burning dvds
#1
I need help with burning movies to DVD, Authoring is the correct term I believe. The whole encoding then writing to disc shit. MY main problem is just that the quality is like cut in half when I burn using DVD Flick. Few things:

1) I use regular 4.7GIG dvds, would the bigger/better dvds yield better quality? Am I aiming for a very high bitrate if I want good quality?

2) I burn avi files that I torrent, does that have anything to do with it? For the most part, the files are 700MB, sometimes over a gig. They look awesome on my computer though, and when I burn and test on WMP, they look like half as good.

3) I'm willing to get into the real fine details here, because I want to get this right. If that includes buying a dual-layer DVD writer, and some encoder software, then I'll do that (eventually). I'm pretty much done with like the all-in-one software solutions like Nero (fucking TERRIBLE quality burn).

Can anyone help me?

Do not PM these materials. Our forum provider and hosts do not allow it therefore we cannot promote it, and their authority supersedes ours.

I've never understood that rule. To what extent can I talk about things like torrenting?

Just don't link sites or explain how to crack a CD or whatever. Try not to mention where/how you came across pirated material. It's best not to talk about internet piracy at all. Don't worry, you haven't done anything wrong so far.

You're just asking how to burn a high quality DVD.

Try using ImgBurn to build and write an img of your video files. http://www.imgburn.com/

You can also try using autoGK to reencode the files to use a higher quality and then burn again. http://www.autogk.me.uk/

That's really all I can tell you on the forums. kbai.
