I saw it too.
Very good, 4 out of 5 in my mind. Very good ending and such, and I also liked the narrative entrance and ending.
As for the vines, I thought it was sucking the life out of the world, kind of like weeds do to plants, so it could become a wasteland, like Mars. Then it would be like their home. Blood fuels them.
The problem I had with it though, was some of the acting. Alot of it was sucky, and I found when Robbie was still alive corny.
The movie was also predictable. Damnit, I guessed everything except that Rob was alive.
