[Server] The Fox and the Hound
#1
"So, Vixi, how did you end up in that pet shop?" Aurora asked the fox like creature. Her eyes sparkled up at the girl, a small smile crossed its lips.

"My old master dropped me off. He left me in the alley. He told me that he would be back, but then it started raining, and he never returned." For a moment, a feeling of sadness filled the small creature's bulbous eyes, and Aurora, all she could feel is animosity. Who would leave such a creature all alone in the world to fend for itself?

"Well, Vixi, it wasn't right of him. I am here for you now, and you don't ever have to worry about me abandoning you." They entered the massive gate lined park, where children played on the different playground equipment, their laughter punctuating the air with joyous glee.

The digimon nodded, but still, she didn't trust the human. She had been abandoned twice before, and it wasn't a comforting thought that she was on master number three. It just wasn't fair. Oh, well. All for the best, she supposed.

"So, what do you want to do?" Aurora smiled down at the digimon, who, lost in thought, had been lost in her memories and did not hear the question.

"Huh?"

Aurora sighed. She had some work to do with this one. Somehow, the trust factor wasn't up to par, and she had to knock it up a few notches. "I said, what do you want to do? Want to go play on the swings?"

Vixi shook her head. "No. I don't much like swings. But..." She eyed the slide, and pointed. "Mind if we go on that?"

Aurora swept the creature into her arms, and sprightly carried her over to the slide. They waited as the other children took thier turns, and then decended the slide's stairs themselves.

Sitting on the shiny platform, she fixed Vixi on her lap and asked, "Ready?"

The creature smiled, a gleeful glint in its bulbus eyes. "Yeah!"

They took off, sliding swiftly down the 30 foot long length of the slide, feet touching down at the bottom. Vixi hopped from her arms and danced for a moment, her laughter like tinkling bells filling the air.

Aurora was happy she could bring such a feeling from teh creature, only moments ago, she had been trapped in a cage, shivering, down hearted. Now Vixi was hers, and she wasn't going to let her go.

After playing for another hour, they headed from the park into the city, talking idly and watching as the morning turned to afternoon, and the first pangs of hunger swept over them. Stomachs growling, they settled for a coney apeice from a street vendor, and water for Vixi, Dr. Pepper for Aurora. They finished their meal over by the local mall, a massive stretch of stores that offered everything one could think of, all at discount prices. It was one of Auroras favorite spots. She got an idea.

"Hey, have you ever been to the theater?" She asked her creature.

Vixi thought for a moment, and shook her head. "No...can't say I have."

"Well," Aurora smiled, getting to her feet. "You will now."

And off they headed into the mall, and the first bonds of digimon and owner had begun to concrete themselves between Aurora and her Viximon. For once, they each felt complete, their best friend found, and they were now inseperable.

They had managed to get through the double matinee. Aurora enjoyed the way her creature's eyes widened as the pictures came to life on the flat canvas screen. It was well worth sneaking her in. The theater owners didn't allow animals; obviously, Vixi was not an animal, as the fox like creature so poigniantly pointed out.

"How can he say I am some...some...whatever you call it?" She complained, sipping on her Dr. Pepper. She sloshed back the drink and belched.

"I think the fur and pointy ears gave it away." Aurora chided.

"Tch."

"No, Vixi. I don't think that they have seen one of your kind before." The brown pig-tailed human defended. "In fact, I don't think they know what a digimon is."

Vixi discarded her empty cup in a nearby trash can, and the two continued on down the cement sidewalk. Night had fallen, the streetlights illuminating the city streets like artificial noon, lending a soft orangey glow to their faces. Aurora figured they could go back to her small apartment, sit around and shoot the shit. Watching some reruns of Simpsons while chugging back root beers and popcorn sounded like a perfect end to the oddball day.

They had barely reached her door when a voice came from behind.

?Hold it there, lady.?
