Water and Earth(No rush,mostly idle curiosity)

So, I know Water Ki won't let you freeze stuff, but what about heating? Like, could you scald someone? And, really really cold but not frozen water?

For instance, say you wanna hit someone with a sphere of searing hot water, then another of freezing cold? Doable?

And for earth, is this referring to dirt, or can you manipulate stone,i.e. Lava? Also, could a character use this ability to burrow themselves underground and move around?

Waiting for Borderlands DLCs to download and I've been drafting some story for a character with those two abilities. The boiling and freezing water aren't key really, but the burrowing would be sort of the hallmark. Also, would I be able to get a tech to sense movement on the surface via the vibrations caused by people moving around?

I'd say burrowing yourself through the ground is doable. Heating the water isn't a problem, nor is cooling it. It isn't ice and it isn't fire.
