5 Seasons? Fuck, I had been meaning to catch up. I watched a few of the episodes with Larenz Tate, and they were pretty good. The "baby fire" scene was pretty goddamn amazing.

Is this worth 4 seasons worth of hefty watchage?

it is if you like the show. there's one big problem: they prescript and shoot the first couple of episodes each season, and then they write the rest of the season as they go. the first couple of episodes of each season are great but the quality really declines, and it sucks because late-season episodes are heavy with key plot developments (plus new characters randomly pop up and get cut on a regular basis) and the show does a lot of inside jokes with very low-key references to earlier plot points so you have to watch them all or you'll be completely lost, particularly at the beginning of a new season where the really good stuff is.

like the rest of leary's work it's not for the masses, that much is certain. the show plays by its own rules and it's popular enough to not have to give a fuck. plus, each episode is forty-something minutes instead of the traditional twenty-three. it took me a full week of non-stop watching to see the entire first four seasons (45 minutes x 13 episodes x 4 seasons = 39 hours). you'd have to go back in time to catch up before the new season starts, but that doesn't matter since the new season will be up on the piratenet minutes after it finishes airing, so just start watching if you want to.

don't forget the minisodes (hosted at cracked.com and youtube) as it's likely some of the sketches will be referenced sooner or later.

they even did an instant replay, showing it a second time right after the first just to make sure people could catch it. i'm sure it'll be up on youtube or something sooner or later, though :B
