, the ebony beast ripped through the stairwell?s fa?ade and unleashed a fear-inspiring gust of fire into the night air. Unshaken by the tyrant?s display of his superior size, the bat turned to face the dinosaur. DarkTyrannomon cackled once more and flexed his four, overly large claw fingers. The beast took in a deep breath of air and prepared to let loose the fiery inferno upon the levitating bat, but a defiant shout prevented him from doing so. Xander, who both Virus Digimon had thought to still be out cold, had leaped upon the back of the ebony t-rex.

?Looks like both of you get to die together!? DarkTyrannomon boomed, picking the Homo sapiens off his back and chucking him toward his bat-like ally. Xander was back on his feet an instant later, and now both DemiDevimon and his human pal were standing face-to-face with overwhelming odds manifested in the form of a massive, fire breathing tyrannosaurus rex. Even with all the chips in their enemy's pot, the duo cast aside any doubt they may have amassed and charged toward their reptilian adversary.

Xander reached DarkTyrannomon first, but before he could execute any type of offensive maneuver, the ebony tyrant batted the human away with a swipe of his trunk-like tail. DemiDevimon growled loudly at the sight of his newfound buddy being sent flailing through the roof of a shack and started firing a stream of ?darts? at his oppressor?s visage. The obsidian tyrannosaurus rex grunted as the jagged projectiles peppered his plastron and face, but instead of being negatively affected by the onslaught, the beast started to push forward, through the never-ending flow of darts. DemiDevimon, realizing his attacks were as useful as standing in an open field in a thunderstorm, tried to move away from the massive reptile. Yet, the monstrosity proved too fast, and with a burst of speed, he reached the bat and sent it hurdling into another wooden shack.

Looking to the skies, DarkTyrannomon uttered a mighty roar that shattered the silence of the night air; however, the beast, who had since then been unchallenged in his reign of tyranny, had not prepared for the resiliency of a rookie Digimon and his human partner. Xander was the first to emerge from his would-be grave of sticks and stones. The Homo sapiens glared at the gloating dinosaur and picked up a timber pillar that had been split in twain beneath the force of his landing. Charging forward, the human swung his impromptu weapon straight into the reptilian monstrosity?s head. DarkTyrannomon let out a gasp of surprise, but that sign of weakness only lasted for a split-second before the t-rex slammed his forearm into the human?s face. Xander was staggered by the crushing blow, but somehow managed to keep his standing position intact. His gargantuan assailant pulled back his clawed arm in preparation for the final blow, but DemiDevimon managed to intercept the beast once again. The bat swept in, landing on the beast?s shoulder and digging his fangs into its neck.

?Little leach!? The dinosaur roared, swinging at the small Digimon latched onto his neck. The vicious tactics of his digital ally took Xander aback, but he also understood that just like the real world, the Digital World was one where the dog eats the dog. People like DarkTyrannomon were the ones that held the power, because they could intimidate and fear those beneath them; however, the tyrant dictatorship over those smaller then him was going to end one way or another. Sweeping in, Xander scooped up his club and started to bash the massive beast. A deep roar escaped the tyrannosaurus? throat, heralding its mighty counterattack that sent both DemiDevimon and Xander skidding across the earth, ?I am going to revel in your demise, Viruses!? The seemingly righteous beast growled, unleashing a torrent of fire upon his bewildered prey. Both of the two combatants rolled to the sides, escaping the inferno by mere inches. Xander felt the flames lick the back of his hooded sweatshirt and instantly started yelping and smacking his back.

?There is nothing on your back, Xander,? DemiDevimon said, his voice raspy yet comedic in the same vein. The human looked at his shirt and let out a relieved sigh when all he saw were smudges of black. The relief lasted for a moment longer, when DarkTyrannomon started stampeding toward his prey. DemiDevimon took to the sky while the human scurried to his feet in a desperate attempt to escape the wrath of the encroaching behemoth. DarkTyrannomon paused for a brief moment between the retreating partners to decide whom to attack, and then he lunged at Xander. The youth, oblivious to the massive form lunging over him, nearly emptied the contents of his bladder the moment the malicious Digimon landed in front of him.

Unable to react in him, Xander was swept up in the beast?s clawed phalanxes and placed in a grueling vice grip shortly thereafter. DemiDevimon, hearing the cries of his human ally, turned to see Xander?s ribcage being crushed beneath DarkTyrannomon?s brutal grasp. The small bat swooped downward, his talons extended in preparation for a retaliatory strike; however, his opportunity was cut short when the malignant reptile tossed Xander at the dive-bombing bat. The human collided with his Digimon ally, and two plummeted through the night air into another of the as yet untouched shacks. The Digimon and his human companion were buried beneath the lackluster material used for the shack, but their painfully induced break lasted for only another moment before a gust of fire ignited the broken structure.

