NRPG timeline
#1
Here's a quick timeline that I've drawn up. The overall trend is that the timeline begins just after the Akatsuki fiasco, the new Sannin (Sasuke/Naruto/Sakura) travel around the world for a while trying to unify the world powers, they piss off some of the major shinobi villages which triggers a new Secret War. The last several months snowballs into a drama that causes the Sannin to split and they become the leaders of three separate villages.

Word Key:
Konohagakure = Village of Hidden Leafs, Fire Nation
Sunagakure = Village of Hidden Sands, Wind Nation
Kirigakure = Village of Hidden Mists, Water Nation
Iwagakure = Village of Hidden Stones, Earth Nation
Amegakure = Village of Hidden Rain, Rain Nation
Kumogakure = Village of Hidden Clouds, Lightning Nation

Naruto Z Timeline.

3 years before NZ.
The end of the Akatsuki Crisis.

2 years and 10 months before NZ.
Konohagakure's Neo Sannin - Uchiha Sasuke, Uzumaki Naruto and Haruno Sakura - begin their quest to globalize the shinobi world in an effort to prevent another crisis from happening. Sunagakure's Kazekage Gaara of the Desert is the first to enlist his support in favor of the Neo Sannin's endeavor.

2 years and 9 months before NZ.
The River Nation joins the Fire and Wind nation's alliance.

2 years and 7 months before NZ.
The Uchiwa clan, estranged kinsmen of the Uchiha, appear in Konohagakure as if from nowhere. They hail Sasuke as the reincarnation of their ancestral lord, the brother whom Madara had slain generations before, and formally bestow on him the title Tengu King.

2 years and 4 months before NZ.
The Bird Nation joins Konoha's growing alliance.

2 years and 1 months before NZ.
The respect for Konohagakure's part in defeating Akatsuki begins to wan. With unrest spreading against the Leaf's campaign of global domination, Rain Country's still-devastated Amegakure quickly proclaim to be neutral before the situation becomes any worse.

1 years and 11 months before NZ.
The northern Kumogakure's Hidden Clouds and Iwagakure's Hidden Rocks, who have protested the expansion of power from Konohagakure and Sunagakure, now enter into a Separatist alliance against what they call the Imperialist movement.

1 years and 8 months before NZ.
Economic ties cause the Waterfall Nation's Takigakure to join with the Separatists.

1 years and 5 months before NZ.
Wave Nation, desiring to remain neutral, accept offers for an non-aggression agreement from the Water Nation. During the signing ceremony Kirigakure's shinobi secretly take Wave Nation by force overnight and covertly move many more shinobi into Wave than the non-aggression agreement would permit.

1 years and 4 months before NZ.
The Sound Nation's Otogakure joins the Separatist movement.

1 year and 3 months before NZ.
Water Nation's attack against Wave is revealed, which prompts the Imperialists to drive them back by force. Naruto's army of shadow-clones are the key to the Imperialist's strategy. (Naruto ceases to rest from this point on, as he is constantly producing and maintaining his shadow-clone army) The Kirigakure shinobi are quickly overwhelmed and retreat, offering cease-fire agreements with the Imperialists by making many concessions. The Separatists scale up their military power in response to these events.

The next Secret Shinobi War had begun.

12 months before NZ.
After the Separatists and Imperialists maximized their border security while simultaneously testing the defensive network of all opposition, they also silently extending their eyes and ears across the neutral territories until Intel gathering prompted the Imperialists to launch an offensive on the Separatist Sound Nation's Otogakure. The assault was lead by Uchiha Sasuke and his Uchiwa kinsmen, and the southern shinobi benefited greatly from his foreknowledge of the land's secrets; Oto fell before Separatist reinforcements could arrive.

11 months before NZ.
With the fall of Otogakure and the occupation of Sound Nation, the major Separatist powers of Iwa and Kumo were denied the link of a direct land route. Acting on a pre-planned course of action, the Kumogakure shinobi increased their military expansion across the neutral territories and threaten Fire itself, causing the Imperialists to send much of their strength to hold them back.

10 months before NZ.
The combined might of Separatists Iwagakure and Takigakure sieged the Bird Nation, causing the Imperial garrison to withdraw back into the Wind Nation, and the Separatists followed them.

