Writing a roleplay from the past?
#1
As you may or may not know, my character is currently in a saga. Due to this, I am not "free" to role play whenever I want, because I have to wait for other characters and the like.

To add more depth to my character, I was interested in writing a role play from his past, when he still lived on planet vegeta. This role play would not just be a short bio, I am planning on writing 20-30 300 word "chapters" for it.

My question is would this be acceptable to do?

By the way, I am not reffering to "fluid time", because this story would be from Kokukashin's child hood, which was 20 years ago.

... How is that not fluid time.

I thought that fluid time meant playing in a saga, while simultaneously playing your character somewhere else, at very similar times (i.e. within a year of each other). Since this would be multiple years (15+) from the past, I would consider it more as a story from the past, as opposed to actively role playing.

You can only roleplay in one place at a time. Since you're in the saga, you can only roleplay there until you either voluntarily leave, or you are eliminated.

Thanks for clearing that up.

You can write a bunch of roleplays in Word for after the saga and post them up then. The only problem with that, is you don't know if you're gonna live through it, or how far you'll get

Well since in this case it's in his past the outcome won't matter. Even if he dies it doesn't change his childhood.

That's what I'm doing at the moment. It's the easiest way to do it. Plus, big XP jump when you are finally ready to post. =D

Yeah I have decided on that. It will be much easier to just archive the RP's and post them after the saga (at least that way I can edit the story at will). Thanks for all the answers!

my question is related to this, so i'll just come in and high-jack this thread.

what i was planning on doing, with the saga and all, is joining the saga and all that jazz and then after the saga continuing to RP in my personal RP thread BUT have the events of FoF occur chronologically after the events of Dreams and Doorways, even though the writing would happen differently. Is that kind of stuff allowed? When i asked previously i just called it fluid time, but i think being more specific would help.

And what if i died i had died in said saga? would i still be able to finish Dreams and Doorways since it technically occured before FoF? or would i be limited to posting in the afterlife forums?

If you died, you'd be limited to posting in Afterlife. I'm inclined to say no to using fluid time.

Damn! I mean, what made you change your mind?

Does honesty earn respect or inspire revenge? Is it smarter to attack the strong or annihilate the weak?

Judging by the replies... was I wrong for saying this? Not upset, just curious. I'd rather not lead people to believe the wrong thing.

I think I changed my mind when I thought about it more. You'd basically be doing a flashback, yeah?

more or less.

Currently, D&D is happening presently. If i had done FoF, i would have had FoF occur after D&D in Alex's chronological history - even though i'd be finishing D&D after FoF. So yes, more or less a flashback. it's too late now though.
