Xander and DemiMeramon had been walking through an endless maze of trees and bushes when they emerged from the dense tropical jungle. However, the elation of exiting the sweaty, damp forest quickly deflated when the two travelers realized where they had emerged. For as far as the eye could see, there was nothing but endless plains covered by and thick blanket of white snow. It was a living oxymoron that one could exit a tropical forest and be standing before an artic savanna. DemiMeramon let out a sad sigh and started to circle around Xander?s feet as it quickly talked.
?We are in Snowman?s Land, we should really turn around and find another exit,? The human, still ignorant to what lie ahead, knelt down and picked up the erratic creature. DemiMeramon?s all blue eyes were wide with discontent at the current situation, but Xander was more interested in the three stitches located on the ends of the little animal?s mouth. The morphology of the minute beast was overly intriguing to the youth, who was a biology major in college. Still, Xander simply petted DemiMeramon on the top of his burning, yet room temperature cranium. Tightening his shoelaces and pulling the drawstring of his hooded sweatshirt until the hood was tightly shielding his face from the elements, Xander pressed forward. DemiMeramon let out a dissatisfied sigh and followed his new companion.
?Sorry if you don?t like it, but I need to get out of this place and find my brother,? the youth said, flashing an uneasy smirk to his small partner. The Digimon smiled, seemingly not bothered by the decision of his human pal.
?What if he is somewhere in the Digital World as well?? The ball of fire asked, smiling as always. Xander stopped when he heard that comment and mulled over the possibility of it being a fact. Nonetheless, the man carried on for a few more silent minutes before a bellowing shout filled the region.
?Who has invaded my territory?? The overpowering voice roared. Xander was staggered by the comment, and DemiMeramon quickly hid behind his companion?s boot. A blur of white leaped from the side of a nearby cliff. The form landed in front of the human in a crouched position. Xander retreated backwards, taking a long, hard look at the bizarre humanoid that had interfered with his travels. Its body was divided into three, snow-based portions. Two trunk-like legs originated from the beast?s abdomen, and two arms, with hands as large as boxing gloves, stemmed from its large thorax. Two large, red buttons were placed on its chest beneath its head. Although the creature had no visible mouth, the bear-like design of its head, coupled by two hate-filled eyes, was enough to get across its anger.
?That?s Frigimon!? DemiMeramon whimpered. Xander?s jaw dropped to the ground as the living snowman uttered another roar and started towards him.

?Subzero Ice Punch!? Frigimon roared the words and swung his fist at a nearby tree. The frail tree exploded into frozen shards?a testament to the massive digimon?s power. Unleashing another bellow from the confines of his snow-borne construction, the snowman took another step towards the duo of human and Digimon. Xander tried not to act frightened, but in all actuality, he was petrified by the presence of the beast. At six-foot six inches and two hundred twenty pounds, the youth, who was a member of his college lacrosse team, was no one to mess around with. Still, the white monstrosity slowly bearing down upon him and his tiny ally was nearly twice his size. Furthermore, the frozen titan had the ability to shatter a giant tree with a single punch.
?So, uh, DemiMeramon,? Xander started, taking a glance over his shoulder at the trembling creature huddled behind him, ?how do we deal with this dude?? The condensed inferno flashed his human companion a confused look.
?You do know that I can?t contend with him, don?t know? He?s way past my level, not to mention I haven?t really done any fighting lately?? Xander?s jaw fell to the ground again, but before he could utter another comment, a mighty roar pierced the chilly night air. Stepping forward, Frigimon swung a massive, glove-like fist at the youth, sending him flailing through the air. Xander let out a high-pitched shriek and crashed into a snowdrift. Meanwhile, the diminutive DemiMeramon was left to deal with the titan of snow and ice. The small puffball turned tail and started to retreat, only to be put off by the superior speed of snowman Digimon. Frigimon leaped into the air, slamming into the ground straight ahead of the small ball of fire. A mist of snow erupted outward, hurling the tiny creature backwards like he weighed absolutely nothing. DemiMeramon came to rest in a small pile of snow, but his short recess was cut short by the mighty roar of the white titan.
?Subzero Ice Punch!? The small Digimon closed his eyes, not wanting to the approaching agony. Instead of swift death, DemiMeramon was surprised to hear a shout of surprise escape the mouth of Frigimon. Opening his eyes, the free-floating ball of fire was startled to see that his human companion had jumped on the back of Frigimon, preventing the snowman from dishing out the final strike. Xander closed his forearms around the attacking Digimon, trying desperately to hold it back; however, the creature he was trying to contain was vastly superior to him physically. With a flick of its powerful hands, it sent Xander sailing through the air. The human vanished within a large pine tree. Seeing his new ally, who had been trying to save him, thrown around like a rag doll brought new courage to the tiny creature. Floating up, DemiMeramon gulped down his fear and prepared for the ensuing agony.

