Rewards Discussion
#1
We need to be creative on the reward side of this saga, and we will need to hand some out during the saga. These rewards can be separated into two categories; the first are the standard, end-of-saga rewards that appropriately address the level of involvement of each member. For this, it would be interesting to test-drive the system I outlined in the RPG Discussion thread, wherein members collaborate and vote upon a proper reward for the input of each member. It might need a few tweaks to function properly in this particular context; we certainly can't expect every participant in the saga to read every post. When Chubbsians get prolific, they get fucking prolific. We can dry-hump that bridge when we get to it.

The second category of 'rewards' (a more proper word would be 'consequences') will be along the lines of buffs and debuffs. These will be temporal, and a direct response (decided by Staff) to particular actions by individuals on the battlefield. It would be ideal, both to provide feedback to participants that what they are writing is indeed being read and considered, and to provide continued stimulation to write and interact, that buffs and debuffs, to varying degrees, be applied to every single participant in every single 'administrative cycle.'

For this, we need a good way of displaying the accumulated buffs/debuffs on a particular character. Would it be worthwhile, perhaps, to have a 'Saga Roster' sub-forum, in which each member gets his/her own page, wherein buffs/debuffs are catalogued?

This sort of Saga Roster would be rather useful for other descriptive terms as well. One value that would be worth implementing would be 'Glory.' Glory is a numerical figure indicating the success/valor/reputation of a particular individual on the battlefield. It would essentially be a quick reference indication of an individual's impact upon the saga as a whole. Persons fighting against the invading army, as well as persons fighting for the invading army, would both gain 'Glory.'

Within the context of the saga alone, Glory would be an interesting idea, but not of a whole lot beyond passing interest. But perhaps Glory could be integrated into the Chubbs system at large, beyond the saga. It would be an indication of an individual's participation in sagas (perhaps it could be earned solely in sagas).

Thoughts?

My suggestion would be to just have a stickied thread in either the main saga forum or the saga discussion forum. Since it's basically just a list, it would be very easy to use one thread to accommodate all the player like this:

Kaden - 250
Captured Invader weapon
Wounded left arm

With the number being "Glory" and the de/buffs being listed below.

I think the idea of "Glory" would go well with the saga. It's a nice little instance of isolated gamerscore that would probably keep interest in the game. What you'd want to make sure avoid, though, is specifically telling people "well he rescued a captive, so he got 100 Glory."
