Overview
Friend or Foe is both a competition and a storyline saga. Everybody is put in the game with no strings attached...you have complete creative control to move your character around and do as you want, then wait for me to fill in the gaps and give your character something to do. If you want to run, run away. If you want to fight, do so.
As you and your companions fight through the saga, people will begin getting eliminated. This is because, at the end of each round, eliminations will occur. Eventually, once down to 4 people, a finale will happen to name the winner of Friend or Foe.
Round Layout
The rounds are separated like chapters in a story. They usually last about 3-5 days, depending on how much is required of you. Each round will have a minimum and a maximum number of roleplays.
I will never extend a round, under no exceptions. However, in the event of a real life emergency, I will consider giving you a pass and/or be more lenient with the scoring. This is to prevent us from dragging on because of constant extensions.
The best roleplayers, and the worst, will get bonuses or be eliminated. The number for each round is pre-determined.
In each round, there will be a thread for each group in the saga. If you break off from your group and travel alone, I'll make you a thread for yourself. Just keep track of who is with you.
Scoring
Each roleplay will be judged on a scale of 1-5. The worst scorer(s) in each round are eliminated. The best will receive prizes.
Ties will be decided by a second read-through of those people who are involved.
Scores will not be revealed in-game, but they will be recorded and given to the public after the saga is over.
Eliminations
Usually, eliminations will have legitimate reasons for being taken out. Kidnapping, teleportation, running away, escaping...all of these could happen. Sometimes, you'll just die. Death is real, not fake, as has been in the past.
I'll kill somebody off should their scores are significantly bad, or they don't roleplay for a round. Also, some rounds are pre-determined death rounds...regardless of who loses, they'll die.
Bonuses
The best player(s) in each round will receive an advantage. It might be info, an item, or a temporary ability/technique (which disappears after the saga).
In addition, the top roleplayer, whether they get a prize or not, gets 3 bonus XP.
Saga Rewards
Saga rewards will be given out as people are eliminated. Bonuses can't be kept, but rewards are things you will take out with you. You'll get some XP, some zeni and those who get far in the saga may take home items or free techniques. You will NEVER receive an ability for a saga reward.
How I Judge
I prefer to read short roleplays, however if you can successfully write a long novel-length post and get me to enjoy it the entire way through, you've done yourself a great service. Usually I find myself skimming over boring roleplays, so do yourself a favor and find a good balance.
I have hosted five-full length sagas, all competitions. I'm not saying I'm perfect, but I've done something right to get this far, so I ask that you let me get the final say. What I say, goes. I'm not gonna argue with you, I'm just gonna ignore you.
Something worth noting is my real life, live-in girlfriend is competing in the saga. She is comfortable with the fact that her odds and just the same as everybody else's. She will be held to no higher standard because of our relationship.
