In the same sense that somebody with Ki Specialization gets discounts on Ki-based custom techs, could somebody with Combat Teleportation get a discount on Travel Teleportation?

I would like to ask, before that, what the logic is behind a discount in the first place. I don't mean this in an inflammatory sort of way, but it seems like the setup for an ugly mess - if not regulated. If people with Ki Spec get a discount on ki-attacks, there's really no reason why Combat Teleportation wouldn't give a discount on Travel Teleportation.
But then, I have Inner Strength and a buttload of Strength score. Do I get a discount on physical techniques? Or a discount on all abilities that involve reading my opponent due to Foresight? A discount isn't such a bad idea, but if it's going to be more widely applicable - which logically makes sense, given Ki Spec's advantage - then there should be a uniform discount amount (10-20%, perhaps), rather than ad hoc estimation and guesses as to what kind of ability discounts what kind of tech. ![]()

When you make a custom tech, it's good practice to remind the judges that you have other techs that might give you a discount. Sometimes you'll get it, sometimes you won't.
As for there being a uniform discount, it wouldn't bother me one way or another. I just feel like I should get one, since other people who don't have combat teleportation can get this technique. Usually, you can't get a Ki-based custom tech unless you have ki control. In this case, a random person can have travel teleportation, even if they can't teleport rapidly in combat. I feel that since I do have the 'base' ability, I might be permitted a slight discount.

That's a pretty good point Alura.

Locking this topic, since the current discussion in the staff forum might render this moot.