The monsterous snowman looked up at the tiny fire-covered digimon. DeviMeramon just spat down at him and shouted, "No one messes with Xander but me!"
The human in question stumbled out of the pine tree, looking up. He could see DeviMeramon facing off against a digimon who was way above his level. "DeviMeramon! Don't fight him!"
Suddenly, the digivice on his belt began to glow. He looked down, blinking in surprise. "Wha...?"
DemiMeramon digivolve to.....
The fire was put out when a black cloth-like skin appeared from under the flames. The eyes glowed a myterious yellow as he grew, two long bat-like wings plopping from his back. The little digimon then let out a snarling grin as a skull tatoo was strategically placed between his eyes

Xander looked in awe at the creature that DemiMeramon had become. No longer was the Digimon a free-floating fiery puffball. His eternally burning body had calmed down to a black sheen covering the upper half of his body. Stitches covered the almost mask-like portion of his body. The lower half of this new Digimon?s body was covered by light gray fur. DemiMeramon?s eyes had gained a lot more humanity to them, and they were now contained both a black pupil amongst a sea of yellow. Two bat wings jutted out from his body, flapping softly in an effort to keep the larger creature hovering. Stemming from below his body were two legs, turning into large, grasping talons after a few inches. The last part of this new Digimon?s make was a large skull tattooed between his eyes.
?DemiDevimon!? The evolved Digimon declared, twirling in a circle to flaunt his augmented physique; however, Frigimon did not seem as impressed as either Xander or DemiDevimon. Instead, the snow titan started to charge across the tundra at the bat Digimon. Xander rushed up to his newly digivolved partner and prepared to intercept the lumbering giant, ?Demidart!? DemiDevimon declared before taking in a deep breath. He spat, unleashing a large clump of purple and black matter in the immediate direction of the snowman. The impromptu offensive maneuver threw Frigimon off guard, and the massive, lumbering Digimon was struck directly in the eyes by the ?dart.? Roaring in discontent, the snowman tumbled forward, rolling across the tundra for a few feet before his momentum was lost. After coming to rest in a pile of snow he had brought with him as he slid forward, the beast twitched a few times and then failed to move anymore. Letting out a deep sigh of relief, Xander turned away from the unconscious creature.
?Run!? He yelled, motioning in the direction opposite of the fallen monstrosity. DemiDevimon nodded his body, and the duo was gone, charging full-steam across the snowy tundra. After traveling for only a few hundred yards, they heard a rage-filled scream explode through the night air. The shriek was so earsplitting it caused the ground beneath Xander and DemiDevimon to shake and tremble. Ignoring the slight tremors, the pair continued for a few more feet before the ground beneath them collapsed. Both the youth and Digimon lost consciousness amid the shower of ice, snow, and dirt that drug them into the shadowy unknown.

