Forum Rules
Here at Chubbs, we try to take our role-playing seriously, but that's not to say that there isn't time to just sit back and laugh. People should just know when and where this type of activity is appropriate.
In Character Forums:
Roleplaying is the core of an RPG, and as you RP you must know where you are. The following forums are where your character could possibly be: Earth-sei, Namek-sei, Vegeta-sei, and the Outer Worlds. According to where your character is, please post in the appropriate forum. If you are currently in a spaceship and traveling to another planet, post in the planet you just left from. Once you arrive to your destination, begin posting in a new forum. The only things you will not RP in the 'planet' forums are the Spars/Fights forum, which is specifically for requesting spars/fights and roleplaying spars/fights, and Capsule Corp, which is for roleplaying purchases at the Capsule Corporation store. Another very important thing is do NOT post 100% out of character. It?s ok to post a note out of character, but if the post is devoid of any IC (in-character) roleplaying, you may get a warning.
Another IC forum is the Next Dimension. If you?ve just died, start out by posting a thread here and make sure it?s not in the sub-forums. It should be about your judgment by Lord Yemma and how you are chosen which place you will go to (Heaven, Hell, Kaiosama?s Planet), but do NOT choose where you go. A member of the staff decides, so you may start posting in the appropriate forum after it has been decided. If a staff member places you at Kaiosama?s, you must first post a set amount of OOC days traveling along Snake Way to get to the planet.
Administration Forums:
These are the forums for the people who run the game itself. There is only one forum you can post in right away, and there's only one time when you should post in it. When you join the RPG, you must post in the join forum after reading the FAQ and the Join page for more information. Once you become a member of the RPG however you might want to create, or join an alliance. When this happens, you will gain access to an alliance forum placed within ?Alliances?. You will then be able to post in your alliance boards, but all other alliance boards will be invisible to you. Any subsequent attempt (after joining) to post in the join forum or any staff forum will result in a warning. Warnings are in the administration forums as well. This is a board that only staff members can post. To find more information on warnings look in the warnings part of the rules.
Out of Character Forums:
This is where everything not directly related to the storyline of the game takes place. If you have any questions as to how the RPG is running, why something hasn't been updated, or you're just plain confused, post in the Questions/Suggestions/Updates forum. The Technique Vault is simply a forum for easy access to character moves, though non-staff members are not allowed to post. If you gain a new technique or are describing your three starting techniques, make a post in the QSU forum and a staffer will post it in the Tech Vault ASAP. If you encounter a certain character in your current storyline, it might be helpful to see what moves and abilities this character has in order to roleplay what happens more accurately. The Legendary Asylum is the most popular part of the RPG (aside from the roleplaying, of course). This is mainly because this forum includes some of the most random topics you will ever see. You may post just about anything you want here, no matter what it has to do with; but keep in mind: there is no need for meaningless spam, and you might get a warning for just that.
Spar Procedure:
Spars are a good way for people to get accustomed to Chubbs, gain strength, zeni, and respect. In a spar, it is impossible for a player to die, and therefore there is no danger in sparring. There are only a few rules and outlines to sparring:
-You can have no more than four spars within a given week. If you wish to count your spars the beginning of each week is Sunday, the same day training points are given out.
-Both combatants, or more depending on how many people are in the spar, all need to be on the same planet. The exception to this is people who are going to spar using the ?mind spar? technique as they can be on any planet to spar. Refer to the technique page for more information regarding mind spars.
Once you?ve decided that you want to spar someone, anyone, then you will make a post in the Spar Request forum within the Spar/Fight board. The guidelines for requesting are just to make a post with the title ?[Your planet] Spar?, and any other additional information you wish. If you already have a sparring partner then you can skip that step and go straight to the next one.
After you and your opponent are picked then you can make a post in the Spar/Fight board titled ?[Your planet] Spar: [You] vs. [Opponent]? adding as many other fighters as there are participants to the title.
You can NOT be in two spars, two fights, a spar and a fight, a spar and a saga, or anything that has your character doing two things at the same time. If you?re doing something in one spot you must either way till you?re done or role-play yourself leaving, doing the spar/fight, and coming back later. Any occurrences of your character being two places at once will be ignored.
Once in a fight you should usually take turns posting. This means you shouldn?t post three times in a row to make yourself look good while your opponent is struggling to post once a day. You should also allow the opponent to post as many times as you before ending the spar that way it can be as fair as possible. After the spar is over just have the last person, in their last post, make an OOC comment clearly declaring the winner and the loser. Losing has no effect on the actual rewards received which are:
-1 stat and 50 zeni for an average role-play.
