Ranked / ELO Hell
#1
Please tell me it gets better. Please tell me it's possible to get out of low elo, where people feed and jump willingly into 2v5s and 1v2s, where people don't buy wards or call mia, where junglers die to red buff.

RNG

It's just as likely that the other team will get those players. As you go up in Elo, people do play as you would expect them to, though.

The trick is to duo with a friend who knows what they're doing, or jungle. That way, you can shoot yourself up to an ELO that doesn't blow chodes. That would be around 1400 or higher, I'd say.

However, if you have already lost a bunch early on, well you're fucked. You never get as much of an ELO boost than you would from your first few ranked games. So, if you're in the 1000 ELO range after your first 10 games, you're probably stuck there forever. I've been fluctuating anywhere from 1100 to 1250 for a year now.

But the ELO will reset a significant amount when season 2 starts.

Yeah, I was stoked when my elo was 1290 after three games, then it shot straight down after the fourth where a veigar fed mid, 0/8 after twenty. Which of course is my fault. Which of course results in a sub-1250 elo.

Until you hit ~20 games, btw, your Elo gains/losses are significantly increased.

You are going to get lots of losses in a row just like you are going to see win streaks. Except win streaks are always "the true reflections" and loss streaks are always "stupid random fucks". Its similar in Magic, when people are like "Dude, I'm totally awesome, but my rating sits in the shitty zone due to always getting mana screwed or top decked out. Its not my fault, I just get RNG'd out all the time." In otherwords, yeah, you'll get RNG'd out of something and you'll notice/remember those times, but even with that in mind, the better players will still average more wins than losses.

Yeah, thought about that today.

Part of the problem, I expect, is that I'm used to playing with Chubbsians.

Yeah, as bad as we all are at times, I'd always take a Chubbsian over a pug, even ignoring social interaction.
