There's a game called Metal Gear Ac!d 2 that employs the "solid eye" for a kind of 3-D effect. You set the game to "Solid Eye Mode" and then put the PSP in that and its supposed to look all 3-D. There are also a bunch of movies and scenes you can unlock to watch in 3-D.

Luckily, for me, its a complete extra and then game can be played, in its entirety without having to use the Solid Eye.