-2 stats and 100 zeni for a well written role-play.
-3 stats and 125 zeni for an exceptional role-play.
-Above and beyond this for ones that the staff deem deserving.
Fight Procedure:
Fights go almost the same way except they aren?t for fun and have much risk involved. Requests for fights are made in the same forum except with the title of ?[Your planet] Fight: [You] vs. [Opponent].? The policy for finding another member to fight is:
-You must actually locate the character IC. Scouters and techniques can be helpful in finding people but will not be automatic unless you?re right around the person.
-Once found you can make a post challenging the opponent. After this post is made there is only a 3 day window for the opponent to respond before the challenger is declared the winner.
Should the challenged not wish to fight he can try to escape (and if he succeeds you must wait 72 hours or 3 days before challenging again) one of the following ways:
-Using his higher speed.
-Invoking special techniques such as Instant Transmission.
-Special items like cloaking devices can also be used.
-Running to his nearby friends that are strong enough to scare you off.
People can only have fights for IC disputes (if you use OOC reasons then the staff will halt the fight) or for items like dragonballs. The reward system for the spars will not be used in fights. Rather, the winner earns the right to take one of the following:
-Between 200 and 1,000 zeni depending on the quality of the fight.
-A dragonball.
-Put your opponent out of commission for 5-10 days. Death can only occur if both parties agree to it before hand or if staff steps in and kills one of the people involved.
Capsule Corporation / Shop:
In this RPG we buy all items from the Capsule Corporation buildings located all around the universe. Almost every place you visit, except the afterlife, should have a Capsule Corporation facility nearby. Each planet has its own selection of items and you can only buy the items available on the planet you inhabit. You should also check with the local fighters as you may be able to buy some items from them for half price. When you do finally decide to buy that special item just make a post within the Capsule Corporation board role-playing your character finding a Capsule Corporation location and buying said item. Please also make note of how much the item costs, how much zeni you had, and how much zeni you have after the purchase.
The scientists at CC have recently opened up a galactic trading service known only as cBay. A person should scout out the wares on cBay as you may find that special service or item you?ve been seeking out. Unlike CC shops you do not have to be on the same planet as the seller since Capsule Corporation will be handling all shipping involved. Do remember that cBay is an auction service and thus you should follow all outlined procedures set up by the cBay rules of conduct.
Where to post certain things:
The rules for where your posts should be placed are relatively simple to follow. By simply deciding whom you want to read your post, and what it's about, you can figure out where to post it.
If you are posting a role-play of any kind, it automatically goes in the top section of the boards, IC (in character) boards. You find the respective location for your character (i.e. Earth-sei, Heaven, Mercy-sei, etc.) and post there. Any role-plays for spars, fights, or purchases, get posted in either Spar/Fight board, of the Capsule Corporation board.
It is unlikely for any of you to have access to post in the Administration boards at this point in time, however it is important to read anything posted in them.
Finally there is the last section of the forum. The top area of the OOC (out of character) boards is the Asylum, a place where anything can be posted for discussion, weather it's about sports, girls beating up guys, or your new car. Spamming is always frowned upon, so regardless of how others are acting, please remember to keep the Spam on the minimum.
The 2nd area, the Q/S/U (Questions/Suggestions/Updates) board is where any of the mentioned things can be placed. Anything other then these 3 things posted in this area will result in a warning. Feel free to help the staff answer the question, only if you know you are correct. Don?t be afraid to ask questions though.
The final area is where the members? techniques are kept. Refer to these before fighting others, to make you accurately Role-play them. You can also look their get ideas for your own attacks. Members cannot post here.
Now that each one of the forum sections has been taken care of, we can get into the actual rules of the boards.
The Warning System:
The warning system is pretty straight forward. It's a ?three strikes, you're out? system. Once three warnings are reached, you will receive a banning. Things you might receive a warning for include:
-Posting in the wrong forum (OOC in an IC forum, without any relevant IC roleplaying)
-Excessive spam in a forum (there's no need to post pointless things or anything that will throw an existing thread off-topic)
-Being disrespectful to members and staff (we do not tolerate rudeness)
-Not meeting our signature requirements; keeping in mind that you'll likely be advised to change it prior to an actual warning (explained in the "Signatures" section)
If it is found that you have a part in any of the following, you will receive a major warning equivalent to two warnings. More extreme cases will result in immediate expulsion and banning:
-Extremely heavy swearing/flaming, racial slurs, and threats on a member/member's family/etc (self-explanatory)
-Posting explicit or highly offensive images on the boards (if you are unsure if something is offensive, it probably is)
-Not complying to direct orders from staff
-Any use of hacking to gain access to hidden boards or the computers of members
-Controlling two characters simultaneously (If you have a sibling or friend using your computer, be sure to tell staff before you're suspected of playing multiple characters)
Overall Behavior:
We at Chubbs believe in a fun and free environment for people of all combinations to join and roleplay at will. Any infringement on the basic "comfort" of another member will be dealt with accordingly, with a warning. Basic rules that will forbid breaking this "comfort" level between members.
