okay, so i'm downloading some videos and apparently i can only find them in mkv format which my computer (winxp) can't read. googling for instructions on how to covert the files into a useful format has only lead me in circles without a solution. halp?

I use Magic Video Converter when I need to convert them, VLC to play them.

i finally got around to trying the program out and it's not very useful. out of the 26 videos the first lost its sound during the conversion, the second and third episodes were fine, and the rest of them didn't work at all.

I've done about 40 conversions with it and had no problems. I think you are the problem sir.
