Go for it, as long as it's just for story you can do it. It won't affect your stats or power.

It's good to start yourself off in the RPG by building your character, making him your own.

Well, considering I play as A20/Gero, I just think I should tell you now that Gero did not create ANY of the androids you see people playing as here. It was mainly to avoid akwards situations with "omgz! j00 are my father!" (Just for future reference)

Yeah, but you can take whatever path you want to with your character. My Gero/20 is a schizophrenic, one personality being Gero and the other Android 20. So just do whatever you feel like you want to. I can guarantee you that in a matter of weeks you'll probably end up changing the path you want to take with your character, just because it seems that's what happens with everyone on here.
