The escape in the movie I think could be 1 of 2 things, and either would work out well.

1. It could be explaining what happened to get them on Serenity... meaning that it was actually a "flashback" so-to-speak of what happened before episode 1. With that said, they could have "edited" the storyline for the movie so that Serenity was actually the ship that helped them get River out in the first place.

2. It could be that they re-captured River, and they went and rescued her a second time. This is unlikely only because they'd probably recognize the doctors face and know not to let him near River.

Rei - on the last episode, River freaks the hell out of the bounty hunter and he never actually leaves with her, so River stays aboard Serenity.


And is it just me, or are all black men in that universe bounty hunters? Just think of the guy from the movie, the guy in the last episode of the show, and Shepherd Book... all bounty hunters of sorts.

The guy in that last episode had a badass character style. I love how they had him so cold and efficient. It was like a perfect Reijin. Close to the guy in Serenity, but a bit more badass.

The best part wasn't that he was cold and efficient, but that he randomly burst into quasi-philosophical ramblings about the meaning of things and so on and so forth. As with all of Joss Whedon's characters, he was as much of an individual as any one of the main characters.

I don't see Reijin questioning a room's purpose once the 'occupant' has left. (They're not really an occupant if they're not in the room, are they?)
