As per your questions...
Sorry, but that's a definite "no" on the zeni bonus. Since you get 150 zeni each week to start out with, that can be incorporated into your roleplays as your salary, and a way to explain why you mysteriously accumulate money.
The strongest human from a Base Ki standpoint is Jackie Chun, although he is currently MIA. Next in line is Krillin. From a Max Ki standpoint (technically the strongest), it's Krillin. You can look up people's stats on the Roster, the Ki List, or the Max Ki List.
Also of note, you don't have to make your character like the series version (i.e., the baseball career), but it's a creative angle. I don't know of many, if any, characters who have "normal" lives.
One thing I should definitely point out is that when you join, unless you have blood ties, you won't have any pre-existing relationships with characters--meaning Yamcha doesn't know Krillin, or any other player character on the board for that matter. I would suggest contacting him and asking permission.