Xander awoke to the sound of DemiDevimon beating him in the face with his wings. Issuing his discontent with a low moan, the youth swung weakly at his companion. The bat Digimon squeaked playfully and bit down on his partner?s hand, brining Xander to full attention a scream later. Bolting of the cold ground, the man brushed the snow and dirt from his hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. He took a moment to survey the surrounding area and realized that both DemiDevimon and he had fallen into a strange, underground cavern.
?Where are we now, DemiDevimon?? Xander asked, overriding the fear of the situation with an overdose of his all to latent curiosity. The free-floating bat creature did another playful back flip and motioned towards the ceiling. Xander looked up, realizing they had fallen about two stories, and that escape was so close, yet so far away, ?anyway out of here?? The human asked again, raising his eyebrows and contorting his mouth into an uneasy smirk.
?Nope,? DemiDevimon said, without a single care in the world, ?I haven?t really traveled to these parts since the legends, you know, talk about the giant snowman that rules this land. You remember him? He was the one who just made us look like little noobs back there,? Xander flashed his companion a playful grin. The man was amazed at the dry humor the Digimon was displaying. Actually, it was the same sardonic wit that Xander was so prone to dish out upon his brother, Tidus.
?Well then,? Xander said, patting the hovering bat on his skull tattoo, ?before we get ?pwned? by another snow monster, we should get a move on,? DemiDevimon bobbed his body, and his fang-filled mouth curled up into a smile. Xander swatted a few shards of ice away from his boots and led the way down the only pathway he could see. Although the chamber was relatively calm, within a few minutes, the fa?ade was cast away. Another howling roar exploded through the icy catacombs, causing the path the duo of human and Digimon had just traveled to cave in on itself. Both Xander and DemiDevimon let out sighs, and then they started scampering down the path in fear of whatever was screaming. Their charge brought them to a wide, underground spring. In the center of the high room, a frozen lake sparkled oddly.
?Seems calm enough,? DemiDevimon thought aloud. As if luck itself was out to mess with the duos head, the comment triggered another ungodly roar to pierce the confines of the wide room.

Xander and DemiDevimon turned to the origination of the enraged cry. Behind them, the frozen wall of the cave exploded outward, throwing the duo across the cavern and onto the solidified lake. The pair of human and digital creature?s wide-eyed gazes quickly began moving from one another to the splintering ice beneath them. Without a word, they rolled away from each other and started crawling on their hands and knees across the partially broken ice. Before they could escape the confines of the lake, their assailant landed in front of them. Letting out overlapping yelps of surprise, both Xander and DemiDevimon quickly push their bodies away from the attacker until they realized his identity. At only three feet tall, the stout dinosaur was far less intimidating then the massive snowman the adventuring duo had previously encountered. With a body covered in taut, white skin, the beast flexed its tiny hands and legs and shot blue fire into the air from its mouth.
?SnowAgumon!? It cried loudly, making its identity known to both Xander and DemiDevimon, ?and for entering my dominion, you shall suffer!? The blue mini-dino unleashed a small torrent of fire in Xander?s face, both chilling his skin and reddening it. The human cried out, unsure how to react to the dual sensations dealt upon him. DemiDevimon, angered that his new buddy had been assaulted, attacked the small reptile. After inhaling, the flying Digimon unleashed his patented ?demi-dart? directly into SnowAgumon?s face. The minute tyrannosaurus cried out in surprise as the attack sent him sprawling across the ice chamber and into the far wall. Capitalizing on his startled opponent, DemiDevimon exploded forward, slamming directly into the frosty dinosaur?s sternum. SnowAgumon stumbled backwards, but then he retaliated by brutally slamming his three-clawed hands across the bat?s forehead. DemiDevimon squeak angrily, but the force sent him back into the chest of Xander, negating any chance of a counterattack.
The startled human stumbled backwards for a few steps before completely losing his balance and falling back onto the frozen lake. Although the large pond?s shield of ice cracked and sighed beneath the weight, it stood strong. Taking the initiative, SnowAgumon leaped into the air in preparation of dealing the final blow. Xander, still holding DemiDevimon against his chest, jumped up and dove beneath the high-flying dinosaur. Spinning as they landed on the partially iced path around the perimeter of the lake, DemiDevimon unleashed a final demi-dart. This projectile crashed into the airborne tyrannosaurus, sending him crashing down to the splintering pool of ice. Beneath the impact, the frozen pond imploded, and SnowAgumon was lost in the dark blue unknown. Before the duo could relish their possible victory, a horrific rumbling shook the cavern. Across the pond, the icy wall collapsed, revealing a solitary beam of light?signifying a new path to the surface.
?Let?s get a move on,? Xander said, rushing around the large pond and making his way to the new opening with DemiDevimon in tow.