-No flaming of any kind, little things like "stupid" will be looked past occasionally if it is not a serious matter. Any racial slurs, obscene remarks, remarks towards disabilities, threats, sexist or prejudice statements will not be tolerated in any means.
And always remember staff have lives too, their entire day is not spent to please you and this RPG.
-Do not be generally annoying and bug the staff, this will be addressed with a verbal recognition of what you are doing, before it is moved to an actual warning. i.e.- Do not constantly bug stuff for updates. They will get to it when they can. They have lives too.
Some basic things to help with the overall success of this RPG, and to increase the fun level of all the members.
-Try to roleplay frequently, although this will not result in any sort of warning. If you do not RP once every two weeks, your character will become inactive and open for other joining members. So please, to avoid confusion and bad feelings, RP often, and RP to the best of your ability.
And lasty, just be helpful! If a member is struggling, put a metaphorical hand on their shoulder and help them out, and this goes both ways, if you are being helped, try to learn the RPG, don't be a leech. This is just the basic fundamentals of giving and receiving, we are all one community of roleplayers and hopefully we can prosper and be on good terms with all of the members.
"Treat others the way you want to be treated."
And now, on to the proper use of the functions of the boards.
The PM System:
Knowing when to post in a thread and when to speak to members through Private Messaging is critical to avoiding spamming and getting warnings. Situations in which NOT to post a thread, and instead contact using PM, are:
-One-on-one discussions
-Private arguments not pertaining to the rules of the RPG (those can be taken up with staff)
-Pretty much anything involving only one other member
Avatars:
Avatars are the images that you see around the forum to the left of posts. For custom avatars ready to be used you will need to make a post in the Question/Suggestion/Update forum asking for an avatar to be added to the server. It would be most appreciative if the avatar you're requesting is online rather than one the staff has to come and download from you. There are plenty of free hosting sites around you can use just to get an avatar up or at the very least an other member to do it for you. If you are dazzled by the amazing artists on this site and wish to request an avatar the place to do so is in the "Workshop" subforum found in the Question/Suggestion/Update board. However, before going through all this trouble for an avatar you should check the ones already located on the server. You can find them in the "User CP" located at the top of the screen and then through the Avatar button. In here is also where you will select your avatar once the staff has uploaded it. Limitations set on avatars are as follows: it can be no bigger than 120 x 120 pixels and no larger than 22KB. If you are having trouble with the file size then your best option is to change the file type, presumably .jpg, to something else such as .gif. Again, help with this can be found in the Workshop. The last thing to remember when requesting an avatar is that the staff will only do it once so you had better make sure the one you're requesting is one you can live. Any avatar upload requests should also be relative to who your character is rather than other random pictures, which the staff will not waste their time uploading.
Signatures:
Signatures are what you can find at the bottom of a person's post. These images are most often hosted by that person using one of many web hosting providers. If you need web hosting suggestions you should be able to find an answer from someone on the forums. Like avatars all requests for signatures should be directed to the Workshop forum. These to have sized limitations and they are: no larger than 300 x 600 pixels and no larger than 50KB in size. The same size issue alternatives apply.
Proper Requesting Procedure:
As before all signature and avatar requests need to be directed into the Workshop forum. Posting a request outside of this forum is improper and a warning-worthy offense. Requests should be made into their own thread unless you have an active thread for your request or a designer has designated a thread to make requests from them in. You should not make requests in another person's thread or make requests from another artist without being in that person's thread. Do not continually hassle the artist to redo work, rush the person, demand they do something for you, spam another request thread, or insult artist for not making you a piece of work.
Following these rules is essential to your time in Chubbs, but it is not a detriment. The rules are created to ensure that members enjoy their roleplaying in a fun and friendly environment, as well as to give the staff an easier time and a lighter load. It is easy to follow these rules, and doing so will give you, as a member, the optimum roleplaying experience that is Chubbs DBZ RPG.
