I am not really a guitarist but I am trying to learn. If you guys can record what you play I would like to hear it. My brother and his group of friends (not a band) made a song for fun and my brother is the main guitar, his friend Phil is bass, Brad is the drummer (He is crazily good and at one of the parties my bro had, he broke the snare drum), but the point is, he recorded it and burnt it and if I find it on this computer I will try to post it for you guys. Off I go to search for it.

I just got my first guitar yesterday... Yamaha Pacifica... and I suck so much I snapped the E after playing for like... less that an hour

Booooo nylon strings.

I'd only use those if you are playing classical guitar or doing finger style picking.

Get either lighter picks, or heavier gauge strings. I used to break my high E all the time, pissed me off to no end. I started using light picks and that problem went away. Now they only break when they get really strained or not at all.

I'm an ok guitar player, I've been playing for about 4 years, self taught. I have a Fender Jazzmaster, and a Fender Telecoustic. I wouldn't mind having a bigger bodied acoustic, but the telecoustic works fine for my purposes. I use a Line 6 amp, Spider 112,it is awesome, has tons of effects built into the amp.

I started out with a Strat pack, a simple solid body blue strat and a little old amp.

I'm not a big fan of the finger picking, and guitar playing is definetly nothing more than a hobby, no way would I make any money off it.

I took a guitar class last term of school, and I sorta took lessons once but the guy I picked was all wrong for what I wanted to learn and I just kind of settled on it because he was close to my house, so I went later and quit, unable to get my money back. I dunno, I sort of hate lessons, always have, weither it was guitar or trombone or whatever.

I'm in college, so they basically have a class for everything. I'm hoping maybe to take either, funk, blues, or I think it's rock guitar from my college. I can't read treble clef or any guitar music very well for that matter, so that might put a damper on the whole thing. I could take lessons one day, I dunno. I've done some of the finger style stuff, it's alright, and knowing a little bit of it isn't bad, but I'd rather just strum along with a pick.

I've been wanting a sorta acoustic type or at least electric =/ wasn't sure what I should get since I would be just beginning. I've been interested in it a lot lately to the point where I listen just for the guitar in the music I listen to. Any suggestions Guldo? Kami? Basically I'm looking for a brand that won't completely break me from my cash as well as having something that's not cheap.

Get a Fender strat pack. It is usually a hundred dollars or less, you get a strat guitar, which looks like a stratocaster guitar, a decent amp, an extra set of strings, a tuner, some picks, a cord and a cable to plug in with. It is a great starter set, and if you don't continue on it isn't a huge investment.

Alright, I'll be looking around at prices sometime today anyway after I get home. I'll post what I found up here then let you check them out. I wanted to do a run around a couple sites too before hand to see if they had anything I wanted so I'll put those sites to use, thanks much for the help!