9 months before NZ.
The Imperialists withdrew the bulk of their offensive might from containing Lightning Nation's Kumogakure shinobi, while leaving enough for temporarily adequate defense, and combined with more shinobi from the Sound occupation and Grass's Kusagakure, they launch a powerful counter-attack against Waterfall Nation while Leaf shinobi and Naruto's army of shadow-clones reinforce Suna. The Hidden Clouds follow the Imperialists into the Sound and then Waterfall Nations.

8 months before NZ.
Water Nation's ignored but not forgotten Kirigakure shinobi, lead by the Mizukage, launch a surprise attack directly on Kumogakure. The Raikage is slain. At the same time, absence of the Mizukage opens the window for civil war in Kiri. The Mizukage is forced to return to Kiri before Kumo's terms of surrender can be finalized.

While strife is tearing the Mists apart many shinobi flee to the Wave Nation which is still occupied by the Imperialists. They become prisoners of war, and Haruno Sakura is sent to watch over them.

6 months before NZ.
After suffering heavy casualties, the Imperialists and Separatists agree to a temporary cease-fire. Imperialists withdraw from Waterfall and Sound back into the Fire and Grass territories; some Hidden Clouds return to their village while others are posted to remain in Waterfall; the Separatists also withdraw from Wind and Bird nations back into the Earth territory.

5 months before NZ.
With the Kirigakure shinobi in a very weakened state, Suigetsu resurfaces now fused with the Sanbi water demon. He is able to sweep into Kirigakure and destroy the Mizukage and all other resistance. Proclaiming himself ruler of the village, he immediately installs a ban against Kiri shinobi from traveling outside the nation to prevent further defections.

4 months before NZ.
Believing that the Separatists are in the advantageous position, the political leadership of the Fire and Wind Nations press the Imperial shinobi into making the cease-fire permanent.

3 months before NZ.
The cease-fire is broken as Sunagakure is sieged by a surprise assault from the Separatists who are in league with the leadership of Wind Nation. The Ichibi demon Shukaku is resurrected and set loose on Sunagakure. Imperialists are unable to send sufficient reinforcements in time to save the village or mount an effective offense against the sand demon - Suna is abandoned.

The Sands begin a rapid migration across River into the Fire Nation while Naruto alone avenges the loss of Gaara by slaying the leaders of the Wind Nation with an army of powerful Shadow-Clones.

2 months before NZ.
The Separatists consolidate their power and launch another attack, this time against Konohagakure itself. The Hokage Kakashi is lost in the battle, sacrificing himself to lay down a permanent seal of illusion across the entire village that replaced the buildings and population with trees and shrubbery. The attack is eventually repelled by the Leafs alone, lead by Sasuke and his army of Uchiwa zealots who could all pierce the veil of the illusion with their enchanted eyes. Afterwards, Sasuke quickly assassinates the leadership of Fire to prevent a similar situation as what happened to Suna, and he takes on the mantle of Hokage and assumes control of the nation itself.

Losses for the separatists are grave. The Separatists quickly offer a cease-fire with many generous concessions before a counter-attack is launched, withdrawing from the Wind and Bird Nations and retreating from Clouds retreating from the north eastern borders of Fire. The Imperialists agree to this, and they withdraw from the Sound and Wind Nations as well.

1 month before NZ.
The nations begin to mend their wounds, and now all of them are suffering terribly. Kumogakure is crippled by the death of the Raikage and overextending themselves in the recent offensive against the Imperialists; Iwagakure by the loss of too many shinobi, which were already too few; Konohagakure by the loss of both many shinobi and the Hokage Kakashi as well as widespread damage to the village itself; the dwindling old Mists are contained by the paranoid dictatorship of Suigetsu.

Also during this time the Kiri POW's are established in Neo Kirigakure at Port City island with Sakura as their leader. Most of the Suna survivors are relocated to Neo Sunagakure in River Nation having Naruto as their leader, while a select few travel in secret to the original Suna to discover the fate of their beloved Kazekage. This action broke the already tenuous cease fire, and so they did this without the permission of the Suna ruling council. Naruto was forced to make the warlords of Wind Nation aware of this in order to maintain the peace, but since the Separatists were also banned from moving across those lands there was not much that could be done about it.

The rest of the world, being devastated from the destruction caused by the war, began the much slower and more costly rebuilding process.

Year 1, NZ.
The RPG begins.