Bursting from the burning timber, the two scampered away from the fiery pile and desperately started rolling across the earth in a crazed effort to negate the fire tormenting their bodies. DarkTyrannomon watched on and laughed at the two individuals as they rolled around the ground. The tyrant understood he could have easily ended both their despicable existences right now, but he instead opted to delay the inevitable. Xander shoot of his feet and quickly removed his hooded sweatshirt. He flapped the still softly burning piece of clothing a few times before discarding it completely. Beneath the sweatshirt, his black tee shirt had luckily remained unscathed. DemiDevimon flapped his wings and hovered up to the same level as Xander?s head.

?This dude hates us does he, DemiDevimon?? The human ask sarcastically to his seething partner, ?and holy crap have you lost your cool or what?? DemiDevimon turned to face Xander, revealing crazed eyes a sweaty visage. Xander smiled halfheartedly at his ally and wondered if the little dude was having a little fit of schizophrenia. Nonetheless, the human opted to go along with the ranting of his friend, because it seemed to give the little guy an edge in this confrontation.

?This hypocrite wants to see evil, Xander, so I opt that we show him what true evil is!? The bat darted forward, unleashing a dart of plasma straight into the snout of the massive dinosaur. DarkTyrannomon, who had up until that point still been consumed in his arrogant fit of laughter, let out an angry growl. The obsidian tyrant released another roar from the depths of his malicious form, and then he attacked once again.

OOC: May I ask for some type of event now?

?So, you want to play rough, do you?? Xander watched on as DemiDevimon unleashed the verbal attack upon the large dinosaur, and then the bat-like Digimon exploded toward his overbearing adversary, ?DemiDevimon digivolve to?? a blinding white light enveloped the small creature, and as if triggered by his swelling hatred and rage, an awesome transformation took place. As his partner was consumed in the light, the digivice on Xander?s belt started to glow wildly. Arms and legs could be seen taking shape as the white form bulged in size. Wings that were once small and almost the majority of the DemiDevimon?s body mass ballooned as well. When the light faded, a behemoth stood where the small bat had once been flapping around. The new creature towered over Xander and was a drastic change from the imp-sized DemiDevimon. This new Digimon, completely humanoid in shape only, was encased within straps, buckles, and a leather-like skin. Its feet wore boots, and mummy-like bandages had been wrapped around his right arm and hand. The beast?s arms were overly long and bizarrely thin, and his fingers terminated with ghastly, obsidian claws. Two white, skull tattoos adorned his left shoulder and right thigh, and an orange bat-shaped effigy ornamented his chest.

Xander gazed up, passed the tattered, yet sturdy wings of the new Digimon, at its face. Two horns pierced the sides of the figures face, shooting out for several inches before curling up. Although the masked appearance of DemiDevimon remained intact, the Digimon?s face, like most of its body, had been vastly humanized; however, the beastly transformation was not without the addition of several menacing traits. Fangs filled the digivolved DemiDevimon?s mouth, and his eyes burned with an overwhelming, crimson hellfire. The entire transmogrification had occurred in brief seconds, and as the final vestiges of light faded, the transcended creature raised its arms in victory. Black flames sprung to life around the Digimon?s lower body.

?Devimon!? The towering devil rasped victoriously, his voice drastically different compared to the usually shrill, childish voice of DemiDevimon. Even in a single word, the new Digimon established both his immense level or hate and his hatred toward the black dinosaur that stood a few feet away from him. Strangely enough, Xander didn?t feel threatened in the least bit by his partner?s new identity, and in a way, he reveled in the newfound power of his once indecisive friend. DarkTyrannomon wore an expression of unadulterated terror across his formerly unwavering visage. On the other hand, Devimon wore a sick, twisted smile. The lofty, satanic digital monster raised both his gnarled, gruesome claws and let out a twisted laugh, ?Evil Touch!? Devimon stepped forward, bringing his bladed fingers, which were now glowing black, down as he moved.

The formerly menacing tyrannical dinosaur tried to plead with the demon, but the recently digivolved creature was in no mood for talking. Xander watched on with a slight grin as the claws of his companion ripped through DarkTyrannomon?s gut. The dinosaur went to yelp in agony, but before he could utter a protestation, his demonic adversary ripped his clawed fingers out through the tyrant?s sides. Streams of broken and ruptured data chains escaped the massive wounds; Devimon raised his right hand once again. With a final slash of his scintillating digits, the hybridization of bat, man, and devil that was Devimon swiftly decapitated DarkTyrannomon. Just as the severed cranium was rolling toward the feet of its destroyer, both body and head shattered into incoherent strings of data.

Devimon turned to face Xander, and the two of them shared a strange smile as the remnants of DarkTyrannomon faded to nothingness?assimilated back into the Digital World. A boom of thunder and its lightening compliment broke the silence of the night sky. The towering devil took a step forward as his form devolved into a white mass. DemiDevimon emerged once again as the end product, but this DemiDevimon wore nothing but confidence. Without any words, Xander and his digital partner started toward the direction of the setting moon.
