Okay,
Now I understand the desire to stay relevant and up-to-date so to speak in the internet world. The forum change and HUBB approach...Those changes don't appear to have made any significant difference though. At least in terms of activity. I think in the effort to find it's place in the internet once again CHUBBS lost what it was.
Do you remember when there was a time people would watch who's online to see who's browsing? Refresh the page to be the first to read a reply or new thread. Whether it be made by staff or another member. When staying up to chat about games and shows and writing ideas was almost as important to you as getting up for school or work in the morning. Some days even more. What has changed?
Sure the community as a whole has grown. We are in different stages of our lives now. Some with careers, others with relationships or families of their own. Some without now. All new things that consume time and attention that some of us feel leaves no room for chubbs. How much time does it really take though? I believe that just because we can't browse all night and look at new sigs or bullshit or argue values and politics doesn't mean we can't do it anymore. Moderation is the key to success in those areas.
Speaking of moderation. There currently 11 different accounts dedicated to staff-like duties. Updates, approvals, things of that nature. 2 are purely for storyline purposes. Another 2 are limited to specific forums to moderate their contributions to the HUBB movement. Besides Orion and Vad who does what? Yes, at this current point in time when there is nothing to update there is nothing to do. However when there was this was still the case. People were told to just write on but in some cases you couldn't and it was like the idea of that possibility was just tossed to the wayside.
I've touched on this before and don't want to argue over it again. I'm simply voicing my opinion from a unorganized perspective, bear with me.
The main reason I started this thread was in the hopes of inspiring a few. Not all of you though I'm not against that idea. If Chubbs is going to die let it die as Chubbs, where role-playing content mattered more than the random content within over complicated forum structure and misc back stories. Join me in an rp. I've got two characters. I'll accept any concepts, brainstorm, spar, square dance or space ballet. It doesn't even HAVE to be me. Just write. Once you do you will feel better. Out of the video games and movies that are used to escape reality, none satisfy as much as being able to sit there and look at 500-1000 words of your ideas and be able to say, "I did that".

Let's shoot fireballs and fly or phase through walls, morph into weapons that bludgeon our enemies or sniper someone a hundred yards away. There was a time when this is what you wanted. If that wasn't the case you would've joined another community or wouldn't have joined one at all. There are some of you who still want these things. Some of you who express yourselves better in writing than any author or therapy group could influence. Why? Because deep down it makes you happy. At the end of the day, regardless of how much effort it took to write or how you feel about your writing. Knowing you're a part of something bigger just brings about feelings few activities can mimic. Unless you're an olympic athlete or a politician how else will you leave your mark on the world? Like the heiroglyphs of egypt and the markings of the mayans, let us put finger to key and leave our mark on the internet. Chubbs may not be the biggest. It may not be the most active. But after decades of dominance what can top it's presence? After decades of sabotage and attempts to take it down what has succeeded?Let us remind the world why it has lasted this long! LET US SHOW THE WORLD HOW ROLEPLAYING SHOULD BE DONE!! THIS IS CHUBBS...AND WE ARE STILL HERE!!!
